Chapter 42: What Does an Agent Mean

Chapter 42

After finishing breakfast, Shen Shuyao tidied up a little, wearing a pale pink dress that clung slightly to her curvaceous figure.

Her long, fair legs were matched with a pair of white shoes, and she had a white handbag slung over her shoulder. Her hair cascaded over her shoulders, the ends curled into slight waves. Her whole being exuded youthfulness and gentleness.

"Wow, that dress looks so good on you!" Ji Nian was almost mesmerized by the female lead, just look at her outfit, it really made her look like a goddess on campus, both innocent and alluring.

Shen Shuyao was flattered by the praise, and bashfully said, "If you like it, I'll get you the same set and we can wear couple outfits."

Ji Nian was taken aback. To be honest, her clothes were more casual - T-shirts, jeans, loose shirts and skirts. Even her shoes were sneakers and canvas shoes.

Come to think of it, the original owner's clothes were also quite casual. Back when she first arrived, she had sold many of Ji Xiaonian's things, only keeping some clothes. The nice ones were all hung on second-hand apps and sold.

"What a waste of money, buying identical outfits. Haven't you heard the saying, friends share each other's clothes?" Ji Nian winked playfully and said, "If you don't mind, we can swap clothes. As long as they're washed clean, it's fine."

Shen Shuyao was stunned, suddenly remembering that two of her dormmates in college did that too, often borrowing each other's clothes. Back then she didn't think it was proper since clothes are intimate items.

But for some reason, hearing this woman say it now, she unexpectedly felt it was acceptable. She was a little incredulous, was this what good friends felt like?

"Sure, feel free to pick out anything you like to wear," Shen Shuyao said with a smile, suddenly feeling that sharing clothes was something she didn't mind at all.

Ji Nian was surprised, thinking that the female lead was quite open-minded. She had only suggested it casually, not expecting Shen Shuyao to agree so readily. It looked like the female lead had truly accepted her as a confidante.

"Great!" Ji Nian was in quite a good mood, and responded with a beaming smile.

"Oh, I have to go, it seems like the new agent the company arranged has been waiting at the door for a while," Shen Shuyao said upon hearing her phone ring, and hurriedly added after checking her WeChat.

"Let me walk you to the door," Ji Nian followed her out.

It was a standalone villa. Outside was a courtyard, and not far away on the lawn was a pavilion, probably used for afternoon tea. There were flowers in the garden beds too. From the front door to the main gate required walking down a path.

"I'm off to work now. If you get bored by yourself, feel free to go out for a stroll," Shen Shuyao said, hooking her arm around Ji Nian's.

"Don't worry about me, focus on your work and do what you need to do. I'll be at home waiting for you," Ji Nian replied.

"Shuyao, I'm the agent the company assigned to you. My name is He Yi. I look forward to working well together," He Yi formally introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you," Shen Shuyao replied somewhat shyly.

"He Yi is great. She was my agent before too. Rest assured, totally upright," Ji Nian said with a laugh.

Shen Shuyao gave a faint smile and a nod. "If Xiaonian says so, then it must be good."

"Sis, what are you doing here too?" He Yi turned to the woman and asked in puzzlement.

"You're four years younger than me, thank you very much," Ji Nian rolled her eyes, then explained, "I'm good friends with Shuyao and am staying with her for a while."

He Yi nodded. She didn't care about the four year age difference and hurriedly said, "We can catch up later. I still have to bring Shuyao to sign contracts. She's quite popular now. I was handed a bunch of advertisements and scripts as soon as I arrived. We have to hurry to the company now."

"Hurry up then, you should set off," Ji Nian said.

"I'll get going first," Shen Shuyao waved and was promptly pulled into the car by the hurried He Yi.

Ji Nian watched until the car was out of sight before turning back towards the villa feeling a little bored.

The door was open. Walking into the living room, she saw Yun Auntie busy tidying up the table. She went over and asked, "Auntie Yun, need any help?"

Yun Auntie looked up in surprise. It was odd for this woman to ask that. "Miss Ji doesn't need to help. This is my job."

Ji Nian felt a little awkward then. Yun Auntie was hired specifically to clean and cook. This was her work... How could Ji Nian offer to help?

"I see. Okay," she smiled awkwardly and turned to wander through the spacious villa.

Walking from the living room to the sun deck, she discovered that around the corner was another hall. In the center was a black grand piano, with a magnificent crystal chandelier sparkling overhead.

One entire wall was floor-to-ceiling glass, with white gossamer curtains swaying slightly from the gentle breeze coming through the windows.

Outside the glass wall was the garden and lawn, directly facing the pavilion not far away - that must be the afternoon tea spot!

"This decor is amazing!" Ji Nian exclaimed. She hadn't noticed yesterday, and hadn't walked around the courtyard either, only discovering now that there was a hidden paradise here.
