Chapter 203 - What Did You Do!?

Baron MacIntyre shook his head at the pitiful plight of his situation.

He could not go to the Palace empty-handed and at the same time, he could not take the cupcakes there either.

He would lose the deal with the King if he failed to fulfill the task or might be punished for stealing the recipe from a mere child.

This was a dilemma that could only be solved by attending the meeting that Yvonne had set up.

Once he had her permission to sell the cupcakes, he could stand tall before the Ruler of the land and have nothing to fear or hide from him.

Hence, he had rushed over even when his Butler had asked him to wait for a little while longer as it was not yet the meeting time.

"This was how I ended up here before the expected time." Baron MacIntyre ended the narration of how he had come over to the St. Claire Mansion ahead of the scheduled time.

Hearing his explanation of the turn of events that had taken place at his house, the curiosity in their hearts finally abated.

'Looks like I caused him more trouble by keeping him waiting.' Yvonne inferred and felt a tad bit guilty for making him wait longer than he should have.

Since he had accepted to share his profits with her in exchange for the rights of the recipe, she decided that helping him out was the right thing to do.

'After all, he is my business partner now. His profit is proportionate to my profit.' She calculated and was sure that she had to speak up here.

Having come to the conclusion on what needs to be done, Yvonne put on her signature radiant smile as she fixed her gaze at the plump man.

"Baron seems to have forgotten something while he was narrating the events of this morning." She mentioned which brought everyone's attention to her.

They had looks of confusion, curiosity, and intrigue on their faces.

'He wasn't that good a storyteller then you forgot about the reason for his arrival!' She sneered at the clueless faces of the men around her.

The three men watched as the little girl shook her head and sighed as though she was fed up with their absent-minded behavior.

"The Parlez with the King?" She enunciated the only reason why Baron had even bothered to show up at the St. Claire Mansion.

The child's words struck a chord with each of them as they had truly forgotten about this while in the thoughts of the events stated by the Baron.

The one who was most stressed and panicked was none other than the Baron who had not yet signed the deal with the St. Claires.

"I only have fifteen minutes before the meeting with the King!" He clamored as he shot out of his seat.

Yvonne stared at him with her eyes wide open and watched him pace around the room in his anxiety.

'Will that help him in any way?' She scowled and rubbed her forehead as she could feel a headache arising.

If he was this anxious and terrified due to this small hurdle then how was he going to face bigger obstacles in the future.

Now that she had decided to get a piece of his profits, she would also help him increase his profits so that she would never be at a loss.

"Baron, please stop moving around! You are making me dizzy." She pleaded which made the man stop the very next second.

However, he had not stopped on her account but in fear of the man who was glaring at him.

Rutherford's eyes were narrowed as he leered at the Baron for causing discomfort to his child.

He did not move away from his stern eyes until the owner of the cafe took his seat once again.

"Sign the agreement and rush over to the Palace." The Earl advised and snorted that this man could not even come up with such a simple conclusion by himself.

'How should I entrust my Vonna's recipe over to such a man?' He fretted that Baron MacIntyre would mess things up for her.

This worry had caused the Earl to think of a way to watch out for the first endeavor that his daughter had taken up.

In the coming days, Baron MacIntyre would soon realize what the decision taken by this doting father was.

This was in the future but right now, Baron was holding the agreement papers in trembling hands as he placed it on the table and leaned forward.

Just as he was about to sign his name and place the seal of his family on it, he noticed something strange written in it.

Looking up, he alternated his gaze between the father and his child before halting finally at the father.

"The profit shall be owned by Miss St. Claire and not the family of St. Claire?" He questioned as an incredulous expression took root on his face.

This inquiry made everyone turn in the big muscular man's direction while he was trying to escape the gaze of one person in particular.

'He wrote what in the agreement!?' Yvonne was stunned when she heard the words of the Baron and turned to face her father.

However, the said man was being elusive and tried to shy away from her amethyst eyes.

'He did not have to read that clause out loud, that big oaf!' Rutherford cursed the Baron for exposing him.

"Papa, what did you do?" Yvonne interrogated after she got tired of his shifty behavior.

For the first time in his life, Baron MacIntyre had witnessed the nervous expression on the richest businessman's face which was a delight for him to watch.

He had always been terrified of the Earl and now was his chance to see the same expression on the higher noble's face.

Marquess Samed did not wish to miss this chance of taking in the appearance of an anxious Earl so he scooted to his right to get a better look at the man.

Rutherford could no longer avoid her after she had questioned him in such a straightforward way.

"You wanted an allowance so…" He muttered but stopped midway when he saw her eyes narrow and her round nose crinkle.

Though all he wanted to do after noticing her cute appearance was to embrace her and squish her chubby cheeks, he knew that doing so was dangerous at this moment.

This was because she looked like a vicious little puppy who would bite if he got too close.

'YOU DID NOT HAVE TO WRITE THAT INTO THE AGREEMENT!' She glowered and did not hide the animosity that was now visible for everyone to see.

There was a slight difference in the words that Baron MacIntyre had read out from the agreement to what Yvonne and her father had decided last night.

A difference that could cause a storm if it was not handled properly.

The Earl knew that he had gone behind his child's back but he had only done so to surprise her which was now thoroughly ruined thanks to this big-mouthed, round-bellied man.

This caused him to lash out at the culprit who had wrecked his plans.

"Oh, would you just sign already?" Rutherford rebuked the Baron who was staring at the interaction between the parent and child.
