Chapter 272 272: Part 1: Departure II

They did manage to figure it out, their solution had come from their original reason for going out into space in the first place; Cassandra. It was an unexpected one, but it was also the most viable. Tehilla s would still be running her mine and Colony even if she was not present, all Cassandra had to do was be physical representation of her authority here. Plus Cassandra and her son Razor were aspirants, Cole was not so worried about his enemies going after those two, they would find that the mother and son were pretty up to the challenge.

But now there was a bit of trouble that Cole had to deal with. Not too long after his talk with Tehilla and their coming up with a solution, Delarosa had popped out of his shadow, having hitched a free ride into his Universe by staying in Cole's bloody shadow. It was a massive loophole, and Delarosa was abusing the hell out of him, not to mention she could see his inventory whenever she was in his shadow.

Either way she had asked him to help her find her brother. Said brother in this case being Dragon, the head of Cole's security team. An extremely powerful group of people called the zodiacs, plucked somehow from another Universe and dumped in his by a game company. Nothing makes sense anymore, but Cole saw going along with Delarosa's demands as a way for them to kill time, and in so doing found out the garish sight that now lay in front of him, he regretted immediately.

"This is gross." Cole said with a sniff, but Delarosa did not respond, instead she brought her knees together and laid her head on it as she sweetly watched the travesty occurring below them. Cole gagged as he shivered, not that he was not guilty of the same thing, but seeing such a public display of affection was unbecoming. And it was not sultry and sexy and he and Tehilla made it seem, this was sweet…..too sweet.

Dragon and Cassandra in a dress mind you, were standing over a railing and looking down at the lower levels of the colony. Dozens of small and large mining ships wheezed past them as the noise of the colony drowned them in a symphony as all they did was stare at each other's eyes and whisper…..when did this happen? How did this happen? What is happening?

If Cole had the answer he would not be sitting here confused. Wasn't it Cassandra, Irma and Farida that had waylaid him about which of them he wanted….. or something along that line. Now, and it wasn't that long ago mind you, she was all wrapped in Dragon's muscly arms in a black tank top. Cole needed to put a stop to this, it was going to give him a toothache.

"It's been a long time since I've seen that look on his face…..he was always so serious…..so sad." Delarosa mumbled as she smiled, obviously there was a story here, but Cole had never really dove deep into his subordinates lives unless his attention was needed, like it was in the case of Raven Nightmoon. But perhaps a change was in order, he needed them loyal, and that meant he had to know them, and they him.

"We were born orphans, my brothers and I. Life wasn't hard, our civilization was significantly more advanced than yours. Not to mention our dead parents had money….a boat load of it. They were aspirants, just like you they went to another Universe' to fight and grow stronger, their souls away in another body their real body left behind for their lives ones to watch.

It was just like a game they all said, it'll be fun you'll see. Once you become an aspirant like us, you would be able to be even more powerful and add new powers to your own. One day their souls never came back, and their bodies turned to dust a week later. We had no one, just a big house, an empty name and a lot money in our parents bank accounts and in our ridiculously large trust fund. Everyone wanted to take care of the Rodan children, everyone tried. And they all failed, and we became the rejected, the neglected…. We just weren't good enough to love. Not when we threw temper tantrums and entire neighborhoods sink into the earth.

So no love from anyone but what us three had for each other. The system was a constant presence by then, quests came, we got a bit of direction and we moved on and grew. Trying to be heroes and be strong for when the Incursion is complete. Then my brother made a deal, got in touch with the strongest hero in our planet and with some system hullabaloo vanished into nothingness with her.

The Baneling plague came, our baby brother was amongst the first wave to get turned, I put him down myself and made peace with my death when I saw he bit me. I needed my brother then, but where was he…..gone…. chasing after a skirt…..now he's doing it again, perhaps he'll be forgotten again and relegated into being a guard for some kid with more potential than him…. It's all he fucking deserves!" Delarosa vanished into Cole's shadow, her mood haven done a 180 as she told their story…. Cole knew there was much more to it. But he at least now understood where they were coming from, and who they are as people.

Well while he felt as if everything was a disaster, he did hope that they were at least happy with each other. Or that what they had was not just some fling seeing as it hasn't been long since they first met. But bonds are good, for all of them. With what was coming everyone needed someone to hold the other's hand while they faced what the night had to offer them, conquer it and control it. He sighed as he turned around, he needed to find something else to take his time…..it was going to be along day.
