Chapter 87

87 Come back to his senses

Without saying a word, Zavian turned and walked to the balcony. Kitana quickly hastened her steps to meet up with him.

The cool breeze of the night fluttered her hair in the air as she came to stand beside him.

Zavian did not say a word to her, he just stared into the distance;

“I finally get to see you, my king,” Kitana spoke tenderly as she stood beside Zavian. She had wanted him forever, but after he set his eyes on Lilah, he barely glanced at her.

But she had hope. He liked her once, she just needed to do the right thing to win his love back.

“What do you want?”

Zavian asked in a stern voice, not even glancing at her. His guards had reported to him that she had come looking for him severally and he decided to listen to what she had to say, for old times’ sake at least.

At his words, Kitana’s voice trembled, “You do not even care to ask me how I have been? Hasn’t it been so long? We’ve not seen each other for over three hundred years and yet you do not want to look at me.”

Kitana spoke as tears gathered in her eyes.

There was silence before Zavian replied; “I gave you audience thinking you had something important to say to me, but it does not seem like the case, I would have to attend to important matters...”

Zavian spoke as he turned to leave but her words stopped him;

“Is it because of that girl? Neera? Is she the reason you don’t want to even look at me? Do you even know what she’s been up to? While you protect her, she’s going about warming another man’s bed.”

Zavian’s steps stopped instantly when he heard Kitana’s words. He stayed still for a few seconds as he processed what she had just said, then he turned slowly to look at her;

“What did you just say?” He questioned, his voice was scary and his eyes terrifying; Kitana gulped as she tried not to be scared, and then she continued;

“Did you think I hated her and punished her for nothing? I did not want to say what lly did in front of everyone. I had caught her kissing Prince Axel in the abandoned chambers just before the king’s court.

She knew what she did, that was why she did not say a thing. Did you think I would be that wicked to just punish her when she did nothing? I saw how you doted on her and felt that she was evil to sleep with another man while you made her stay in your chambers!

Anger boiled through Zavian as he tried to process what he just heard. Raising his eyes to Kitana, he walked to her, and in a second, her back was against the rails and his claws dug into her neck;

“Arghh, Zavian, you’re... hurting me...” Kitana cried as his claws dug deeper;

“If I find out that you’re lying to me, I’ll wring your head off your neck and that would be the end of you.” He spoke through his teeth, his claws digging deeper.

“You can go check for yourself, they are there now. I saw her go in there before I came to you.” Kitana spoke, trying to catch her breath.

Zavian held onto her neck for a few more seconds before he let her go and Kitana slumped to the ground coughing profusely. Her hand went around her neck as she wiped the blood from it.

Her eyes looked up at Zavian whose gaze had grown exceedingly dark and she smiled within her.

There was no way he would forgive her after this.

Zavian stood quietly as though thinking of what to do, then without a single word, he turned and walked out of the balcony.

Kitana dragged herself up from the ground, a smile stretching her lips. She just needed to put doubt into his mind to let him know that she was not her.

She was not Delilah, Delilah desired only him, but this filthy human had climbed the bed of another man.

Kitana laughed to herself before she turned around and walked out of the room.

She followed another route back to her chambers as she did not want to be seen by either of them. When she reached her chambers, she went to the mirror to check her neck, it had healed already, but the marks of his claws were still slightly visible. She rubbed her neck with her fingers as a smile stretched her lips.

Finally, he was going to come to his senses. Now the slave girl was out of the way, all she needed to do was claw her way back to his heart.

Neera knocked on the door lightly as she waited for a response, she wondered what was so important that he asked to see her that night.

Axel opened the door almost immediately and when he saw her, his eyes glistened;

“Neera;” A smile stretched his lips as he moved to the side and let her in.

“I did not think you would come to me so soon.” He spoke as he closed the door, excitement in his eyes.

Neera looked at him puzzled; did he not send someone to tell her that it was important and she needed to come immediately? She thought but did not say a word and walked to the couch and sat down;

”How have you been?” Axel asked and Neera nodded;

”’I’m fine; ” she paused for a second and then she said; “You called for me?”

Axel blinked when he heard her. What was she talking about? he thought, but then he smiled. Maybe she was feeling embarrassed that she had come to see him herself.

Not wanting to make her more embarrassed, he walked to the table and poured wine into two cups, and gave her one.

Neera stared at the cup for a moment before she took it from him and held it on her thighs, as she waited for him to speak. She had only come this night because he had said it was very urgent;

Zavian would be back soon and she did not want to lie to him again. At this rate, he would find out what was going on.
