Episode 133 – Potion Offensive

The Poison Potion soared through the air in a straight line towards the purple Troll, and it lightly swung its greatsword at it without regard, smashing the potion bottle midair. The contents of the potion bottle splashed over the purple Troll—but it didn’t seem to be in pain.

When I saw that the Poison Potion had no effect, I felt a wave of hopelessness wash over me, but… when I looked closely, I noticed that the purple Troll’s skin was repeatedly melting and regenerating. So it wasn’t that it wasn’t working, it was just that the speed of its super-regeneration was keeping up with it. If that was the case, then both [Anti-Heal] and this potion were still effective to some extent.

“Nina! I need you to keep blasting this Troll with [Anti-Heal]!” (Lewin)

“Eh?! [Anti-Heal]? But…” (Nina)

“Tch! Not this bottle stuff again…! I dunno what the hell this liquid is, but it ain’t gonna work on me!” (Purple Troll)

It didn’t try to avoid it at all, but the look of joy vanished from its face, and it seemed to be slightly irritated. It might’ve just been my wishful thinking, but I felt like the fact that the purple Troll getting annoyed was probably subconscious evidence that the damage was starting to accumulate. The Troll itself might not really feel anything, but its body was steadily taking damage. I contemplated to myself whether this hardly noticeable irritable response was something that I was even capable of picking up on.

“I’m done playin’. All this buzzin’ n’ tinglin’ is pissing me off!” the purple Troll spat furiously in a fit of rage after eating the bottle of poisoned Slime liquid and the 6th blast of [Anti-Heal] head on.

‘Done playing’? It was clear that those words were not a bluff, as the aura surrounding the purple Troll transformed completely. But perhaps… this was the chance to turn the tables.

Taking another potion out of my holder, I hurled it at the purple Troll. This potion was a Paralysis Potion, brewed from a large quantity of Curare Leaves. I was worried that it would start catching on to what I was trying to do, but it just smashed the potion bottle in a rage, exactly like it did earlier with the Poison Potion. The contents of the Paralysis Potion doused the purple Troll’s body.

“……..?” (Purple Troll)

The purple Troll, drenched in Paralysis Potion, tried to come towards us, but it suddenly as it felt something amiss. It stopped in its tracks and peered down curiously at the greatsword in its hand. I wasn’t sure if my potion offensive was working or not, but I took the opportunity to take out one more potion from my holder.

This time, the one I took out wasn’t one to be used directly on enemies. It was a high class potion meant for my own personal use. It was none other than a Strength Potion, brewed from an abundance of Dumbbell Weed.

The moment I popped open the lid of the flask, a revolting odor hit my nose, causing my face to wrinkle in disgust. This Strength Potion was technically a failure, since even the grandma’s special potion brewing method was unable to eliminate the bitterness. But since it contained a plenitude of Dumbbell Weed, the effect should still be tremendous. Bracing myself for the assault of the acrid bitterness, I downed the potion in one go.

I tilted the bottle back, trying my best to pour the liquid directly into my stomach without tasting any of it, but the bitter taste made the contents of my stomach well up. But… there was no way I was going to throw it back up. I forcefully suppressed the reflex to vomit, swallowing the Strength Potion back down with all my might. Immediately, a change took place in my body.

The effect was several times greater than the feeling I got when buffed by Porta’s [Bravery]. I could feel so much power coursing through my body that it was difficult to believe that this was the same body that was completely exhausted to the point of cramping just a moment ago.

To test my power, I gave my steel sword a light swing, but to my surprise, a loud whooshing sound echoed out around me.

…With this, I might be able to do it.

With this overflowing strength bestowed to me by the Strength Potion, I felt like I could do something against this purple Troll which was now standing motionless after receiving the barrage of potions and [Anti-Heal].

This was probably my first and last chance to defeat this purple Troll. I couldn’t afford to let this chance pass by. If I could defeat this purple Troll before the effects of the Strength Potion wore off, I’d win. On the other hand… if the purple Troll, which had now stopped playing around, could defend against my onslaught, then the purple Troll would win.

The final exchange of blows to decide the winner of this long and drawn out battle had begun.
