Chapter 78: Spike's First Battle!
"Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark!"
"Hmm?!" Gudako was startled by the sudden barking coming from her right, completely taken aback by the sound of the dog's cry.
In response, Gudako grabbed Mashu by the neck and leaped up, while Mashu effortlessly held Gudako in a princess carry.
Mashu looked at Gudako, who was huddled in her arms, clearly frightened. A blush appeared on Mashu's face, but she quickly snapped out of that awkward state. This was a time for business, not for indulging in such thoughts.
Suppressing the undesirable thoughts that had just crossed her mind, Mashu spoke up, "Um... Senpai, are you alright?"
However, Gudako, still caught in a state of "shock," was obviously unable to respond to Mashu.
"Pfftgiggle.." Merlin, who was stuck in the snug hollow between Gudako's and L Bu's arms, forgot for a moment that he was a backup projectile and burst into laughter upon seeing Gudako scared by the barking.
But soon, Merlin suddenly realized that if Gudako were to discover him in this state, he might go from being "Merlin Onii-chan" to "Merlin-chan."
So, Merlin quickly covered his mouth with both hands.
Returning to Gudako's perspective, after about three seconds of forced panic, Gudako immediately regained her composure. She turned her head to the direction where the barking came from and saw a dog's head on a half-height white wooden door.
At that moment, Gudako finally breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "What the... It's just a dog..."
But... just as she thought that, Gudako realized that something wasn't quite right. How could she, as the Chaotic Evil herself, be frightened by a dog? Was that even possible? How could this be?!
Having gone through so many Singularities and faced countless monsters attacking her out of nowhere, she had never lost her composure. When faced with such a situation, she would instead think with a surprised look on her face, "What material will this monster drop? Walnuts, perhaps?"
However, it was this very same Gudako who had her defenses shattered by the barking of a dog standing at least ten meters away.
Furthermore, was she the only one in the entire Chaldea team who was scared?
With these thoughts in mind, Gudako's face turned pale. She felt that her reputation had suffered a blow. Without saying a word, she jumped out of Mashu's embrace.
Facing Spike, she shouted, "What are you barking at?!"
Hearing Mashu's seemingly 'out of the blue' question, Gudako was a bit puzzled and said, "I'm fine, nothing's wrong. What's up?"
"If you're fine, then let's continue on our way. Mr. Kongming should be around here... Wait a minute, senpai, something's off about that dog!" Mid-sentence, Mashu suddenly noticed Spike, who had been resting his head and front paws on the door, seemed to have a problem.
If you're wondering why, it can only be said... the dog that was just resting on the door had now stood up.
Moreover, the two front limbs didn't give the feeling of a normal dog briefly standing up, with the hindquarters suspended in front. Instead, it was just like a human. Two muscular arms were located on either side of the body, arms that only humans would possess.
Mashu had only seen this unusual appearance on the 'Schrdinger's Cat.'
And now, she saw an extraordinary animal once again. It was evident that this dog, just like the 'Schrdinger's Cat,' was an animal-class Servant!
"Servant! Senpai, this dog isn't an ordinary dog. It's a Servant!"
While speaking, Mashu had already raised her shield, positioning herself in front of Gudako, prepared to face the potential attack from the large dog at any moment.
L Bu, too, casually tossed Merlin aside, wielding the Sky Piercing Halberd, guarding Mashu and Gudako's side. At a single command, he would swing the Sky Piercing Halberd in his hand to take the dog's life!
In front of the door, Spike confirmed his earlier assumption upon seeing this defensive stance.
Sure enough... these humans were provoking him, the guard dog!
Spike clenched his left wrist with his right hand, using force to roll up the fur on his left hand as if it were a sleeve, revealing his crimson muscular arm.
And then, Spike showcased the anchor tattoo on the outer side of his left forearm to everyone present.
"Indeed, this feeling is exactly the same as the 'Schrdinger's Cat!'" The mere thought that this could be an enemy as strong, or even stronger, than that cat made Mashu's heart tighten.
"Boom!" A loud noise resounded as Spike kicked open the gate of the Bai Song residence, shattering it into pieces as it flew outward.
With this action from Spike, the battle... was about to begin!
After kicking open the door, Spike immediately returned to a four-legged stance and charged fiercely towards Gudako and the others, simultaneously opening his bloodthirsty jaws.
