Episode 210 – Selling Method
“This is… Magical Grass?” (Aruna)
“Nope. They do look similar, but isn’t that a weed?” (Rosalie)
“…So difficult.” (Aruna)
When I drew closer, I overheard some of their conversation, and it seemed that they were still struggling to distinguish between plants. Magical Grass and Medical Herb were relatively easy to distinguish apart, but there definitely were some weeds that kind of resembled them. While listening to their conversation, I recalled that terribly bitter time when I first started working at the Healer’s Guild, before eventually telling them I was done with gathering.
“We’re also done gathering on our side, but how was it over there?” (Rosalie)
“Yeah. We managed to collect a bit…EH?! What the heck is with that amount?” (Aruna)
“Before I came to Landaust, I used to make a living by gathering plants, so it’s one of my few strong points.” (Lewin)
“No, even if you say it’s a strong point, this is a bit… Gathering this many plants in such a short time should be impossible, shouldn’t it…?” (Rosalie)
“Well, I did gather this many, so I wouldn’t really say it’s impossible…” (Lewin)
“It’s not that I’m doubting you or anything, but would it be alright if I could take a look at them?” (Rosalie)
“Of course. The Magical Grass and Medical Herbs are tied up on the left side, so please go ahead and take a look.” (Lewin)
I showed the plants to Rosalie, who seemed to think that I had collected them randomly, since the speed of collection was beyond all common sense to her. It was the same with the [Azure Alliance] and [Iron Gear], and I started to wonder if this is how people would always react upon seeing it for the first time.
“……Amazing. This really is all Medical Herb and Magical Grass… Could it be that you’re actually a great person, Jade-san?” (Rosalie)
“No, I was fired from the Healer’s Guild so I’m not a great person at all. Anyway, I think we can make a lot of money from this. However, as I said before, I’m going to leave some for support as well, so until the day after tomorrow, would it be alright for me to focus on gathering plants?” (Lewin)
“Yeah. I have no complaints if you can gather this many.” (Aruna)
“Then can I ask you two to split up these plants and carry them?” (Lewin)
Because of the large number of plants, our luggage had significantly increased compared to when we first headed into the Dungeon, but we managed to return safely by dividing it among the three of us. It would be kind of nice to have a baggage porter, even if it was just for when we did plant-gathering… But I guess that would go against my promise with Ahmed.
“Thanks for your hard work. I’ll take care of the plants we collected, and I think that I should be able to give each of you the proportionate amount from selling them by tomorrow. However, please keep in mind that I’m considering making them into potions before selling them, so I might not be able to hand all of it over tomorrow,” I told the other two as I took all of the plants into my custody.
I knew this from the plants I had sold yesterday, but the purchase price was fixed for each type of plant. In my opinion, it would be better to sell them in their refined forms, as potions. It would take more work and a few extra days to sell, but it wasn’t that bad since I would be able to get back a corresponding amount of money for it.
“Eh?! You can brew potions, Lewin-san? I thought it was only for the slime bottles.” (Rosalie)
“Well, I can brew them, more or less. I can only make simple ones, and the ones I have on me right now are basically only ones that I prepared myself.” (Lewin)
“I knew Aruna was a great person, but to think that you were just as amazing, Lewin-san…” (Rosalie)
“Hm… The more I know, the less I understand. Weird.” (Aruna)
It’s nice to be complimented, but Aruna is the last person I want to be called weird by, since she was the real weirdo here.
It was true that it took me a long time to learn how to make potions, and it had been such a struggle that I didn’t think I would have been able to learn if it weren’t for the grandma from Elf’s Tears, so I didn’t think it was too weird.
“Anyway, I would be happy to entrust the matter of selling the plants entirely to you.” (Rosalie)
“Yeah. It was originally Lewin’s idea, so I was planning to leave it to him. Besides, the majority of what we gathered was from Lewin too.” (Aruna)
First, I would have to return to Ponpokotei and sort the plants by level. And as soon as the sorting was done, I’d have to go check on the brewing stand that was supposed to be delivered today.
I wasn’t sure if I could use the old style brewing stand properly, but, more than that, I was excited about the fact that it was my very own brewing table. Considering the plants I had, I could already think of several potions that I wanted to try making.
I was feeling pretty tired after clearing the Dungeon, but the excitement wiped away my fatigue as I lightly skipped my way back to Ponpokotei.
