22 The battle

Jay calmed himself down as he looked at the town before him. He was planning to provide support as a magician instead of going in as a swordsman. He might be stronger in melee as of now but that didn't mean it was the most suited for this fight.

He had to make sure his casualties were as low as possible and in the end, when the enemies were on their last legs, he would swoop in and let the 'Overbearing II' specialty on his scimitar do its work.

A few more minutes passed before everyone was in place, it was then he raised his scimitar

"ATTACK!!!!"

Immediately after this a warcry followed by the people below him, all of them rushing towards the Eastern gate of the settlement.

The ground seemed to shake as 2 Giants came into view. Each of them holding a large ball of ice they ripped off a mountain.

The Iceborne within the settlement immediately panicked and headed towards the living quarters.

Both of the Giants had a person sitting on a chair mounted on their steady shoulders giving them commands. This was done due to the low intelligence of the giants. These people made sure the Giants wouldn't trample their own troops and would do the most damage possible.

Soon 2 large balls of ice were thrown, one of them crashing right into the Eastern living quarters, killing multiple and breaking the wall entirely. The other Giant missed the living quarters by a hair's breadth, yet still killing a few people who were heading there.

The town was in absolute chaos, they saw 2 massive giants heading for the gate and heard a battle cry coming from what seemed like hundreds of warriors.

The western part was also full of people busily running around, giving orders and organizing themselves for the defense. They planned to head onto the walls and rain spears onto their enemies. But they were simply way too late. By the time they got into squads, the giants had reached the gate, and then they destroyed the wall in just a few minutes, clearing the rubble in a few more.

At this point, the Giants backed off, letting the soldiers enter. The soldiers had gotten an order to kill every bear with brightly colored Iceborne, other than this the elderly also had to be killed.

| Area alert: First city has attacked Gualthern |

| Mission: Defeat Gualthern |

The first notification he saw surprised him slightly. So it seemed like whenever an intelligent species attacks another intelligent species everyone in the area would be alerted.

This meant that any guardposts outside of the city would head here. Yet recalling the previous guards they encountered it seemed that it would take them at least take 30 minutes to get here.

At this point, the soldiers had spread out into a few squads of 10 taking out anyone they see. It was at this point the Iceborne soldiers entered the fray. However, there was only 1 point of entry, making them easily stalled.

The Iceborne weren't dumb and used formations to try and push through the entry point. Yet just as the first group started getting a foothold, making a way for the rest of the soldiers to go through, a massive block of ice was thrown against the entry point, blocking it entirely.

It would seem that one of the Giants had managed to get himself another piece of ice and so this situation had occurred. The isolated group of Iceborne obviously didn't stand a chance and got killed after a period of combat.

A dozen minutes had already passed when the soldiers had killed all citizens other than the regularly colored pups.

After engaging for this amount of time the Iceborne felt helpless. Their soldiers had attempted to go through the western gate in order to circle around the city but as every time they tried to go through an ice-spear was shot through one of them they had tried to push through to the eastern side instead.

When that passageway was blocked it was already too late as one of the Giants had made his way to the western gate.

After a bit more time passed, a group appeared not far away. It was a group of 30 of the blue-furs Jay had fought earlier and it seemed like Jay had underestimated their speed, with them arriving only 15 minutes after the alert.

Jay was at a bit of a crossroads here. There blue-furs were the soldiers he wanted the most. They could spend long amounts of time underwater and had good skills. With a bit of decent training, they could easily become tier one experts.

Yet, on the other hand, taking them out alive would be extremely hard to do as all of his techniques were made to kill.

In the end, he found a solution. He and General Green rushed towards the west side of town, ordering the giant to get another block of ice.

Himself and General Green rushed through the gate immensely surprising the enemies inside.

Before they had mentally prepared multiple heads already dropped to the ground. He continued attacking while yelling the chant "Surrender or die!" a chant quickly picked up by the troops on the east side as they rounded up the survivors.

As the Giant just outside threw another massive ball of ice into their barracks, the troops gave up, surrendering by the heaps. Just before the blue-furs arrived a notification came up.
