Chapter 650 - Found No Repose

Yvonne stared at the bright afternoon skies which were painted blue with splashes of white across them.

However, there wasn't admiration for the beautiful scenery that laid before her eyes.

Instead, there was anger bubbling up in her chest as she leered at the skies with animosity and hostility radiating through her entire body.

___

A few minutes earlier,

The Valente family had been assigned their respective rooms in no time thanks to the trusted Butler's quick actions.

They were all set to head back to their rooms to rest but not before accomplishing a few tasks.

Knox was snuggling with Fryght while the others were in awe of their precious sight.

Howard sat beside his elder cousin as they discussed how adorable this puppy was in comparison to the scary-looking Demon..

The owner of the etcher being criticized rolled her eyes before she scoffed at them for not knowing the truth.

Her Demon was cute just the way he was but Fryght had another appearance which not many knew about.

Therefore, Yvonne could not gawk at the puppy with the same adoration as before.

Ever since she had seen his true appearance, her perception of Fryght had changed forever in her heart.

This little puppy who was willingly having his belly scratched by the younger Valente twin was not as simple as he appeared.

The sight of the massive wolf she had seen in the woods was still vivid in her memory.

Therefore, she shook her head at Fryght whom she now knew was a master at pretending to be a pitiful and adorable creature when in truth he was an existence to be feared.

Seeing the appearance that he concealed at all times was still a traumatic episode in the little girl's mind which would take time to heal.

Thus she no longer gazed at Fryght with longing in her eyes but had already diverted her mind elsewhere.

Similarly, Roman was at first interested to see the kind of etcher their uncle possessed but soon after, his attention was attracted in another direction.

Yvonne's eyes were now fixed on her butler, Jax, who seemed to be under the strict scrutiny of her elder cousin.

Roman had been against this vagrant getting close to their Vonny but she had insisted and they could no longer object to it.

He had tried to look for information about this younger boy after he had left with the St. Claire family from the Valente estate that summer.

However, the trail to find clues about Jax's former years before he entered the Valente fief had run cold and there was no way for him to gain any valuable information.

Therefore, he had let the matter rest back then but now that he was in the same place as Jax, he would keep an eye on him to see how he behaved.

Jax had not experienced such wary and doubting looks in a long time.

The people of the St. Claire family, in the beginning, had been hesitant to get closer to him and were curious to know his intentions for following their young miss here.

However, those doubts and questions had faded over time and all that was left was a deep sense of camaraderie that he had worked hard to attain between them.

Therefore, once again seeing the same hostility from earlier being directed towards him, Jax wasn't rattled.

Following the teachings from his mentors, he displayed a practiced smile before bowing to the man who was leering at him.

Yvonne gave him a silent round of applause in her heart for his endurance and his way of dealing with someone who wasn't too keen about him.

On the other side, Uncle Marcus was busy appraising the house in which his baby sister resided after separating from him in the past.

His scrutinizing gaze was similar to Roman's as his eyes scanned the parlor where they had been seated.

Rutherford had already understood his thoughts but did nothing to stop him.

With a proud smirk on his face, he sat while waiting to see the look of defeat in his brother-in-law's eyes for having given Raylene a much more lavish lifestyle than her maiden family ever could.

Only Raylene and Trisha were engaging in a genuine conversation about how they had spent their time during the lockdown.

Butler Limo appeared as soon as he was done with his preparations and assigned servants to guide the members of the Valente family to their respective rooms.

The twins were allotted rooms on the same floor as the St. Claire siblings while the Valente couple were placed closer to the Earl and Countess's room.

Thus now they were all set to go their separate ways.

Yvonne headed to her room with her brother and cousins with Mrs. Jacinth and Roselie following them from a distance.

The children separated when they reached their respective rooms after deciding to meet at the training grounds for a spar session before evening tea.

It was still around two in the afternoon so they could rest for a couple of hours until then.

Yvonne was the last to reach her room as hers was on the farthest corner on that floor.

Her maids were quick to help her out of the grandeur dress that she had worn to meet the King in the Palace today.

It was around naptime for the little girl so the maids hurried to complete their job so that their Miss could rest well until it was time to meet the others once again.

Yvonne watched as her maids left the room soon after she was changed into a pure white chemise gown which reached her ankles and covered her hands to her wrists.

Summer was en route which made her recall that she would soon like to shift to her summertime wardrobe for the sweltering heat that would be here in no time.

She then laid on the bed but found no repose as her body refused to fall asleep.

Thoughts about everything she had experienced today swirled around in her mind.

The King turned out to resemble her father from her previous world.

His surprising knowledge about her involvement in the policies and also becoming aware that her tutor had betrayed her a long time ago in the past.

The Ministers being informed about the same and then the King praising her mother for her quick-witted decision to help during the plague.

Her father added to her troubles by revealing her suggestion to build granaries in their fief.

Meeting so many new faces along with a few old ones whom she wished to not mingle with.

The Princess was a generous host but had been caught looking at her quite a few times.

There was also the rude Prince whose efforts to kidnap her had worked to correct her misconceptions about the plot of the script and the changes which seemed to have taken place due to her involvement.

'And knowing that I already met the Grand Duke…' She glowered at this information that the Pig Prince had revealed to her.

The King, through his ministers, exposed her involvement before the other nobles and also revealed what his true stance on that matter was.

Finally, now here she was, sitting up in bed because she no longer could lay still after recollecting everything that had taken place during the course of just one morning.

Her feet fell to the ground and she decided to use the pent-up energy inside her to take a walk around.

Every day after lunch hours was the break time for the servants so the mansion appeared to be deserted right now.

The masters were all in their rooms, resting, but the youngest in the family was walking about but with no direction in mind.

Wandering with no aim, Yvonne reached the back garden of the St. Claire estate and her feet headed towards the stables.

Now that she was already outside, she decided to greet her etcher and spend some quality time with him as she knew that she would be punished soon.

She and Demon had been caught by the Earl when they tried something stupid to get out of entering the Palace.

Rutherford had not punished them right away but had put off that decision until they could return from the Palace.

Now that they were back, she knew that they could not escape from his punishment any longer.

'He might ground me and Demon once again.' She mulled over what her father would choose as their punishment.

Thus she planned to spend as much time with her etcher before that could take place.
