Chapter 538 - Revealed His True Feelings

'She even made the others follow her suggestions by persuading them.' The doting father smiled when he thought of something else.

When Yvonne had given these suggestions to him, she had uttered vague words.

{Wouldn't it be nice if the others followed them too?}

She had muttered to herself at that time but he had failed to understand the meaning hidden behind them.

However, in the following weeks and months, he had come to discover the true intention of his daughter who had uttered those words in his presence.

Rutherford was putting it lightly when he said that Yvonne had persuaded the rest to follow her suggestions.

In fact, if he wasn't looking through the colored lenses of a doting father which he had on most of the time, the suggestions she had given to the others were done by 'pestering' and even 'blackmail'.

The others he was talking about were none other than the people their family had gotten close to in the last few years.

The Tanners, Sameds, Zavanths, Kirons, and finally their relatives, the Valentes.

Yvonne had spoken to Duke Tanner who was quick to understand that her suggestions were excellent and agreed to them.

As for the Kirons, all she had to do was speak to Jacob Kiron, their youngest son regarding her thoughts and he did the rest by convincing his father about the possible advantages of implementing them.

Viscount Zavanth was someone she was not yet familiar with so that task fell upon the Earl as he had met the other man on certain occasions for business purposes.

The Valentes did not need persuading as they listened to everything their little darling Yvonne suggested.

Finally, it was the Marquess who was the last to accept these suggestions.

If persuasion did not work for her tutor, Yvonne had other methods to get her way.

Marquess Samed was a smart man but had many weaknesses.

One of those weaknesses which she had seen quite a lot of was his tongue that never rested.

The Marquess feared many people which included the King, the Duke who was his brother-in-law, and even her father, the Earl.

However, there was someone scarier than these powerful men in the sights of the Marquess.

The day Yvonne had lost her patience, trying to convince this man to make these changes in the Samed fief, she did not feel remorseful as she decided to use underhanded methods.

All the little girl had to do was threaten the young tutor that she would reveal certain matters to his elder sister.

On that day, Rutherford witnessed the glorious sight of Marquess Sullivan Samed trembling after hearing that Yvonne would tattle to Duchess Tanner about the times that he had mocked her taste in art and even called her an 'Obsessive old lady'.

That much was enough to get Marquess Samed to follow her plans and thus, everyone she cared about implemented her suggestions well in advance.

Rutherford was sure that tomorrow, these people would be thanking the child for her ideas which would have saved them after the lockdown was put into action.

While he was smirking after recalling the sight of the trembling Marquess, his daughter was lost in her thoughts as well.

Yvonne nodded after hearing a part of what her father had to say regarding the letter that had arrived last night.

'So the Royal Medical Association has already concluded that this disease is a plague.' She discovered that things were moving faster than what she had read in the script.

According to that, the third great plague was a thing of the past that served as the backstory for the sufferings the Female Lead, Hilda, had endured.

As the authorities were taken by surprise with its sudden arrival and booming growth, the Royal family only sent the team from the Royal Medical Association to look into the situation after the disease had seeped into every fief.

However, thanks to Yvonne's timely intervention to prevent the massive loss of life that had taken place due to the plague, things were progressing in an orderly and well-thought-out fashion.

Once the Lockdown is initiated then they could stop the spread of the disease while the physicians begin working on trying to figure out what was the cause and how to cure it.

'That might take a long time.' Yvonne sighed as research and creation of the cure had taken the longest time in the entire process.

The other aspect which had consumed too much time, causing lives to be lost, she had already given a remedy to that.

'The construction of proper roads and trade routes will make the second part easier for them.' She recalled the other suggestion she had given.

The construction of more hospitals and even roads were at the top of the priority at that time.

Thankfully, King Ophire and his Ministers had felt the same and it had been quite some time since their construction had been completed.

Both the hospitals and the roads were being put to good use and they would become even more precious in the near future.

Thinking about the ideas she had given to the King through the Marquess being successfully implemented, gave her a slight sense of relief.

Now, all there was to do was stay safe inside their fief once Lockdown began and wait until the cure was found and distributed among the infected populace.

The other aspect that brought her comfort was that their fief would not suffer any loss during this period of distress.

With the storage houses being built and stocked up, rations could reach the poor and needy without having to open their borders for others.

They also had three clinics in case someone appeared to have similar symptoms as the one common in the plague.

'Though I doubt that will happen.' She shook her head, rejecting the thought that someone in the St. Claire fief would contract the same disease.

While it was never mentioned in the script about this fief being affected, following logic, it was easy to deduce that no such thing had taken place.

For it was clearly mentioned that the plague could not thrive in colder environments and sought to be in tropical environments or anywhere which became hotter than usual.

Added to this fact that the lockdown would soon begin, hindering travel which was the leading cause of the spread of the disease, Yvonne had no more worries and had confidence that it would not reach them.

The room fell into silence with their initial conversation coming to an end after Rutherford revealed the contents of the letter he had received yesterday.

Now was the time for her to reveal the purpose of her arrival to the office and asking her father if he had time to talk.

"Papa…" She cleared her throat, not wishing to drag this on any further.

Rutherford sat in attention, even going as far as holding his breath in order to not interrupt her.

She had finally begun speaking about what she had been hesitating to discuss all along hence he would stay as still as a statue until she was done.

"Do you miss Grandpa sometimes?" A feeble voice echoed in the silent room.

Yvonne was still unsure how she would reveal this matter to him and decided to move forward, one step at a time.

Rutherford had been waiting to hear what she had to say but he never would have imagined that she would bring this topic into their conversation.

Of course, he had understood which Grandfather she was referring to.

There was no necessity or reason for him to miss Raylene's father so the only other old man she could be talking about was his father, the Previous Earl.

Giving it a moment's thought, Rutherford did not lie and nodded his head.

"He was my father and raised me after Mother died so I miss him and mother at times." He revealed his true feelings without trying to hide his emotions from her.

Yvonne paused as that was the most common reaction which anyone in his situation would give.

"Do you still hate Grandpa?" She inquired, confusing the man all over again.

This time it was a shake of the head that acted as the response to her question.

"I forgave him a long time ago…" Rutherford looked down at his interlocked fingers as he said those words.

"After all… I know the reason behind the decisions he had made back then." The next whisper that echoed in the room resulted in Yvonne's eyes widening in shock.
