C31 – Ding Mengqi Is a Teacher!?
As the first rays of sunlight kissed the morning of Forest City, an astonishing rumor swept through the Eastern City’s commercial district.
The Chen Family’s father and son of the Chen Group had died suddenly, their company’s stock plummeting, sending shockwaves through the community.
Every merchant knew there was more to the story than a mere sudden death. Something significant had occurred the previous night...
And when word got out that Tong Shan, Chen Peng’s “old friend,” had taken over the Chen Group, the pieces began to fall into place. Eyes turned to the head of the Tong Group, now regarded with a mix of awe and respect.
It was clear that the Chen Family’s untimely demise was linked to Tong Shan.
They also realized that from this day forward, the Tong Family would reign supreme in Forest City’s Eastern District.
Unaware of these developments, Wang Xiao was preoccupied with getting dressed in his military uniform, readying himself for the university’s opening ceremony and the start of military training.
“Xiao, come on, the ceremony is about to start,” urged Soong Ming, with Feng Lee chiming in, as they watched Wang Xiao casually don his uniform, their impatience growing.
“What’s the rush? It’s just a simple ceremony, after all,” Wang Xiao replied nonchalantly as he continued to dress.
“Sure, the ceremony itself isn’t a big deal, but the girls attending it are—especially the sophomore girls who’ll be there this time,” Lin Hua interjected, his eyes gleaming with excitement, barely containing his drool.
Wang Xiao shot Lin Hua a look of contempt, at a loss for words with this resiliently spirited, yet increasingly sleazy, friend.
Just yesterday, Lin Hua’s furious gaze at Yun Yi during their breakup had led Wang Xiao to believe he was a man of steel. Now, it seemed he had taken a turn for the worse.
“Absolutely!” Soong Ming and Feng Lee agreed, nodding enthusiastically.
Finally dressed, Wang Xiao was briskly escorted by his friends to the meeting square at Forest City University for the ceremony.
Upon their arrival, the meeting square was teeming with first-year students clad in green camouflage, buzzing with whispers and creating quite a din.
“Where’s our Traditional Chinese Medicine class among all these people?” Soong Ming couldn’t help but frown and spoke with a hint of concern in his voice.
The square was vast, teeming with nearly ten thousand freshmen. Finding one’s class in such a crowd was no small feat.
“See all those second-year students in charge of maintaining order? You were all in such a rush to get here, now’s the perfect chance to chat them up and find out where our class is,” Wang Xiao suggested, nodding towards the group of attractive second-year girls in student union uniforms, addressing Soong Ming, Feng Lee, and the others.
“Cough, I haven’t figured out what to say yet.”
Feeling Wang Xiao’s eyes on him, Soong Ming gave a slight cough and averted his gaze.
“The true art of flirting isn’t about me approaching her—it’s about standing here and having her come over to me,” Feng Lee boasted with a blush, tilting his head up in a show of faux wisdom.
Keep pretending, that’s all you’re doing!
Wang Xiao rolled his eyes and then glanced at Lin Hua, who was sporting an awkward smile on his plump face. “Bro, you know I just took an emotional hit. You wouldn’t want to see me get rejected and hurt again, would you?” he said meekly.
So, they were all talk and no action—a bunch of shy guys with bold words!
This jerk!
He’s mocking her again!
Unlike Soong Ming and the others, who looked on with adoration, Shi Qiang’s gaze toward Wang Xiao was filled with fury, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.
This student had the audacity to flirt with Ding Mengqi right in front of him. Considering the many male teachers at Forest City University, Shi Qiang, with his family’s wealth and decent looks, had long since claimed Ding Mengqi as his own.
“Hehe, I’m normally very serious. It’s only when I see you that I turn bad. Think you can set me straight?”
Wang Xiao chuckled, touching his nose and giving Ding Mengqi a roguish grin.
Ding Mengqi, fully grasping his double entendre, blushed and retorted with a hint of annoyance, “Wang Xiao, if you don’t stop joking around, I’m going to stop talking to you.”
Lin Hua and the others were practically ready to bow down, their eyes brimming with nothing but awe for Wang Xiao.
Third Brother is incredible!
Just look at his way with words...
So much more sophisticated than the usual “Hello, have you eaten?”!
Taking Ding Mengqi’s hint, Wang Xiao stopped his teasing. He shrugged and said helplessly, “We can’t seem to find the Traditional Chinese Medicine System’s class team. We’re really at a loss here.”
“Traditional Chinese Medicine System?” Ding Mengqi’s face took on a peculiar look. She pointed her delicate finger at Shi Qiang and informed them, “Teacher Shi Qiang is the counselor for your department.”
“Hello, Teacher Shi.”
Soong Ming and the others were taken aback, but they quickly composed themselves and greeted Shi Qiang.
Shi Qiang, caught off guard, quickly masked his initial surprise with a veneer of coldness. He was seething, plotting how to handle Wang Xiao, and now, discovering they were his own students, he saw the perfect opportunity.
Haha, you lot are unlucky to have ended up in my hands!
“Good, all good,” Shi Qiang said, his face breaking into a thin smile as he addressed Soong Ming and the others.
Then, turning to Ding Mengqi, he added, “Since they’re my students, I’ll take them to the Traditional Chinese Medicine System’s class team.”
Wang Xiao had been keeping a close eye on Shi Qiang’s demeanor the whole time. Earlier, when he was ribbing Ding Mengqi, Shi Qiang’s face had darkened like the bottom of a burnt pan. So why was he now suddenly beaming with smiles?
“Alright, I’ll leave them in your hands.”
Ding Mengqi didn’t elaborate further. She simply nodded, bid Wang Xiao farewell, and departed to attend to her own students.
Once Ding Mengqi was out of sight, Shi Qiang turned to face Wang Xiao and the rest, his gaze harboring a glint of iciness. His voice was laced with disdain as he spoke, “Follow me. You’re all university students, yet you can’t even find your own team. You’re worse than elementary school kids!”
