When the small group of women accompanied by their guardian horse turned around the corner, they paused to take in the view before them.
'The heck is that!?' Yvonne's eyes widened at what she saw.
Holding her mother's hand, the two resumed walking.
Demon was next to his Master while the maids were also at a short distance away from them.
Just as Raylene had expected, when they reached the entrance of the Mansion they found a group of men standing outside as well.
Rutherford turned in the direction of the footsteps and a smile appeared on his stoic face when he found that they belonged to his wife and child.
Howard's eyes fell on the huge etcher next to his sister and admiration for her intensified once again.
The father and son pair were soon united with the mother and daughter who reached their position.
"What is this, Ruthy?" Raylene whispered as her eyes scanned the Butler who stood with a group of male servants at a distance away from them.
The Earl did not answer but pointed his chin ahead of him, gesturing to her to turn that way.
Complying to his wishes, the Countess turned her head and watched in silence.
When the little girl met her father and brother, she chose to stand next to the young boy to avoid getting carried by her father.
"Who are they?" She whispered while leaning closer to her brother who shook his head as he was equally curious and ignorant about this situation.
He had been revising all the new information he had learned from his father when the sounds of loud galloping and neighing reached the office where they were.
Unlike his confusion at this commotion, the Earl smiled in appreciation as he rose from his seat and motioned for the boy to follow him.
They had just reached the entrance when the women arrived so he did not know how to answer his sister.
Yvonne gave up on trying to find clues from him and turned around to take a look at what it was.
Present before them were four sturdy horses fastened to an enormous carriage-looking vehicle.
If a normal carriage was approximately ten feet tall then this one ranged between sixteen to seventeen feet in height.
The wheels attached to it looked sturdy, used for heavy-duty purposes allowing it to carry whatever weight was placed inside.
But the most fascinating thing for the little girl was that, unlike normal carriages, this one did not have any doors or windows at the sides.
All she saw was a big brown wooden body whose weight was being pulled by these four horses.
'How does one enter this thing?' Yvonne wondered as she scanned her eyes across this large carriage that had come to a halt before their mansion.
This vehicle wasn't the only one that had arrived as they were three other carriages that followed after it.
When the girl laid eyes on these carriages, she could discern after a single glance that these were simple and plain which meant that they were used to transport commoners.
Once all the carriages had come to a halt, numerous men jumped out of them and began walking towards their position.
Facing about twenty men who now stood before the entrance of the mansion, Yvonne was busy trying to make sense of what was taking place.
However, the etcher next to her had taken a protective stance to defend his Master against these strangers they had never met before.
With his stern gaze, he leered at the men, causing them to cower at the frightening aura of a mere horse.
"Vonna, these are my men." Rutherford announced when he noticed the hostility in Demon's demeanor.
These words were directed towards his daughter as she was the only one capable of controlling the beast who was larger than the horses that had arrived.
Understanding what her father meant, Yvonne patted her horse's body which succeeded in sending him the message.
In the next moment, Demon's threatening aura dissipated as he took a step behind.
The men heaved a sigh of relief when this huge scary-looking horse who resembled a demon to them stepped away.
Rutherford nodded at the men who bowed before him and watched as one of them came forward.
Dressed in a simple brown suit which appeared to have seen better days was the man who seemed to be the one representing the other nineteen men standing behind him.
"Master, forgive us for arriving later than expected. The horses needed a break." He informed Rutherford while bowing once again.
The Earl waved his hand, gesturing him to raise and the man did so.
"Was there any problem while traveling?" He inquired while casting a glance at the large carriage.
The man was swift to shake his head as he proudly thumped his chest.
"Everything has been prepared and brought over as per your instructions, Lord." He disclosed which gained an approving nod from the Earl.
Rutherford then looked at the carriage and understanding his actions, the man along with his associates bowed then ran towards the large carriage.
The rest of the family who was spectators in this encounter were suddenly signaled to follow him as he moved ahead.
The curious little girl who was rushing ahead to follow her father halted when she felt someone tugging on her hand.
Looking sideways, she saw another tiny hand hold hers and as she raised her head, she realized who it belonged to.
"Don't run on your own." Howard chided her though his reddening cheeks indicated that he was shy after his hand had grabbed hers on impulse.
These were unknown men and the horses were huge compared to normal horses so he did not want any accidents to happen.
His protective instincts had taken over him which led him to grab his little sister's hand whom he had vowed to protect.
Though this was unnecessary, Yvonne did not reject his kind gesture as she nodded towards him.
"Together." She muttered, bringing a smile to his face.
Raylene observed this scene as she followed her children who were right behind their father.
Rutherford brought them over to the carriage and after making sure that they were at a safe distance away from it, he signaled the same man from before.
This instruction was quickly followed as four muscular men stood at the end of the carriage and the leader from before turned a few knobs at the wooden wall at the back.
A loud click was heard and soon after, the top part of the wooden wall began to descend.
This made Rutherford hold his wife and children closer to avoid any mishaps even when they were surrounded by the others who would protect them in time.
The four men then held the descending wall of the carriage and gently let it drop to the ground.
The little girl's eyes marveled at this sight as it was familiar to something she had seen in the past.
'The entry of the carriage is from this back door which transforms into a ramp!' She discovered something that was fairly common in her previous life.
While others were focusing on this new mechanism, her eyes were busy trying to make out what was inside the carriage.
A faint outline of what was placed inside was to be seen but she couldn't make out anything in detail due to the dark interior of the massive carriage whose purpose she had now realized.
'This is like a truck, transporting goods from one place to another.' She noticed as everything about this carriage was bigger and more efficient for this purpose.
While Raylene was silent about her confusion with what they were looking at, Howard was not so calm.
"What is inside, Father?" He questioned as they had left his classes behind to come to see what this was.
Rutherford chuckled while ruffling his inquisitive son's hair and found it amusing that his usually curious little cat, his Vonna had not opened her mouth yet.
However, in the next second, he saw her turning her wide amethyst eyes in question towards him.
"His Majesty's birthday present." He revealed in a proud manner as his eyes turned towards what was inside the carriage.
The men who had appeared today were filled with joy at seeing this expression of their Master as they had done all this hard work to gain his praise and approval.
'Smart move…' Yvonne smirked as she had already deciphered what was inside this large truck-lookalike carriage.
