Chapter 347 - Uninvited And Unexpected

A week passed after Yvonne had heard the news from the Butler about Paula's sudden disappearance.

Though she was curious to know more, there was nothing she could do about it.

Her interaction with her parents had gone back to normal after the presents she had received and she could not have been any happier.

She flaunted her new sword before her trainer and her tutor, Marquess Samed who felt that her childish actions were adorable.

These two men knew of her sarcastic and mean side so they were appreciating this rare chance to see her cute side as well.

When she had interrogated the Captain about his involvement in the present she had received, he did not conceal any further.

"Ford asked me to stall for a few more days so I did just that." He disclosed what he had done for his friend.

Yvonne appreciated his honesty as they began practicing with the new sword she had received.

The gloves were also a perfect addition to her attire as they were both aesthetically pleasing and practical.

They protected her hands while making her look good in them so she was satisfied with what her parents had given her.

She soon became acquainted with her new best friend which was her sword and practiced diligently to improve herself.

Each morning she trained with Captain Desmo Reel and in the evening, she practiced alone in the training grounds which her father had made for Howard a long time ago.

Days went by quickly and soon the next weekend arrived.

This bright Saturday morning, an uninvited and unexpected guest arrived at the St. Claire's Mansion.

The family of three was sitting together for breakfast when they heard the sound of a horse-drawn carriage coming from outside.

They had not been expecting anyone to visit them so the Earl ordered the Butler to check who it might be.

Within a few minutes, the old man who had exited the dining room had now returned huffing and puffing appearing to have run all the way back to them.

'What is his problem?' Yvonne rolled her eyes while taking a large bite from the buttered toast the chef had prepared for her.

"Master, Madam… Young Master has returned!" Limo exclaimed while pointing at the door.

He then continued to breathe hard to catch his breath but everyone was too shocked to bother about him.

This announcement he had made brought a wave of happiness to the hearts of those present and they quickly rose from their seats, abandoning their breakfasts.

Yvonne also was thrilled to hear that her elder brother had returned home after his long stay at the Academy.

'I can show him my sword!' She cheered and extended her hands towards her father.

Her short legs would delay them so she motioned for the tall man to carry her so that they might reach the entrance of the Mansion sooner.

Having understood her actions, Rutherford was happy to help as he held his child in his arms and wiped the bread crumbs off her lips.

He along with his wife and child then strode away to greet the young boy who had returned home.

Rutherford was surprised to hear about this news as he had certainly not sent for a carriage to pick him up.

Hence, this sudden return could only have one perfect explanation.

Upon reaching the entrance, the carriage that halted before them was proof that his assumption was right.

Yvonne took one glance at the emblem painted on the side of the carriage and was sure whom it belonged to.

As the door of the carriage was opened, her father placed her on the ground and stood next to his wife.

The parents watched as their son alighted from the large carriage with a Red Scorpion painted on it and walked steadily towards them.

The dark blue hair shimmered under the sun's light as he strode in their direction.

However, the little sister was busy looking at the other person who had gotten off after her elder brother.

When Howard reached their position, his mother was the first to hug him after which the father had done the same.

Rutherford was overjoyed to see him since he did not get the chance to meet his son at the Serenity Haven Inn that the ladies had gone to the last time.

While this heartwarming encounter was taking place, the other boy had reached them and his gaze was fixed on the little girl.

"Vonny, you did not come to meet me the last time!" Taylor Tanner grumbled while pouting at the little girl.

When the others heard the little girl's chuckle in response to these words, they averted their gaze to the two children.

"You can meet me now." She smiled and it appeared as though she was trying to coax the boy who was older than her.

'He acts just like Vince sometimes.' She was reminded of the only person who could act spoiled with her back in her previous world.

This was why she often indulged Taylor without scorning him like she usually would with Howard.

This reaction of hers only induced her older brother to drink a tall glass of envy juice as he glared daggers at his friend for bothering his sister as soon as they met.

"Ignore him, Vonny. Let's go inside." Howard declared but found that none of them had taken a single step.

His eyes scanned the ones around him and found that everyone was frozen in place as they stared at him as though he was someone whom they had never met before.

The one who was most surprised by what he had said was the little girl whose amethyst eyes were left wide open.

'Did he just call me... Vonny?' She gaped at him, wondering whether she was hallucinating.

However, the similar expressions of shock and surprise on everyone's faces proved that she had not heard him wrong.

Taylor too was stunned to see that his friend had just called her 'Vonny' instead of the usual 'you' that he often used to address her.

This brought a cheeky grin on his face which he directed towards his best friend as he waited for him to discern what he had just done.

This did not take long as in the next second, a pink hue took over Howard's face due to the embarrassment he was now facing.

'Why did I call her that?' He grumbled that he had done something strange in a fit of anger at his friend's close friendship with her.

Yvonne had been observing him and she caught every change in his expressions.

'He is cute when he doesn't open his mouth.' She nodded having come to this conclusion.

However, something needed to be done to revive the frozen air around them.

"Big Brother and Master Taylor, let's go eat. Vonny is starving!" She announced, bringing them out of their thoughts.

She also glanced at her brother when she used the same name he had called her earlier and snickered when she saw his flustered face.

'I never noticed that Vonny is so mischievous, teasing Howard like that!' Taylor bit his lip to control his chuckle at the scene before him.

The second son of the Duke's family was only here to drop his friend off before moving towards the direction of his Estate but how could he decline the kind offer made by this cute little girl?

Therefore, he chose to stick around and have breakfast with them.

Raylene had been watching her children walk into the house with the new boy and could only grip her husband's hand tighter.

The cause of this was not her anxiety but her husband's raging emotions after seeing that Tanner boy getting close to their lovely child all over again.

'I wonder how Ruthy would react if I ever told him about what happened at the Inn with Master Jasper.' She giggled at this thought but shook her head when the Earl glanced her way.

"Let us go and see what they are up to." She suggested and received an eager, almost desperate nod from the man next to her.

As they walked back into the house, Raylene smiled at the secret that she shared with her daughter, one that would remain a secret forever.

The couple then walked into the house as they followed the direction in which their children had disappeared.
