Fear is an extremely powerful tool, especially when you know how to use it right. And While Cole wouldn't say he knew exactly just how to use fear to motivate or control a person, lately he was becoming more and more conversant with that method of dealing with people. It pretty much with the territory of being as powerful as he currently is.
After it had dawned on the Dremonai that their champion and their most powerful weapon had fallen short of being able to stop the monster that was Cole, they let out collective hisses as they stepped back. Cole did not much care for their reactions as he stretched out his hand towards the spear, and much to his expectations 'Methuselah' leapt up into his hands, acknowledging him as it's new master, a move that left Cole with the widest grin ever.
[The Spear Of Life and Green Has Acknowledged A New Master!]
That was all there was to that notification, of course Cole could receive even more information if he wanted to, but ultimately he still had to deal with the screeches of madness that came up once the Dremonai realized that inadvertently Cole had come into possession of their most valuable possession. But then again there really wasn't anything that they could do about it, the spear itself had now become bonded to Cole, if they wanted to drag it out of his possession, they would have to do it from his cold corpse in much the same manner he just did from their champion.
But while they might seem like a bunch of crazed religious fanatics they were not exactly stupid. Cole had beaten their stringers while he was being fully boosted by the power of the spear, they would not be able to even leave a scratch on him now that he had the spear in his possession. All they could do was screech at him like a pack of animals while they quickly took steps back as he advanced. Cole turned in the direction of Irma and a shocked Convoy mercenaries as he said to them.
"are you guys waiting for an invitation or what? Let's get moving please I really need to use the toilet." Not that he needed to, it just seemed like the most appropriate thing to say at that moment to get everyone up and moving. Never the less it wasn't exactly over as another Dremonai, this one female launched herself at Cole.
She was absolutely manic and blinded with rage and grief as she scratched at him with all too sharp claws in an attempt to ruin Cole's face. Funny enough he let her do as she wanted. He remained standing in the same position as she attacked him, even going so far as yank the spear out of his hand and completely run him through with. Cole grunted in pain and gave a blood filled smile, she gasped and pulled the spear out, holding it close to her chest as she took multiple steps back, yelling at him.
"You're not worthy! You must die! You're not worthy!" it didn't matter to Cole as right before their eyes all of his injuries healed in the blink of an eye. Even with the absence of the spear, in just the little time he had spent fighting with the Dremonai he realized that without being in contact with the spear, he couldn't utilize the spear's healing ability. This was more than enough proof to them that Cole was on a whole other level. And he proved that again when he swung the butt of Blue Obsidian into the side of the unsuspecting Dremonai's head. Utilizing a great deal of force and the skill [Assassinate].
Her head caved in and promptly exploded into a shower of gore as the spear leapt out of her hands before she even touched the ground. Cole caught it and promptly sent it to his inventory, he'll deal with it later. The Dremonai did not stand on ceremony as they all ran, vanishing into entrances in the side of the bridge with some of them even jumping out the side to land on the massive vines and lines that held the bridge in place across the gorge they had to cross over.
Now that he thought about it, the spear was probably responsible for the way this structure was built or kept suspended over the gorge, a good display of it's power. Cole was appreciative, everything he currently owned in regards to weapons is designed to destroy and cause death. The spear is the only life giving weapon or tool he had in his disposal, Cole knew for a fact he was going to cherish it and use it well. The convoy began to move as the truck they were in caught up to him.
Irma and her mercenaries watched soundlessly as he got back into the back of the truck and waited for it to start moving. By this point they all pretty much felt like they had a ticking time bomb on their backs. But not much could be done about it, they had taken money from Cole to ferry him to a safe place, going against that was a sure fire way to have a meeting with the grim reaper.
Cole watched on impassively as the convoy rolled passed the bridge. He had to admit that the structure was a wonder of architecture. Massive vines stretched out akin to beams to support the building, preventing it from falling apart by the hollowing in it's middle. The vines themselves were so dark to the point of blackness that they did not look like vines, if not for the fact that Cole was now the new owner of the Black Spear Methuselah he would not have known that the vines were a product of it's ability, he was giddy with excitement about what he would now be able to achieve with it now in his possession.
There were a few Dremonai peaking out from hidden alcoves, watching closely as the convoy moved through the bridge until finally they arrived at a pair of massive double doors that opened up into a wide plain or hard packed earth and a tarred road that was almost completely falling apart. They left the bridge without much fanfare and Cole kept his gaze on it. Even when the Dremonai's shut the gates with a loud clang that seemed to regenerate across the entirety of the area, it was obvious they would not be wanting anybody passing through any time soon.
Cole settled back into his seat as he reflected over what just happened. It was an extremely dominating sight for him to have defeated the Dremonai the way he did, but if Cole had to be honest he was a bit worried as that was not his usual way of doing things. He had made the entire thing a show, which while it admittedly got the message across, was a waste of time an energy. He never underestimated his opponents but now he seemed to be developing an arrogance so powerful it had seeped deep into his bones.
Cole had always been someone that was extremely prideful, but never to the level where he would completely underestimated his opponents. Cole never did that, he fought with everything he had even if he was facing an ant, something was wrong. This train of thought and the new change to his character had an edge to it that was almost….Demonic.
"Fuck!" Cole whispered to himself as realization dawned on him, he has been changing slowly ever since he became a [Raen Spawn] and with each subsequent growth he was becoming more and more dark, steeped in evil, rage and a bloodlust that was so palpable he could almost taste it on his tongue. He scoffed, he refused to be a slave to even his own body, his mind was his own, continuing like this was a sure fire way to get himself killed one day, he needed to ground himself and reaffirm just who he was and how he needed to deal with every challenge that came his way.
Cole set his attention back to the road, watching the ruined landscape move by as they drove to safety. He needed a cradle as soon as possible and he also needed to return to the 3rd floor and see what direction he could push it's development. With the way things were right now it would be better for him to go at a slower pace, so the best he could now was try and cultivate his assets. At the moment he still was not able to access his inventory in the real world, but that was something be was hoping the fifth floor would change as he had been told. And once that happens he could at least start cultivating a force of his own, in preparation for the invasion of dungeons that were sure to come.
Plus it was more power for him, and then again there would also be an influx of new Aspirants, making the competition that much tougher, even more son for them as they would be starting from the 5th floor as opposed to the others who had started from the first and grown from there. There was just so much to be done and so little time to achieve it, but be that as it may, Cole knew without a doubt…..he was going to triumph and if at all someone decides to stand in his way, then he'll make sure to…. BREAK THEIR FREAKING WORLD APART!
