Chapter 254 - His Onslaught

Yvonne bit her lip to stop the chuckle that was about to erupt from her mouth after she had taunted her brother for being a brainless brute.

'Well I did not use those exact words but it looks like he got what I was trying to imply.' She reckoned and straightened her back.

The young boy who had almost taken a fall due to her abrupt change in movements was now glaring at her.

However, the glare soon transformed into another expression as a high-spirited smile took over his face.

"Well played!" He praised and twisted the wooden sword held in his hand.

Watching as he twirled and gripped the sword, again and again, the little girl paused as well to gauge what his plans might be.

Until now she had been defending herself with only two chances of attacking her brother, both of which had failed.

'I need to find a way to attack his weak point.' She decided and gave him a once over.

Her searching eyes were not hidden from him and the fact that she was trying to figure out where to attack him next was impressive in his books.

'At least she knows how this works.' He agreed with her former statement of using both brains and brawns.

The two had eye contact and knew that they had to return to their match after this short breather that they had taken.

'Let's finish this now!' Howard declared as he rushed towards her.

The little girl stood prepared for what he might throw at her and tightened the grip of the sword in her hand.

Distance between them shortened and in no time, the sword was aimed at her which she did not hesitate to block with her own sword.

"Ugh!" She let out a groan when she felt the strength he had put into his attack which pushed her away.

Though she wasn't hurt, she had to retreat to make sure that she did not sustain any further injuries from his blows.

'My forehead and calf hurt already!' She glowered at the one who had caused her this pain.

She stood with her sword raised in a defensive stance as she needed to protect her body from any more attacks from the young boy.

While she was in her thoughts, Howard was before her in an instant which brought panic in her eyes that he had caught without any efforts.

"What did I tell you the last time?" He sneered and his sword flew towards her body.

Yvonne knew that she could not shield herself from his strike and gritted her teeth to brace for the pain.

Nonetheless, she tried her best to move her sword to obstruct his attack but he was quicker than her, landing a blow on her body.

The little girl could feel the ribs on the right side of her body hurt from his attack and let out a muffled groan.

'Move!' She commanded her body to move away from him lest he landed another strike while she was in her state of pain.

Everyone watched in silence as the little girl's face was contorted in pain as she jumped away from him, creating some much-needed distance between the two of them.

They could discern that she was finding it hard to breathe due to the blow she had received but no one could move out of their seats as they were captivated by the events unfolding before their eyes.

Yvonne held the sword in her right hand and moved her left hand towards her torso where she had been struck.

"Hiss…" She hissed in pain when her fingers touched the area that her elder brother had hit to teach her a lesson for being inattentive during their match.

'He is even more ruthless than Captain.' She declared this statement while looking at him with vigilant eyes.

All along she had been projecting the image of her strict grandpa Leo onto Captain Desmo Reel but as it turns out, it was her elder brother Howard who was even more ruthless than the man nicknamed 'Spawn'.

Even the Captain had never used such force in his blows while they sparred with each other during practice so this was the first time she had felt such pain.

Howard was well aware of the power he had used to strike her but he was not apologetic for what he had done to her.

'This should teach her a lesson.' He surmised and without giving her a chance to recover, he headed towards her once again.

Yvonne narrowed her eyes and held the sword before her, ready to face him head-on.

'Three strikes and you are out!!' She growled in her heart and there was a fire of anger burning in her amethyst eyes.

Two swords collided against each other and both of them were pushed away due to the force they had used.

The spectators watched with opened mouths as now, both the children of the St. Claire's family were exuding a certain aura from their bodies.

While Howard's aura felt suppressive and dominating, the little girl's aura was refreshing yet at the same time, it demanded attention and deference from everyone who felt it.

This made the men's eyes widen as they stared at the fight with the utmost attention.

'They've awakened!' Damien exclaimed as his interest in the situation increased by leaps and bounds.

Similarly, the pride in the adult men was insurmountable when they witnessed this moment in the lives of these two children.

The three boys, however, had surprise on their faces as this was something they had undergone a long time back and they were shocked to see the same taking place to someone else before their eyes.

Back in the field, Yvonne did not know about the changes occurring in her body as she and her brother clashed with each other during their little battle.

The tension was strong and the sparks of excitement were flying between them while their swords clashed with each other.

Howard was pleased with the tough fight she was giving him and they began moving in one accord.

When the girl attacked it was the boy who jumped away to defend himself from her blows and vice versa when it was the boy who took on the offensive side in the fight.

The two children clashing against each other without stopping was causing them difficulty to breathe but they did not stop.

Their fight encompassed the entire field as they did not stay in one place but kept moving to attack and defend, whatever was needed in that current situation.

While Yvonne was defending herself from his onslaught of offensive attacks, she finally noticed something.

A pattern that she had been missing to detect all along was now noticeable before her eyes.

'Got you!' She exclaimed in excitement as her eyes sparkled when she saw her brother aiming for her shoulder.

This time, instead of jumping backward to dodge his attack, Yvonne leaped towards the side of his non-dominant hand.

The boy watched in a blanked-out state as she was now out of harm's way and stood close to his side.

'Your weak spot.' She grinned as she had caught him off guard with her unexpected actions.

Before Howard could jump away from her, he felt something pressing down on his neck and he knew full well what it was.

"I win." She whispered into his ear as she applied further pressure on his neck with her sword.
