When Jax escorted the children to the mansion, he led them to the Office where they had been summoned.
Only Yvonne and Howard entered the room while Jax joined Butler Limo who was already standing outside the door, guarding it like he always did.
After entering the room, Yvonne found her father seated on the couch with someone right next to him.
Her amethyst eyes twinkled after coming in contact with those pink orbs that she was quite familiar with.
The children had no surprise in their eyes when they found their mother in the Office with their father.
After all, this was now a common sight for them to behold.
Earlier, Raylene had not been involved in matters outside the mansion but now, she was an equal partaker in all conversations and discussions regarding anything that concerned their family.
Rutherford did not keep her away from these matters for quite a while as he was now sure that there was no such need to conceal these aspects from her just because she was a woman.
If his daughter was so smart that she could go head to head with the other boys even older than her age then how much smarter could her mother be.
For this matter, Raylene too did not shy away like she would in the past.
Especially after learning more about her mother, Hannah Valente, from their trip to her maiden fief last summer.
Her mother was a competent woman and her daughter was brave and smart which made Raylene wish to assimilate these qualities from them.
Therefore, she had been working hard to fulfill her duties as the Countess and strived for the development of their fief during the long months that they had been trapped here due to the plague.
She had even fulfilled the promise she had made of donating clothing for the plague victims without any issues.
This made Rutherford proud of his wife and thus he involved her in every decision being taken for their fief and their family ever since.
Therefore, it was not a surprise that she too was present here when the children arrived after being summoned by their father.
The little girl smiled at her parents who seemed to be waiting for them and hurried to take her seat opposite them.
Howard occupied the seat next to her and the children glanced at their parents, prepared to hear whatever it might be that had caused the Earl to summon them.
Once Rutherford saw that his children were seated and comfortable, he glanced at his wife who nodded in an indication that he should begin now.
The husband smiled at her before turning his gaze towards his curious children who were eager to know why they had all assembled here.
"I heard news concerning the plague." He announced which made them widen their eyes.
The word 'plague' was associated with bad news for them which brought frowns to their faces.
'Did something go wrong?' Yvonne wondered as she tried to think back to the script and her dreams, searching for anything that could help her recall what could have taken place during this time.
However, she had minimal knowledge about the events during the plague as most of the memories were regarding the beginning and the end followed by the aftermath of the plague.
Therefore, she could only wait to gain more information from her father who seemed to know more about it.
On the other hand, Howard's brows scrunched at what kind of bad news their father might have received.
Noticing their drooping spirits, Rutherford did not keep them in suspense but revealed the news soon enough.
"A cure has been created by the Royal Medical Association." He informed the news which he had heard from trusted sources.
This was most certainly good news as now the people affected by the plague would no longer have to suffer and die in pain.
They could now be healed and with more effort, even halt the further progress of the plague.
Yvonne's frown transformed into surprise and joy at the information she had just received.
The cure which should have been created half a year later had already been developed by the highly intellectual and talented researchers and physicians of the Royal Medical Association.
Based on the script, the plague would last for over two years due to two reasons.
The first was the lack of a cure for the plague but once the cure was created, the failure to transport the cures to the affected areas became the second reason for its vast and heavy devastation.
However, after obtaining this stupendous news, Yvonne was sure that the plague would not last for long.
This was because the second reason for the plague to torment Rosenhyde's citizens was the bad routes which delayed the people transporting the cure to the affected fiefs.
Yvonne's efforts of suggesting changes to the King regarding the previous King's policies had already dealt with this drawback.
New routes were constructed and the existing ones were repaired to make journeys on them smooth and safe.
This gave her confidence that the plague would soon vanish from their Kingdom once the cure was mass-produced and provided to the victims.
While Yvonne was rejoicing that the people would be safe from the plague and its terror, the young boy next to her had something important to ask.
"Father, how did you get this news?" Howard questioned as he was sure that no one had entered their fief recently.
Every month on a selected date, the people from the Capital in charge of picking up the grains apportioned for the relief the Earl had promised would arrive and leave without delay.
One of them would arrive at their mansion in case they had any news to deliver.
However, today was not that day so he was curious to know how his father had gained knowledge of the cure being found when no one had arrived at their fief for whatever reason.
To this brilliant question asked, Yvonne nodded her head as she too was interested to know the answer.
She had been happy in her thoughts about the earlier eradication of the plague that she had failed to notice this abnormality.
Rutherford chuckled while looking at their suspicious and inquisitive faces.
"I spoke to Duke Tanner." He answered vaguely but they had understood nonetheless.
What Rutherford just said meant that he had spoken to Duke Obinn Tanner who was still in his own fief through the mediation of their etchers.
Using the two beasts as the point of contact between them, the Duke had connected with the Earl to reveal this joyous news to him.
Rutherford then went on to disclose further information he had received from that man.
"The cure will take time to be tested on a few plague victims and only then will it be distributed to the general populace who have been infected." He explained the next steps to be taken by the Royal Medical Association.
Once they completed this test, they would mass-produce the cure and supply it to the fiefs that needed it.
Yvonne nodded as this was a common step taken in her previous world as well.
The cure would be tested on a few patients to check if there would be any side effects after delivering it to the victim.
Only after making sure that nothing untoward happened to them would the medical bodies begin administering these cures to the rest of those who were affected.
From what she had heard from her father, the cure had just been found and they would move to the human testing phase.
She did not know how the Royal Medical Association would assess the potency and efficacy of the cure but she knew that it would be a few more months before their lives could regain normalcy.
Now, all they could do was wait till the cure passed this phase and moved to the next which was production and supply of the cures found.
"I will let you know if there will be any further news about the Capital." Rutherford's voice woke Yvonne up from her thoughts and she nodded along with Howard to accept his proposal.
The family then sat together and spoke for a little longer, discussing what could happen next and how they would continue to send relief to the affected fiefs until the plague came to a complete end.
While the St. Claire family members were deep in discussion, similar scenes could be found in various noble households throughout the Kingdom.
