Chapter 440 - Outrageous!

Inside the room, Yvonne locked the door and headed to the bathroom where she changed her own clothes as she was not willing to wait until her maids could arrive.

She washed her hands and feet and even combed her hair while lost in her thoughts as she fell on the bed to give her mind some much-needed rest.

Her illusion from earlier replayed in her mind which caused her not to get the rest that she deserved.

The scene that she had witnessed in the woods was something that she had never seen before or even could have imagined in her wildest dreams.

'What could that have been?' She wondered as she now laid on the comfortable bed while staring at the ceiling.

This surely could not be a memory of the present Yvonne as she was still a child while the one whom she had seen in the vision was a grown adult.

She could also not recall any such scene in the script she read between Yvonne, the side villainess, and Topher, someone who was never even mentioned in the script.

'After all, Blue bird focused his script on the main leads and no one else.' She scoffed at the writer of the script who had thoroughly ignored everyone else while giving the limelight only to Fritzen and Hilda.

Therefore, she could not understand where this illusion had stemmed from.

If it wasn't a memory of her current body or a scene from the script then she could not find any other explanation about the incident that she had faced today.

With this thought swirling around in her mind, the little girl fell asleep after the tiresome travel to this fief and also the other activities that she had taken part in.

As her body dived deeper into the slumber, she was unaware of the fact that her three brothers were stationed in the room next door which belonged to Howard for the time being.

Since they were worried about her, they chose to keep watch over her and the best way they found was to stay in Howard's room until they were sure that she was alright.

Hours passed and they heard nothing from the room next door but they continued to remain vigilant in case something were to happen.

Only when it was time for evening tea did they hear sounds coming from outside which made the three peep out to see what was going on.

They watched in secret as the little girl's maids entered her room after knocking on the door.

This prompted them to hurry back to their rooms to change into fresh clothing while the little girl did the same.

Inside her room, Yvonne was trying to convince her maids that she did not have much trouble in dressing herself as they were shocked to see that she was in different clothes from the ones which they had helped her wear in the morning.

"Miss, you should have called us." Mrs. Jacinth sighed while helping her into new clothes for the evening tea time.

Yvonne smiled but did not answer as she had already told them that she was too tired to wait for them to rush over here and thus had changed without them.

Roselie combed her hair into a long ponytail which rested high on her head which along with the black dress she was wearing made her appear valiant and stern.

Pleased with what she looked like, Yvonne and her maids stepped out of the room but paused as soon as she was out.

"Big brothers?" She tilted her head and called out to the three boys who were loitering in the corridor right outside her room.

Roman was leaning on the wall next to her door, Knox was staring out the window at the end of the corridor and Howard was pacing from one end to the other.

Witnessing this sight, the little girl was baffled as she wondered what was going on.

Her voice alerted the three boys who had been waiting for her as they hurried to check on her.

Their keen and searching gaze on her made her realize what they were trying to achieve here.

'They must have been worried.' She surmised and judging by their looks, she was right as they were indeed troubled after noticing how she had appeared when they returned to the Mansion.

"I feel better after the nap." She exclaimed with a smile to assure them and ease their worries.

What she said was the truth as her troubled thoughts seemed to have faded after the nap that her body had been lulled into due to her fatigue.

Right now, she wasn't even thinking of what she had seen as she had more important things to do.

Noticing that she seemed better than before and even her pale cheeks had regained their flush, Roman was the first to nod in acceptance of her words.

Howard and Knox continued to gaze at her with worried eyes which were beginning to distress Mrs. Jacinth who also gazed at her with the same look.

While the old nanny was wondering if something had happened while they were away, Yvonne took this chance to sulk with a pouty face.

"I was just not used to the heat but I am fine now." She added to reassure them and only then did the nanny understand what might have taken place.

She knew that her Miss disliked the heat and decided to request the other maids to fetch her some cold water to be placed in the room.

The brothers accepted her words and only then did they move towards the parlor where the tea would be served.

Yvonne could feel their constant glances on her face but there was nothing else she could do to help ease their troubled thoughts so she chose to remain silent.

When they entered the parlor, two couples were seated on either side of the couch while the old man was on the other side.

This left one couch for the three boys and Yvonne was called to sit next to her Grandfather which she agreed without hesitation.

The three boys were seated opposite her which gave them the optimum position to watch over her.

'I said that I am fine!' She growled in her heart when she felt their gaze on her for the nth time today.

The cookies in her mouth were beginning to taste bland as she could not enjoy them under their severe gaze which was annoying her endlessly.

Thankfully, her uncle cleared his throat and got everyone's attention which succeeded in moving her out of the spotlight.

"Earl, about the family that you asked to be located." The Viscountess spoke to her father before handing a report over to him.

Rutherford was shocked that the task had been completed already and was impressed as he read the detailed report of what had taken place with the family in recent years.

The more he read, the more his brows furrowed which invoked the little girl's curiosity.

Feeling her constant gaze on him, Rutherford shook his head at his curious daughter and once he was done, he handed the report over to her so that she might also take a look at it.

This action of his made everyone in the Valente family widen their eyes.

However, the little girl's keen eyes which scanned the report swiftly before placing it on the table was further surprising to them.

'So that's what happened…' She frowned while thinking about what she had read just now.

Her thoughtful expression made the others wonder what was in that file and soon, the paper was passed around the entire room and everyone read its contents in quick succession.

Raylene and Trisha too were interested to know about this and after reading the report they were disgusted by what they had read.

Old man Valente had a grave look on his face as he was aware of a few aspects of the information present in the report but what he read made his face darken.

"Outrageous!" He slapped his thigh in anger, causing the women to flinch while the boys were astonished.

However, Yvonne who sat next to him was not affected by his outburst as she patted his hand gently to help him calm his anger.

"Don't worry, Grandpa. Vonny has an idea to teach them a lesson." She remarked with a cute smile that held traces of wicked mischief hidden in it.
