TL Note: Two sponsored chapters coming today along with the normal chapter. Enjoy!
Note from the Author: Back to Lewin’s POV.
When I opened my eyes, Ahmed was peering at me intently with her face really close, causing me to jump up in fright. Seeing this, Ahmed started laughing in delight. This…was an inn? From the window, I could see the townscape of Grezesta spanning the view.
“Oh, you’re finally awake? Kukuku, that was a great reaction just now, Lewin!” (Ahmed)
“Well, you seemed really tired, so it couldn’t be helped. I’ll have you pay this debt back later, so don’t worry about it! Lewin, were you injured anywhere?” (Ahmed)
“I’m really sorry… Injuries? Yes, I burned my hand, but there wasn’t much else aside from that. Ah! Your leg!” (Lewin)
“Leg? Ah, these? When did I get these? Don’t mind me, it’s great that you were able to return without any injuries!” (Ahmed)
Ahmed’s legs were laced with innumerable small cuts and slashes, and a few slightly deeper ones could be seen here and there. One of the wounds looked so bad that even looking at it made me wince. Judging by the newness of it, this wound… appeared to be one inflicted when she was searching for me. I felt really sorry about everything that happened.
“No, wait a second! Um… if you’d like, please take this and use it!” (Lewin)
“–Well anyway, to summarize what happened in this incident… I was pretty careless this time around with the quest commission since everyone in the [Azure Alliance] was so kind. I probably could have prevented this situation if I was a little more careful in examining and selecting the adventurer party. I ended up causing trouble for Ahmed-san, so I’m really regretful about that.” (Lewin)
“Well, it might’ve been true that you could’ve avoided this blunder by being more careful about party selection. But… I think this time, you did nothing wrong, Lewin. The ones who were at fault were [White Feiler].” (Ahmed)
“No, well, there were also some irregular circumstances.” (Lewin)
“Even if there were irregular circumstances, as the ones who were tasked with escorting, they should never have used you as a decoy and ran away in the first place. Lewin, I think that being able to suppress your feelings is a good thing. But if someone does something wrong to you, then you need to give your all to protest and speak up against it! Well… I don’t hate that part about you, though.” (Ahmed)
“…That’s true. I think it’d be nice to be more like Ahmed-san in that regard.” (Lewin)
“That’s right, follow my example to your heart’s content. Well, for now, we’ll deal with the matter regarding [White Feiler], so don’t worry. We’ll clean it up before we leave Grezesta.” (Ahmed)
“Thank you so much for everything. Really… Ahmed-san is my benefactor!” (Lewin)
“Haha, then just go ahead and be thankful for the rest of your life. Well, I’m off. Be sure to go report to the Adventurer’s Guild!” (Ahmed)
“Yes! One of these days, I’ll come find you to express my thanks once again and hang out.” (Lewin)
I raised a hand to see Ahmed off. It was an undeniable fact that Ahmed saved my life. No matter what happened, I would never forget this favor.
