Chapter 148 148: Elsewhere III

Cole could feel Morgan within the Mechanoid Direwolf King, he had initially thought it would not be possible to have the AI brought into a place that's called the soul dimension….but them again Morgan was a tool and not really a soul. But be that as it may Cole was not one to bother about all these nuances, there were things he couldn't understand, especially in this new universe that was dawning. But that was okay, it wasn't as if he understood everything in his own universe in the first place.

Morgan took off running, going in the direction of two hills facing each other, a location that was decidedly north east. The landscape went last as Morgan rushed forwards, trees, buildings, heck even what seemed to be the remains or rather the frame of a cruise ship. But somehow the hills that he had noticed not more than a few hundred meters away, a distance he would have possibly walked in five minutes had somehow grown bigger. They had been riding hard for the last ten minutes and they were yet to arrive at their destination. Or rather they had arrived but it was on a scope that Cole never thought possible.

The hills had grown to be massive mountain ranges with a pass in between them that was absolutely blazing with what Cole would call the fiercest winds he has ever seen. The hills that had transformed to lofty mountain peaks now took on the shape of men facing each other with their arms outstretched. Real life statues the size of a freaking mountain, or rather it would be better to say that they were actually carved out of a mountain and used to artistically create a road through the mountain itself. It was like something you could see out of a lord of the rings movie or something, ultimately though everything was still all in white.

There was no variation to the shade, it was as if he had been shrunk and placed in some model town made with white cardboard. But of course even the sun and the air and stars and moons were white…..it was creepy. Cole urged Morgan forward as they went into the path/valley that had been carved by the two massive statues facing each other. There were trees lining the roar on each side, and they all looked as if they were alive but yet they lacked substance by remaining the same color as everything else. He turned around and noticed with a start that the mountains were now just hills in the distance now, he turned around and found that they were now running into what looks to be the ruins of a city, there was absolutely no sign of lifeless white trees.

Cole realized that every time he moved his head or his eyes, the things that he had seen already would change into something different, and entirely different scene or location from what he had been looking at just a second ago. This place was maddening and seemed designed to drive anybody here insane, this was not a world Cole felt he could understand or would want to even understand. They say that to know the soul is to understand a person but perhaps the soul itself is insanity. An amalgamation of everything that you are, experience, memories emotions, choices, love... the soul is a window into Madness.

There was a flash of light, soft red mixed with gold and dark purples. Cole turned Morgan in that direction and rode him hard, their path taking them past a….stone forest? The ruins were gone as they weaved, bobbed and leapt off a variety of rocks and stones of different sizes. If you asked Cole he would say this looked like a palace where a very large meteorite landed or perhaps where a mountain exploded to bits. He cursed but was luckily able to still see the direction that the lights were coming from. They went found a long oblong pillar and came to stop in front of a massive smooth cliff face that somehow Cole had missed as they traveled through the forest, it went high enough that Cole was wondering if it was not made by the same architect who did the empire state building….. and just like that Cole was standing in front of that same building.

He shuddered, he couldn't help himself as his mind was pushed to the limit about what was possible here. It offered a lot of power if you could just will something changed with just your thought. And since the system says everything that happens here is reflected in the real world only God knows if Cole had not just teleported a massive rock mountain to New York city.

He looked up and noticed that the light was now coming from the top of the building. He growled softly as he urged Morgan forwards and they went into the building. Cole suspected that anything working here is probably not doing so in much the same way it does in the real world. Which means he gave up the elevator and took the stairs instead. It wouldn't be wise to play with electricity in the soul realm, stairs are strong, stairs are reliable.

Morgan put up speed as the Mechanoid Direwolf began to blow out steam as he rushed up the stairs, there were creaks and hisses coming from his body as he worked himself to limit, moving at a speed that was at least pulling at the skin on Cole's face. They got to the roof and rushed out, coming out of a cave on a beach of a dried up ocean, leading up to a small island in the distance with a lighthouse on it, and beams of light coming from it.

Cole turned around, and saw that he had just come out of a cave, there was no more empire state building and stairs to worry about…..so much stairs. He turned and was not even to surprised to discover that the lighthouse had transformed into a Castle, and the dried up ocean before it had turned into verdant fields of white and white, more white flowers. Cole sighed, he really had no idea how much more of this he could take, perhaps it would be better to ignore everything else and just focus on where he wants to go, not be so enamored by the continuously changing scenery.

"Head for the Castle Morgan!" Cole ordered as the Direwolf King took off at a quick trot then into a full blown run. Cole smiled as the distance went past them normally and at the right pace, he kept his focus on where he was going as hard as he could, of course a few seconds later Cole realized he was just going to give himself a headache and just decided to relax a bit and ignore all distractions. He didn't need to be so focused, just sure of his destination and leaving the thought in his head. In no time at all they arrived in front of a drawbridge, and just in time too for Cole to get shot in the chest.

*Bang!*

Cole was flung off Morgan as he crashed into the ground, his head bouncing a few times as the taste of blood filled his mouth. He heard Morgan open fire, and also heard a couple of refund fires too. Cole shook his head and got up, immediately he noticed that the scene had changed again. Everything was still white, but now it looked like they were at the docks of some city, and were in front of a warehouse that at the moment was filled with people …..how were they people here?

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Cole cursed as he got back up to his feet, feeling rather than seeing the bullet pushed out of his body by his healing. He grunted at the feel of it, it was small and didn't even cause enough damage to Cole's body, it was just the impact at which it was moving and their own speed that Cole was thrown off. They would need to use something with a larger caliber if they really wanted to cause him any significant damage, but until they discover that, Cole was going to pay someone back for a gunshot.

[Spectral Rover] [Chaos Blast]

And a quick return to his perch on Morgan's back, the first line of people defending the entrance of the warehouse went poof, swallowed by an explosion of chaotic energy that quite frankly might not exactly be a good idea to let off in a palace called the soul dimension. But of course after the attack went off, Cole could see every trace of chaos, in here, in this world, the blackish purple aura left after Chaos Blast had went off, seemed to rapidly undergo a metamorphosis as they turned white a vanished. Either way Cole had other things to worry about ad they burst into the warehouse which then transformed into a space craft hanger as their gaze went out into the distant stars, and the hundreds of people on railings all pointing their guns at him.

"Fuck! Shit!"
