Chapter 594 - Yvonne's Encounter With The King (2)

Yvonne remained silent while in the arms of the man who was taking her to a different place.

King Ophire glanced down at the child he was carrying and a smile appeared on his lips as he walked along.

He had just revealed one of the secret passages present in the Throne room by using it right before everyone's eyes.

However, he wasn't too worried as only people with Royal blood could open such secret pathways which were built for their safety and use.

Taking a few turns in the dimly lit pathway they had entered, Yvonne's eyes narrowed on instinct as the brightness grew exponentially as they approached the exit.

The King held his palm over her face, without touching her, which cast a shadow on her to shield her from the bright light.

Yvonne's muddled brain could only watch the man's side profile as she was being taken to a new location.

Upon reaching their destination, King Ophire took away his hand, allowing the child to take a look around the place where they had arrived.

Sun's light was pouring down on them through the open roof; however, Yvonne was certain that they were still inside the Main Palace.

Glancing around, she realized that she was right as they were still indoors but the sunroof had made it possible for this area to be lit up with natural light.

The large circular sunroof shed its light onto the table placed on the ground, right at the center of it.

There was fresh green grass in this sunlit area whereas the rest of the room that was not graced with the direct sunlight had marbled flooring.

The view was something she had not seen in either of her lives and this caused the little girl to gaze at it with awe.

King Ophire brought her to the table amid the grass and placed her on one of its chairs before occupying the one opposite her.

Now, the King and the little girl were facing each other, giving Yvonne the perfect opportunity to observe his facial features.

'The same jaw, those kind eyes, and that soft smile…' She analyzed with her heart aching at the sight before her.

Though she was just a child back then, Yvonne St. Claire still continued to have vague memories of her parents' appearance back in her previous life.

After being thrown into this new world, she had grown accustomed to calling Rutherford and Raylene her parents, and there were even moments when she forgot about her parents who had died early in her previous world.

However, all those memories came flooding back the moment she came face to face with the man who was seated in front of her right now.

The King whom she had been dreading to meet today was the cause of this occurrence.

'How did I not notice this earlier!?' She scoffed at her hazy mind which seemed to have failed her.

So many times she had seen this same man in her dreams depicting the 'deleted scenes' of the script from 'Yvonne's' point of view.

She had watched how 'Yvonne' interacted with him during those dreams.

However, she never once had felt that something was odd about him but today, she realized that she was wrong.

The man sitting before her had the face of the man whom she adored.

The man who would carry her on his broad shoulders as a child and take her on a stroll around their house despite being tired after a long day of work.

The man who snuck candies into her room when she was being punished and the man who loved her endlessly.

'The man I called 'Dada' in my previous life.' She declared in her heart while staring at the man with features that resembled her father, Harold St. Claire, in her previous life.

The cause for Yvonne's tears earlier was the face and voice of this man which were the same as her father who had died early on in her childhood years.

This man's face brought back memories of the past which she had thought to have forgotten after living a few carefree years in this world.

However, now she realized that those memories were only dormant and never forgotten.

"Has Miss St. Claire seen enough?" The King's words followed by a chuckle brought her back from her thoughts.

Yvonne stared at the man who looked like her father, Harold St. Claire in her previous life for a second longer before nodding in reply.

"Forgive me, Your Majesty, for my rude behavior." She lowered her head while apologizing.

King Ophire frowned after looking at her actions and shook his head.

"You do not have to apologize for anything." He answered and raised his hand, pouring her a cup of tea.

The man before her looked like her father and even sounded like her father but she was not sure if he was the same man.

'Did that blue bird pull Dada also into this world?' She wondered what this anomaly could mean.

However, her father had been dead for decades in her previous life so she was still left with doubts about the strange and uncanny resemblance between the two men.

"Why do you look so familiar?"

While she was trying to decipher what the annoying bird god had planned, she heard a mutter coming from the King.

Raising her head to look at him, she found him looking back at her with a searching look in his eyes.

King Ophire Rosenhyde had never seen this child before and he was most certain of this fact.

He had only ever heard about Yvonne St. Claire and that was through Marquess Samed who happened to be her tutor and also the Princess's Royal Tutor.

The two had no other intersections where they could have known each other but he could only deny that he felt a connection with this child.

The moment he had gazed upon her face, his heart both leaped with joy and clenched in pain.

There was a longing in his heart which even he did not know existed until that very moment.

When he heard her calling him 'Dada', he knew what it meant and a strange ecstatic feeling arose in him which made him walk towards her.

Seeing the tears brimming in her eyes only hastened his steps to take her in his arms and calm her, comfort her so that she might stop shedding those precious tears.

Even the name, 'Von' that he had used to affectionately call out to her was something that had come innately to him.

He did not know why he was behaving this way but knew that he would regret it if he did nothing but stay still.

Therefore, to calm his own heart and to seek some answers, the King had decided to take her away while he was embracing the child he had met for the very first time today.

Yvonne was unaware of the thoughts in his mind but hearing his doubtful murmur, she needed to know more about the strange situation they were stuck in.

'Does he know who I am?' She was both nervous and excited to see if he was her father or just someone who looked like her father.

As curious as she was, she needed to be cautious too.

She could not just ask him if he recalled his previous life where she was his daughter and he was her Dada.

She needed to handle this situation in a tactful manner lest she offends the King or reveals more than she should.

After all, to the people in this kingdom, she was the daughter of Earl St. Claire, and disclosing more than what was necessary could land her in trouble.

Keeping these thoughts in her mind, Yvonne calmed her wary mind in preparation for what she was about to do.

"I do not think that we have met before, Your Majesty." She answered the query which he had muttered earlier.

She wished to remind him that this was their first meeting and there was no way that he would have seen her before today that made him feel that she looked familiar.

In reply, King Ophire nodded as she was right and today was their first meeting.

The only way the little girl could explain his feeling of familiarity was that he truly was her father from the previous world.

However, she would have to wait for long to know whether this was true or just her imagination.

On the other side of the table, King Ophire rubbed his chin as he was trying to make sense of what had taken place.

"Then would Miss St. Claire care to explain why she called me her father?" He tossed out another question and raised his brows at the reaction he got from her.

Yvonne was thinking of the speculations she had come up with when she heard this upfront question from the King.

Caught off guard by his words, the little girl's eyes widened in surprise.

'How does he know the meaning of that word!?' She grimaced as this was not a word used by people in this world.

However, she was quick to revert to her usual expression but it was already too late as the King had been observing her from the moment he had brought her to this place.

'This is interesting.' The King bemused as he waited with raised brows to hear what she had to say for herself.

Left with numerous questions still swirling around in her head, Yvonne gulped while thinking of a way to explain why she had called him her father back in the Throne room.
