Ling Yue felt her hand squeezed. Her eyes narrowed at Xi Jian's face. Her brain needed time to digest what Xi jian had just said.

'No way! is that what I think it is?'

It was really difficult to read this man's facial expressions whether he was serious or not. The sound that comes out from him too low. Ling Yue could barely catch all of his words. Xi Jian tugged her hand and led her to sit in the chair.

"You know...me...I..."

"You can talk whatever you want to talk next time."

Ling Yue couldn't bear to see him struggling just to talk. He really winced in pain every time he open his mouth. After Ling Yue said that, Xi Jian remained silent, but he did not let go of his grip. He kept staring back and forth at Ling Yue's face and their intertwined hands.

The longer they remained silent the more reddened Ling Yue's face was. When first seeing Xi Jian in this condition, she truly felt guilty and sorry but she could barely contain her laughter. Xi Jian was seen dumbfounded against her action.

"You ... Pftt! Sorry! Sorry ... I know it hurts. But you keep glancing until your face looks funny ahahaha..."

Behind the red-blue Xi Jian's face, only a tiny bit parts of his eyes were white, which covered by bulging swollen eyelids. It continues to move up and down between the rigid parts his swollen face and other bruises. That part really stood out like a bouncing small ball.

Ling Yue heard him grumble in really low voice. Much or less like 'Who's fault do you think...'

"Okay, I'm sorry."

This time Ling Yue tried to hide her grin and pulled Xi Jian to his feet.

"Let's eat first. You must be hungry. Eat and take your medicine so your bruises get better soon."

Xi Jian waited obediently at the dining table. Ling Yue made him a crab soup after asking Bai Xu his favorite soup. With such conditions, he did not have many food choices to chew. Xi Jian grabbed back Ling Yue's hand as soon as she sat next to him. He sipped his soup without speaking. Ling Yue felt the warm grasp of Xi Jian's hand stretching to her face.

"I want to ask you something, can you answer it? Just nod or shake your head." After another silence struck, Ling Yue put down her spoon.

Xi Jian almost finished the contents of his bowl, looked up and nodded as if hinting 'go ahead'

"Do...you and Ling Feng have a promise I don't know about?"

Xi Jian stopped eating. He looked at Ling Yue then nodded.

"Is that really important?"

Xi Jian kept nodding.

"I see..."

Ling Yue was too shocked at that time to break them up so she didn't listen to what her brother said. But after thinking all night, she slowly began to remember Ling Feng's words. Xi Jian broke his promise to Ling Feng. She thought of the next question, but what she wanted to know could not be answered with just a nod and a shake head. "Later ... can you tell me what that is?"

Xi Jian nodded again. Ling Yue smiled.

"Alright, finish your meal. I'll smear your face after this." Ling Yue took care of their cutlery with Xi Jian still attached to her side. She tried to push him out but Xi Jian refused and suddenly he just walked out of the kitchen to his study room. Ling Yue was waiting for him in the TV room while taking out the medicine that Bai Xu had left there.

Almost twenty minute passed and Xi Jian did not return. Ling Yue stood up and intended to call him. Just then, Xi Jian came down carrying a stack of papers.

"You took so long—"

Xi Jian stopped a few steps from Ling Yue. He raised the stack of paper he was carrying over his chest facing Ling Yue. The first word grabbed her eye was:

[I Love You]

Ling Yue looked at the black writing and Xi Jian again and again. Xi Jian then pulled that sheet and placed it behind the others. Another paper entered her view. This time he pulled it one by one and each with writing :

[Will You]

[spend]

[the rest]

[of Ur life]

[with me?]

then the writing paper changes again.

[You love me 2, right?]

There were still many words that he wrote. This was indeed absurd. He, wearing house clothes and a bruised face, proposed to the most important person in his life like a schoolboy who just knows about love. Well, maybe kids now give priority to appearance first before expressing their love.

But he couldn't wait until his speech is smooth or until his appearance back as usual again. After Ling Yue suddenly appeared in front of him, Xi Jian felt that for a second he let Ling Yue walk out from here, he was afraid that she would run away from him. His feelings overflowed. He wanted Ling Yue to know as soon as possible.

'This frustrates me!'

Xi Jian shouted silently. He threw the rest of the paper in his hand onto the sofa and walked towards Ling Yue nervously. The woman just stared wide-eyed at him.

'Why doesn't she say anything?'

He grasped Ling Yue's hands.

"I ... love ... you" he said with difficulty.

"You ... are you proposing to me?" Ling Yue saw Xi Jian's head nod with certainty.

That man ... he didn't kneel on his knee with a diamond ring. There were no flowers or candles around. No applause or confetti shot above her head. But Ling Yue's feelings welled up. Her breath caught. Tears gathered in her eyelids.

"You love me..."

Ling Yue felt incredible relief. As if a heavy burden that had haunted her was thrown away. Xi Jian cupped Ling Yue's face and stroked it lovingly. Still muttered how he love her very much.

Ling Yue slammed her body into Xi Jian's chest and hugged him tightly. Her voice trembled. "Thank goodness, you love me!"

Xi Jian returned her hug tighter. 'This wound is nothing if I can have you.' Xi Jian breathed in Ling Yue's soothing scent.

'My love ... My life ...'
