Chapter 74
Song Anan's mind went blank, and she was stunned for a good while, without even reacting.
The next second, she felt the bed shake up and down, and Pei Kuang's low laughter sounded in her ear, "Felt enough?"
Feel...feel...
Who touched her!
Song Anan's face flushed red immediately. She quickly retracted both hands back and subconsciously took a step back. After a distance was created between them, she hid her hands behind her back.
She explained flusteredly, "I, I didn't touch you, I just wanted to check your wounds."
Pei Kuang let out a meaningful "Oh".
Song Anan: "..."
What does that "Oh" mean? He doesn't believe her?
"Still want to check?" Pei Kuang asked.
Song Anan also came back to her senses, and remembered there were more pressing matters, checking the wound was most important.
But when her eyes fell on Pei Kuang's clothes again, she still felt extremely awkward. His shirt was torn by her, yet he didn't tidy up at all.
However, awkward as it was, Song Anan was still worried, so she had to grit her teeth and went to examine him. After making sure the knife wound was not affected, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Luckily, there's no bleeding. Be careful yourself, it'll be troublesome if the wound reopens."
As she spoke, she helped straighten his bandage, and at the end, she even helped Pei Kuang tidy up his clothes in an attempt to cover his exposed chest.
But his shirt was missing quite a few buttons, so there wasn't much for her to cover anyway. As soon as Song Anan gathered the fabric together and let go, it opened up again.
Yet Pei Kuang sat there casually as if nothing had happened, making Song Anan not know where to rest her eyes.
She pursed her lips, and reproached with little confidence, "If you're fine, you should be sleeping properly. What are you messing around for."
If he hadn't been tossing and turning in the middle of the night, and almost tore his wound, there wouldn't have been so much trouble!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. And she was already angry to begin with, so this was like pouring oil on fire!
He doesn't even cherish his own body. Then she won't care anymore, she'll go back first thing tomorrow morning. Song Anan thought.
Who cares!
Pei Kuang naturally noticed her change of mood. He immediately changed his attitude, lowered his eyes, and said aggrievedly, "I feel unwell."
Song Anan was stunned for a moment, and her expression immediately turned anxious. Her first reaction was to ask where he felt uncomfortable, but she then heard Pei Kuang say in a wronged tone, "You're giving me the cold shoulder, I feel unwell."
Song Anan: "???"
Cold shoulder?!
"I was really happy to see you come today, but you've been ignoring me since you arrived, and I felt awful, so I couldn't sleep. That's why I wanted to get up and sit for a while."
As he said these words, he kept his head lowered the entire time, and his voice was muffled, as if he had suffered a great grievance.
Song Anan had never seen Pei Kuang like this before, and was stunned for a moment.
Having said that, Song Anan left the bathroom without looking back.
Pei Kuang: "..."
He couldn't help but hold his forehead, this made him seem somewhat coy.
However, Song Anan was far from as nonchalant as she sounded. Once out of the bathroom, she quietly let out a breath.
Although she had helped patients to the bathroom at the hospital, she didn't know those patients well, and there was a boundary between doctor and patient, so it wouldn't be awkward.
It was different between her and Pei Kuang. They were very familiar with each other to begin with, so how could this situation not be awkward?
While Song Anan was standing in a daze outside the bathroom, there were two knocks on the ward door. The door was then pushed open and a middle-aged woman walked in.
The two looked at each other, both stunned for a moment.
Song Anan tentatively asked first, "Auntie, who are you looking for?"
Just as the woman was about to speak, the bathroom door opened and Pei Kuang walked out, holding onto the door frame.
"Aunt Wu, why did you come so early?" Pei Kuang sounded a little surprised, "Where's Uncle Li, still busy?"
Aunt Wu, full name Wu Shulan, was Li Cheng's wife.
Wu Shulan smiled and said, "Your Uncle Li is busy interrogating people at the police station. He said he'll come see you after he's done."
Pei Kuang laughed, "No need, tell Uncle Li to focus on his work. I'm fine, I'll be discharged in a few days."
"Oh right, I stewed some soup and brought it over for you. Drink it while it's hot later." Wu Shulan lifted the thermos in her hand.
Pei Kuang laughed, "You are too kind."
Wu Shulan waved her hand, "What are you being so polite with me for, it's just some soup, no big deal."
"By the way, how are your injuries? Your Uncle Li said last night you were hurt, I was scared to death. If it wasn't so late, I would have come to the hospital last night."
Pei Kuang shook his head and replied, "It's nothing, just a minor injury, no big deal."
Seeing Pei Kuang come out, Song Anan hurried to support him, "Take it slow."
Pei Kuang patted her arm with a smile and introduced Wu Shulan to her, "This is Aunt Wu, an elder who takes good care of me."
Song Anan greeted her politely, "Hello Aunt Wu, I'm Song Anan."
Wu Shulan smiled and sized up Song Anan, "You must be Xiao Kuang's girlfriend, such a pretty girl."
Xiao Kuang?
Song Anan reacted for a moment before realizing she was talking about Pei Kuang.
She quickly waved her hands and explained, "Aunt Wu, you misunderstood, we are not what you think, I'm not his girlfriend."
Wu Shulan looked at Song Anan, then at Pei Kuang, and suddenly realized, "I see!"
"You boy, you haven't wooed the girl yet, huh?"
Song Anan: "..."!
