Chapter 473 - Howard's Worries

The last evening that the St. Claires would stay in this fief was both gloomy and energetic at the same time.

Everyone was happy that they had gotten the chance to meet and also sad that they would soon have to part ways.

Trisha stuck close to Raylene after hearing what had taken place with Paula.

Old man Valente was infuriated and promised to punish Paula if she ever stepped into the Valente fief in this lifetime.

On the other hand, Marcus was furious enough to send out a search party to find her and bring her back to punish her.

However, the women were able to calm him before he made any move.

Rutherford also gained some hostility from his brother-in-law even when he had done nothing wrong.

"IF you had strayed…" The Viscount's deadly glare was enough to prove that Rutherford would have been in a world of trouble if news of this had reached the doting older brother.

Thankfully, Rutherford was true to his love for Raylene and no harm had been made except for the true intentions of the maid being exposed.

While the adults were discussing this matter, the children were spending time on the archery grounds one last time.

"Miss, there is someone here for you." The Butler informed them when he arrived at their location.

His expressions proved that he was confused about what was going on but he did not reveal his thoughts.

Yvonne frowned at first but recalling a certain incident, she nodded and followed the man.

The three boys were soon to comprehend who might have arrived and with narrowed eyes, they followed after them.

When they arrived at the entrance of the Mansion, they found a crowd standing outside.

She saw her uncle, aunt, grandpa and all of their attending servants standing with their backs turned in her direction.

"Mama? Papa?" She called out when she saw them in the crowd as well.

When Rutherford heard his daughter's voice, he turned around in haste and carried her to safety.

'What's wrong?' She wondered while furrowing her brows at his vigilant appearance.

Turning her head in the direction that everyone was looking at, her eyes were fixed on the one who had come into her view.

A head full of murky green hair that scattered across a clean forehead.

Moving lower, Yvonne's eyes met a pair of bright hazel eyes which held tiny specks of black in them, adding to their radiance.

A long sharp nose followed by soft pink lips curved to form a wicked smirk is what she was facing right now.

"How long do you want to gawk?" A mocking voice was heard after those same lips parted.

The words she heard caused her to snap out of her daze as she narrowed her eyes at the young boy standing before her.

"Jax?" She muttered in suspicion and observing the sneer on his face, she did not need an answer to that question.

"You!" Howard raised his voice when he realized that this was the crook who wanted to harm his baby sister that day.

The boy standing before him was neatly dressed, had beautiful features, and most importantly, had a clean face.

'How are they the same person?' Howard was baffled as this boy looked nothing like the bloody-faced crook they had met in the woods.

Yvonne had the same thought as this face before her was enough to cause her jaw to drop in awe.

'Why are people so pretty in this world!?' She grumbled as even a crook she found in the middle of nowhere turned out to have such a beautiful face.

"Vonna, do you know this boy?" Rutherford inquired in a sour tone after noticing how his daughter truly was gawking at this stranger.

However, before Yvonne could find her words, Howard had decided to introduce the young stranger.

"Father, this is the boy we told you about. Jackson." He explained with a gloating look on his face as his father would surely kick him out now.

The children had informed the adults of the incident that took place in the woods which managed to infuriate the elders, chiding them for hiding this matter from Marcus when he had been nearby at that time.

Yvonne had taken the blame for the incident and also had informed them of why she had done so.

Both the elders and the boys were hoping that the crook would not show up but unfortunately, that boy was standing in front of them right now.

"It's Jax, not Jackson." The boy corrected Howard's mistake, unmindful of the vigilant glares he was receiving from everyone.

Raylene had been keeping a close watch on her daughter as by now she had understood that this little girl was susceptible to pretty faces.

'The same happened when she saw Young Master Brodie at the Serenity Haven Inn.' She recalled the incident when the young man had welcomed them in a special way.

"Why did you invite this boy here, Vonny?" She inquired, wishing to hear what she had planned.

Until now, Yvonne was busy gazing at Jax's pretty face which was completely out of her expectations.

'All that blood had hidden these features from me earlier!' She gulped her saliva as now she had the perfect view of this handsome young boy's face.

Therefore, when she heard her mother's inquiry, she blurted out what had been on her mind.

"I want Jax to be my Butler." She revealed without intending to do so in the least bit.

Her eyes widened the next moment when she realized what she had done and saw that everyone had a similar expression as hers.

Rutherford froze in his spot with his child in his arms, Raylene's jaw dropped in shock, Howard was stunned speechless and the rest were dazed for a moment.

The one who was most shocked with this revelation was none other than Jax, who was now blinking his bright hazel eyes, trying to comprehend the meaning of what the little girl had just said.

"Butler?" He repeated in a low mutter but the silence around them allowed his voice to reach their ears.

"No way!" Howard was the first to object once he recovered from his shock.

Not only was this the same boy who had not hesitated to attack Yvonne in the woods but he also had a pretty face.

'I already have enough people to save my sister from. If he enters our home then…' He shuddered while thinking about how he would have to stay vigilant during his stay at home as well.

Outside their estate in Amarthea, he had to ward off his best friend from sticking close to Yvonne.

In this fief, he had to stay wary of his cousins who wished to get closer to her.

His home was the only safe haven where he did not have to compete with anyone for her attention.

However, right now, Howard's worries were surrounding the boy who might become his sister's butler and stick close to her each day, causing him to compete against one more person.

Yvonne had no clue about the complex thoughts in her elder brother's head.

Therefore, she tilted her head and glanced at the little boy who had shouted out his rejection in a loud voice.

"Why not?" She retorted with an innocent look on her face.

This time, she was not pretending to appear cute as this was a genuine question that she desired to receive an answer to.

'In my old world, I had my assistant who would run errands and help me out whenever I asked her to.' She thought of her sincere assistant Terra who often rushed around the office to get her work done.

As she could not hire a female assistant to do the same, she had thought of using Jax as her male assistant.

'Calling him a Butler would be more appropriate for them to understand.' She noted since a butler was someone who helped their Master in whatever they were asked to do.

Since she had offered Jax a better life, her initial thoughts were to give him a job in their Mansion.

However, after taking a look at his face, she did not realize that she had just declared her desire to make him her butler who would serve, standing by her side at all times.

While this thought had been an impulse at first, she liked it the more she pondered over it.

'He can always be trained.' She blushed while thinking of how to proceed.
