Wuse Market was unlike what it looked like a couple hundred years ago, the entire Area have all been elevated into massive high rise buildings that weren't just as tall as the Burj khalifa in Dubai, but surpasses it by being literal space lifts. The literal thousands of floors on the 9 high rises that made up the modern Wuse Market, was just an elaborate flight of stairs leading up to the satellite colony in orbit…. The Abiodun. One of the few achievements that the Federal Republic of Nigeria could take pride in.
But ultimately government was a joke, sure they still had a lot of power but in an interstellar age, that power was no where near what you would have expected of it. But never the less the nation survived, through civil wars, religious riots, bandits, terrorists, messed up politicians, and so many other things including the 3rd world war and the birth of the intergalactic Council. Either way Cole was not here for a history lesson, he actually was here to get himself a new wardrobe of clothes as there was not much in the manor, and his apartment with Sarah had been blown to bits.
"I don't understand why you decided to follow me to go shopping, all I asked you to was pack a spare set of underwear." Cole grumbled as he wheeled Tehilla through the crowds of people that were busy going up and down and every which way. The person in question shrugged her shoulders and leaned back on the wheelchair, admiring her environment.
Cole looked down with a bit of guilt. Even before he ran for his life from the crazy bitch…..which of course he knows he shouldn't call crazy as that was not polite. Anyways even before then Tehilla was never one to leave the house or go shopping or all around knew how to have fun. She was isolated and all she breathed and did was work to the expectations of her family and her father. Cole was her next task, her next responsibility but at the same time it was a chance for the young Tehilla to finally get something done for herself, she didn't even care that there was a three year difference between the both of them.
An engagement meant a chance for love, a chance to be wanted and loved unconditionally, unfortunately she was not what you would consider normal. Sure she had mental issues but it was not so bad that Tehilla was incapable of interacting with society or having a life within it. People just saw her as weird, her inability to properly project her emotions or even show it was a total turn off for any guy other than a gold digger who wanted a bite of her inheritance. The right Guy would have been patient and learned to read and understand her, and up until she was left in the rain she had thought that Cole was the right person.
He was charming, a celebrity and a talent of not just international but interplanetary acclaim. Even if his family was just two generations into the whole organized crime scene, he was still well known and respected enough within many circles to make him a valuable catch. Plus what many people other than herself don't know is that Cole was Tehillah's first and up till date only celebrity crush. Marrying him should have been a dream come through.
But he wasn't the one to be patient, to wait and understand the limited emotional spectrum of his fiancée. To understand that even though older she was just as clueless about the world as an 8 year old. But that was in the past now, both Tehilla and Cole knew that right now they were both very different types of people. Cole stepped into the first high rise that catered mostly to clothing and jewelry, it was absolutely bonkers that each of the thousands of floors in all 9 buildings were stores or groups of stores selling variation of the same thing.
"What are you here for? I'm pretty sure you would want designer brands but which one?" Tehilla asked, and as if by magic a woman stepped forth towards them, her smile so bright it was almost blinding.
"Welcome! My name is Fatima and I work for. Zakir Couture, please won't you like to step onto our floor, we have everything you would need from corporate wears to stream threads all the way. We have suits of the finest quality with tailors around to adjust and even create clothing to your exact specifications. And if you are a high roller as I suspect you are Mr. Cole Night! We offered services to make bulletproof and combat capable clothing incorporating the latest technology and techniques in clothed making and armor smiting. What do you say sir?" the woman asked as she gave a small bow to a smiling Cole as Tehilla turned to him surprise.
"We came all the way out here to make you some superhero costume? Or are you still planning on going to war with your uncle?" she asked as she turned a bit. But Cole shook his head, giving a smile to the woman who damn near squealed when she saw him do that. She had already drawn attention to him from just her introduction, but now her squeal was confirmation that there really was a celebrity in the building and it baffled Cole. It has been a really long time since he was seen or approached as a celebrity.
Cole wheeler Tehilla forward and nodded to the woman to lead the way. She didn't waste any time as she quickly rushed them to a private elevator and away from the grasp of the raving wild animals known as Fans….. though in all honesty it felt good to be known and loved once again. He would make sure to not make any more stupid mistakes with his second chance, because Cole was no hypocrite, as Solitary as he was, he honestly liked attention…. He liked attention a lot.
"How Long until your spine is fully repaired Tehilla?" Cole answered as he attempted to make small talk while they shared the elevator with the still beaming woman. Tehilla raised an eyebrow in confusion as she wasn't exactly sure where this was coming from, so she asked.
"Why do you care?" Cole shrugged.
"I'm not sure that I do….arghhhhhh! Fuck I'll be straight with you….. I feel like I owe you, somehow I feel that I've done you a great wrong and there's not enough years in my entire lifespan to be spent making up for it. So I'm trying my best to protect you, to watch out for you, and provide anything you could possibly need or want…. Because I feel that I-"
"You owe me, yes I got that the first time you said it. And frankly I don't know what you want me to say. I don't care much for a relationship with you anymore, yes we're engaged again and it would up to us to make sure your family and your grandmother's legacy does not fall to the ground. But you know me, I'm practical, I don't feel much but only you have been the person to have made me hate, get broken hearted and…. Feel love. Now there's just nothing left, we should stay focused on what we need to do, I know you're the big shot now but I don't really want anything to do with you-"
Cole had wanted to cut her off so he moved to touch her shoulder. He felt her freeze up as she quickly turned her head to look at him, her body damn near getting up from the wheelchair she was sitting on. Cole stepped back surprised while their guide stood there watching the drama in awkward silence. Cole shook his head but at the same time that reaction could not be faked, so he had to ask.
"Are you afraid of me?" he cocked his head to the side as Tehilla jerked her head up and glared at him, tears filled her eyes as she said to him with steel in her voice.
"I am not afraid of anyone! Least of all you." She composed herself and turned to face the elevator doors, but see at this point she had flipped a switch in Cole's head. So he pulled her wheelchair back and spun it so that Tehilla was looking right at him with barely a ten centimeter space between their heads. Her eyes shot wide open and she attempted to pull back, but Cole dragged the wheelchair closer his leg getting in between hers and coming to a rest on her crotch.
She shook but held her body stiff as the tears she was holding back slipped down. At that moment Cole could tell that Tehilla had changed, the coldness in the end had all been just an act. Now she looked innocent, weak, delicate, he chuckled and sniffed her, taking a deep breath as She whimpered…..and Cole smiled, dark chuckles escaping from the back of his throat…. It was one of a hunter finding his prey.
