Little liar (2)
Lu Nan didn’t look away.
Lin Yuhe touched the tip of his nose, and his smile was not completely concealed. “I just remembered that my roommate said that he didn’t expect parents to come to deliver meals at the university, and then heard what Gege said, and felt… really kind of like a parent.”
This was just his personal opinion, and he found it difficult to explain it, so he didn’t say it out loud. Now, he doesn’t know if it’s offensive if he said it.
But Lu Nan heard it, and immediately responded, “Parents ordered you to eat more.”
Lin Yuhe nodded obediently. “I eat a lot these days.”
The man raised his hand and squeezed his chin lightly.
“Little liar.”
He endured it for a long time, but still couldn’t help stretching out his hand.
“The chin is so thin that it hurts the hand.”
It was hard to gain some weight.
Before Lin Yuhe even started eating, he lost weight again.
The end of the semester was really grueling. Although Lin Yuhe kept saying that he was fine, his face was always pale, and he even became more and more haggard day by day.
Lu Nan couldn’t help much and could only provide support in material aspects such as meals. But even so, the days were quite difficult, and it was finally the penultimate day of the exam week.
After returning at night, Lin Yuhe finally breathed a sigh of relief. There was only one last subject left tomorrow, and he would be free after the exam.
It was nearly eleven o’clock when he got home after his self-study.
He was really tired, and Lu Nan didn’t let Lin Yuhe read any more, and urged him to go to bed.
However, after Lin Yuhe came out of bath, he didn’t go to bed directly, but instead went to get a box of milk.
Lu Nan poured a glass of warm water, and waited for the other person to finish drinking the milk, rinse his mouth, and off to bed. However, when he returned with the glass of water, he saw Lin Yuhe sitting on the edge of the bed rubbing his forehead.
He even unconsciously crushed a corner of the milk carton in his hand.
“What’s wrong?” Lu Nan asked, “Uncomfortable?”
Hearing the sound, Lin Yuhe raised his head. His face was pale, and there was no blood on his lips. Although he had just applied lip balm, he didn’t look much better, and was still very dry.
But then, he still said, “It’s okay, I’m a little tired, just take a rest.”
As he spoke, he took another sip of milk, as if he wanted to drink it as soon as possible and go to bed early.
It’s just that his swallowing speed was very slow, as if it was a bit difficult.
Lu Nan frowned, and glanced at the milk box. He remembered asking Lin Yuhe a few days ago if he would be cold when he slept alone. Lin Yuhe said yes, but he fell asleep after drinking the milk. At that time, he didn’t feel anything. Looking at it now, it seems that the boy really used milk to help him sleep.
Lu Nan asked, “Drinking milk could help you fall asleep faster?”
Lin Yuhe was still swallowing slowly, biting the straw, and nodding. “Yes.”
Lu Nan pursed his thin lips slightly, but seeing the other person’s expression, he did not enjoy drinking the milk.
He asked, “You don’t like milk?”
Lin Yuhe didn’t deny it. “I don’t like the taste very much.”
Lu Nan frowned. “Don’t drink if you don’t like it.”
Lin Yuhe replied, “It’s okay, I’ll finish drinking soon.”
Sure enough, he drank the milk in two or three gulps, threw the box away, rinsed his mouth, and lay down directly.
It seems very reassuring.
But Lu Nan could never forget the expression on Lin Yuhe’s face when he was drinking milk – he was not drinking milk, it was clearly like drinking medicine.
Still the bitterest kind of medicinal soup.
Lu Nan always felt that Lin Yuhe’s reaction to milk was not quite right.
And when reaching out to help someone tuck the quilt, his hand inadvertently touched the side of the other person’s face, and he was unconsciously rubbed against the back of his hand.
This was not like what Lin Yuhe would do when he was awake.
Lu Nan recalled the night when he just came back, that day Lin Yuhe also drank milk, when he heard the voice in his earphones, he couldn’t help kissing each other—his movements were not so gentle at that time, but there was no response.
After thinking for a while, Lu Nan finally walked out of the bedroom and made a call.
The phone was quickly answered. “Mr. Lu, what’s the matter?”
“Doctor Zhou,” Lu Nan asked, “Do you know the reason for dizziness and headache after drinking milk?”
“Milk?” Dr. Zhou thought for a moment and asked, “Are there any other symptoms, such as allergies, diarrhea, etc.?”
“No.”
Lu Nan did not find any of the symptoms on Lin Yuhe.
“He doesn’t like the taste of milk.”
Eh?
Dr. Zhou was stunned. Director Lu specially called at such a late hour, but it was for someone else?
But think about it, Director Lu doesn’t seem like a person who would drink milk.
Filled with doubts, Dr. Zhou still gave a serious replied, “It should be lactose intolerance.”
Lu Nan was silent for a moment, and said, “But he didn’t have it when he was young.”
Although he didn’t like it when he was a child, and always had to be coaxed by the taller man before he reluctantly agreed to drink a little, Lin Yuhe didn’t feel uncomfortable after drinking it.
That’s why Lu Nan didn’t know about it, and made him drink milk for so long.
“Lactose intolerance does not necessarily have to be present in childhood,” Dr. Zhou explained. “Many people develop it suddenly after they grow up. This is a very normal phenomenon.”
He also said, “Lactose intolerance is actually quite common. The symptoms should not be too serious. If Mr. Lu is worried, you can go to the hospital for an examination.”
Lu Nan frowned and asked, “If the doctor himself has this symptom, can he feel it?”
“Yes,” Dr. Zhou said with certainty, “It’s not a serious problem. People with a little medical knowledge, or those who have suffered from frequent illnesses, can actually detect it by themselves.”
…People who get sick more often.
Lu Nan frowned even tighter.
Then why didn’t Lin Yuhe find out?
After hanging up the phone, Lu Nan returned to the bedroom. The headlights in the room had been turned off, leaving only a night light beside the bed.
He walked slowly toward the bed and looked at the sleeping person on the bed through the light.
Although he didn’t want to admit it, Lu Nan knew very well that with Lin Yuhe’s professional knowledge, it was unlikely that he didn’t know his symptoms.
Just like when his lips were dry and cracked before, Lin Yuhe also knew that he might get cheilitis. But he still didn’t do anything about it.
Lin Yuhe’s reaction did not seem to be ignorant.
It’s more like he doesn’t care.
Lu Nan closed his eyes.
In fact, he should have realized that earlier.
Lu Nan had been supervising the other’s application of lip balm before. With his memorizing skill, it was impossible for Lin Yuhe not to remember it. However, every time the boy applied the medicine, it seemed that he did it more to reassure Lu Nan rather than to make himself felt better.
Lin Yuhe was a medical student with a patient and careful personality. He can clearly take care of others so considerately, but he always tosses himself again and again.
The warm yellow light softly enveloped the sleeping man, Lu Nan looked at his sleeping face silently.
Obviously, such an obedient child.
Why are you always worrying?
