Cole chuckled to himself after hearing what the Guild lord had to say. The look of shock on the commander's face though was amusing. Even if he refused to this deal, there was no way the commander would be left alive. The fact that he was never privy to such and information despite serving directly under the High Guild lord Teron showed just how much his counsel was valued.
The commander was a loose end, but that was neither here nor there. But still Cole considered what the Guild lord had told him. He was trying to take a break from the politics. Put him in an army and ask him to kill things was straightforward and something that he understood. Chaos should just be Chaos...there was no need for there to be structure to it or a means to an end, Chaos answers to nobody.
"Let's say for sure I am considering helping you destroy a power that rivals your government and is spread across the entirety of your planet. The fact that you are asking means you have something specific in mind, ways that you would want me to put my rather dangerous talents to use?"
"You really don't waste time do you, but I will need you word that you will agree to rendering your services before I offer the information of what it is you would be doing." Cole scoffed and shook his head. As far as Negotiations go, they were off to a good start, but this punk guild lord was tripping if he thought Cole was going to sign over that much power over himself.
"now that's just poor faith in my ability to consider whether your offer is fair or not. There are no lines I wont cross, however there a certain line I make that no one else can cross or make me cross. I'm just hoping this proposal is not one of those lines or we might find ourselves having a different conversation at the end of the day.n.-o//v))E))l)-b)-1/-n
After all you did say my reputation preceded me. So let's try to be as fair as possible to each other, and I will not have to consider finding a way to slit the throat of your children while they sleep." Cole said as he turned to the commander who looked so pale from fright at the way Cole was speaking to his superior.
"Threatening me is not in good faith either Mr Cole. I know what you are capable of, even more so now when at least two thousand of your people are in my city doing whatever the fuck they please and almost always getting away with it. I figure if these demons are as resourceful and dangerous as the word on the streets say, their leader would be the best of the very best and a professional.
I pay you, you get your job done and it does not have to get unpleasant for anyone of us. It/s as simple as that, I wont double cross you, and you dint double cross me. If you need some time to think it through as I am most certainly sure the Adventurers guild and the craftsman guild would reach out to give you offers of their own.
The craftsman guild will prey on your greed and offer you the one thing that would always have value regardless of the universe.... and that is gold. The adventurer's guild will prey on your selfishness and give you benefits that would be advantageous to you and you alone, but it would be enough to make you a very powerful individual. The craftsman guild especially will give you what you want, the secret to the Animechs.
If you want to wait and hear what they can offer, then be my guest. I'm sure it would be the same thing, with slight deviations to cater to the fact that you are the most famous person in the Ultiverse. But what we offer is power, true power. Land, wealth and allies! Word of what you are building has reached our ears, you doing something that no other universe was able to do during their own incursions... build a force that is able to withstand the tide.
You are rattling cages Cole Night, so much cages that even the divine and cosmics are moving in their realms and dimensions. All eyes on the playing field, the system both referee and game maker. And you.....building a force with a race of seeming endless potential....,you are growing, have grown strong to be able to challenge many and none can do a thing to stop it. Like the system is making you strong, going against all established powers to keep out of their hands.
But they are pushing alright. Either way, my King and I are of the opinion to lean on the system's guidance. So this is our offer. Land, military secrets and a joint military alliance between Te Boreas and The Raen Valley to come into full effect as soon the reestablishment of the Monarchy is complete. You will get resources, and a friendship....something that at the moment your territory is sorely lacking in.....and yes.... we will still pay you. We're ready to field a primary sum of 10 Billion Gold, you will be given a 30 man team of carefully selected aspirants and Denizens.
They will serve as your personal strike team, all of them will be bound to you. You can take the six months to train them all, and complete some missions to keep details of our deal a secret. You will also be provided a secure mansion in Te Boreas, and all expenses will be paid for, for as long as you remain here before moving on to the next floor."
"You talk as if I already agreed to any of this?" Cole said to the Guild Lord, a wry smile on his face.
"Do you intend to reject the offer Mr Cole?" the Guild Lord's Hologram asked as Cole shrugged.
"not particularly no. It just that all I wanted were the Animechs. I did not want to cause any trouble I was just going to get it and go...but I cant pass up an opportunity to cause some chaos now can I? very well then what do you need me to do first?" Cole asked as he cracked his neck to the side.....guess crazy scientist persona would have to be on the back burner for now, and the same old crazy multiversal demon bounty hunter would still be here. Only problem is this time the score had gotten so much bigger.
If there was some voice over narration now, you would hear someone talking about how the heavy hearted dashing gun slinging bounty hunter is back for another adventure in what could prove to be his greatest target and score yet. The destruction of an important government body. And act that was sure to cause the dams of chaos to break and cause the streets of Te Boreas to run red with blood.....unless of course the Militia were smarter than Cole gave them credit for.
Either way, this was it, Cole would have to find a way to complete all of these missions while dealing with his messed up head and emotions from the death of his grandparents. At the very least he could be man enough to say and admit that the was not okay. He would go into no further details than that. Either way he would do all that and carry his baggage, no pressure.
"Oh one more thing Mr Cole. You can consider this your first mission.....the commander is a liability, he will stand in the way of the greater good so do me a favor and slit his throat before you leave his tent.....a replacement would be there to take command shortly." and then the holographic head was gone, leaving Cole and a very scared Commander alone in the tent.
"You know not to seem as if I don't care about the fact that your superior just ordered your death, I kind of called this. I saw it coming from a ,mile a way the very moment you gasped and squealed like a little girl when you heard the plans your guild lord had for the city....a test for you and a sales pitch for me.
The only difference is that, I at least completed my transaction, and you?.... well you failed the test woefully. And it was not that you could not be trusted or anything. It's just that you don't have the spine necessary, and at the end of the day without the right stomach for the grisly bits, you are just as he says.....a liability."
"I'm not afraid of you. Monster!" the commander said as he pulled is sword out and prepared for his last stand.
"Good....then you can at least die with some dignity." Cole said to him as he summoned [Black Malakai] and used [Gravity] to lock down the surrounding area.....it was time to do some grisly work.
