The next morning, the sky was bright again and there were birds chirping outside the window of the little girl's bedroom.
The one who had been awakened by their sound was the child who had more than enough rest that she wouldn't need more for the next few days.
'Argh!' Yvonne groaned when her head felt heavy due to the fever that her body had just fought off during the night.
Just as the old physician had assured, she had no fever right now but the aches in her body remained.
Feeling the sheets moving around, the maid who had been sleeping on the floor broke free from her slumber.
Glancing up, she was surprised and overjoyed to see that a pair of amethyst eyes were wide open, indicating that their owner was now awake.
"Miss? Are you awake?" She inquired in a hoarse voice as she had just gotten up from her sleep.
Yvonne was trying to sit up when she heard Roselie's question and turned to glance at her.
Nodding in response, she forced a smile when the maid helped her sit up in bed.
Roselie was quick to fetch her some water and then rushed out of the room without saying another word.
'Strange…' Yvonne declared when she saw how the maid had run away as though her life depended on it.
She then sat with her legs crossed over each other as she pressed her palm on her forehead.
The warmth she felt indicated that she had truly been sick the last night and this could explain her aching body and her hazy mind.
The details of the dream though were clear and also the conclusion that she had come to after she had briefly woken up.
The sounds of hasty footsteps coming her way made her change her sitting position to look elegant, unlike the casual posture she had been in earlier.
The door was opened the moment she returned to her proper posture and found that it was her parents who had come into the room.
"How are you feeling?" Raylene questioned while taking her seat next to her on the bed.
Yvonne observed their clothing and realized that this was the first time she had seen them in their nightwear.
Raylene had a thin gown which was covered with a thicker robe she had thrown on in her hurry and Rutherford was in his pajamas which made him seem less fierce when compared to his usual clothing.
'They look cute this way.' She smiled after scrutinizing their attires.
The mother's brows which were furrowed in concern softened when she saw this smile.
Rutherford sighed in relief when he noticed his wife's smile after checking Yvonne's temperature with her palm.
'She must be better now.' He inferred after what he had seen.
"You slept for too long and must be hungry now." Raylene patted her daughter's head as she said those words.
'Why would I be hungry when I ate before I slept last night?' Yvonne was confused at what she heard as she had also drank that glass of milk after dinner.
However, just as she was about to make her thoughts known to them, the sound of a loud rumbling stomach was heard in the room.
The parents held in their chuckle when they noticed the red face of their daughter which was now flushed not due to the fever but for the embarrassment she felt.
The father had to look away to conceal his wide smile which had formed after what he had heard.
Just yesterday, they were worried sick for her well-being, and this morning, she had made them smile without putting in any effort.
While the Earl was enjoying the sight of his cute child from the corner of his eye, the Countess was doing something useful here.
Thankfully, Raylene had forethought about such a situation arising and had alerted the kitchen staff to prepare a light meal for the girl before she rushed over to this room with her husband.
"Someone will be bringing your food so wait for a little while." She coaxed her hungry child in a soft voice.
'This is so shameful!' Yvonne lowered her head as she lamented her reputation that had taken a hit after what had just happened.
A few minutes later, a maid handed over a small bowl to Roselie who in turn passed it to the Countess.
Yvonne was spoon-fed warm salty porridge which her empty stomach relished.
"I think we should cancel your classes for the day so that you get some more rest." Rutherford announced after remaining silent until now.
Her fever had just lowered so he did not want her to strain her feeble body, allowing the fever to return once again.
Yvonne frowned when she heard these words and confusion was apparent in her eyes.
"Classes? Why would I have classes on a Sunday?" She muttered while looking at him with a weird gaze.
'Has he gone senile already?' She wondered whether this was why he had confused the two days.
Hearing her words, Raylene's hand which had extended to serve her another spoonful of porridge halted and she gazed at her intently.
"Vonny, you have been asleep since Saturday night and today is Monday morning." She corrected the misconception her child was in.
Yvonne turned her head towards her mother in a slapdash manner at hearing these words and frowned.
'I was sick to the point that I slept through an entire day?' She pouted when she thought of how she had missed an entire day.
Her silence lasted for a while before Rutherford declared that there would be no further classes until she was perfectly fine.
Raylene agreed with his decision and coaxed her to complete the entire bowl of porridge so that she might consume the medicines prescribed by the physician.
The parents then left her in the care of her maid after making sure that she was well-fed.
"Roselie, where is Big Brother?" The little girl inquired once they were alone in the room.
The maid did not conceal anything and informed about his departure yesterday evening with the son of the Duke who had created a fuss to meet the little girl but had to leave reluctantly.
Roselie was with her Miss the entire time so she did not have complete information about this matter and only knew what she had heard from the other maids in passing.
'Missed the chance to know what's on his mind after our conversation!' Yvonne scoffed at her weak body which had caused this to happen.
However, she sighed that she was being hasty as there was too much time before any final decision needed to be made.
'Just as I had told him, I will build my empire up and he can train as he wishes until then.' She recalled the bold and arrogant declaration she had made at that time.
And when the time came, she would be more than willing to lend him her helping hand.
But she could not deny that she was bent upon building her own business empire whether he accepted or rejected her help in the future.
To achieve this goal, the foundations of her business needed to be laid early to let her empire stand strong and be adequate to withstand the treacherous storms of this society.
Her father had canceled all classes for the day, giving her the time and peace to think about the crucial questions for her future plans concerning her business.
The how, what, where, and when were all swirling in her mind as she tried to figure them out one by one.
The young maid who brought over a tub of water to give her Miss a sponge bath was now gazing at the contemplating face of the child as she rubbed her chin.
Yvonne was so lost in her thoughts that she jolted awake when she felt a damp cloth touching her palm.
"We need to wipe you down and change your clothes, Miss." Roselie reminded her as she continued her actions.
Yvonne did not object as she too felt that she needed a fresh pair of clothes after spending last night sweating in it.
While the maid did her job, she was focusing on her future job and making mental notes about how to prepare everything for it.
Thus, the little girl spent the day after changing into new clothes, in her bed as she thought of the dos and don'ts of her future plans.
