Episode 233 – Shopping With the Party Members
After finishing the same morning routine as yesterday’s, I left for our meeting point on Main Street by the fountain in the square. I had arrived a lot earlier than the scheduled meetup time, and it seemed that I was the first to arrive.
The fountain appeared to be a popular meetup spot, as there were lots of people coming and going in turns. I was also among them, waiting patiently for the two to arrive. Even though I had become pretty famous, among all of these people who were wearing similar gear and clothing, no one recognized me. As I waited for the two, nobody approached me to talk in the end.
The first person to arrive in front of the fountain was Rosalie. After I waved at her, Rosalie came towards me.
“G-Good morning. Did you w-wait long?” (Rosalie)
“Good morning, Rosalie-san. Not at all, it didn’t wait long at all. Aruna hasn’t come yet either.” (Lewin)
“I s-see. That’s good.” (Rosalie)
As Rosalie greeted me apologetically, I looked at her from head to toe. It was only natural that instead of the tight-fitting leather armor that she usually wore, she was dressed in a pale red knit shirt and a navy-colored flared skirt. Paired with her chic brown loafers, it gave her a soft and fluffy look overall. Even I, who knew nothing about fashion, could tell how stylish her look was.
Since she was always wearing her adventurer’s outfit, it was really nice to see this side of her. But probably because I was staring at her without saying anything, Rosalie started to become visibly flustered, so I hurriedly brought up another topic.
“Sorry to make you come out on your day off. You’re not getting paid for today, so you’re practically working for free…” (Lewin)
“No, it’s a-alright. I came of my own accord. Besides, I was l-looking forward to going shopping with you and Aruna-san.” (Rosalie)
“Really? I was also looking forward to going shopping with you, so I’m happy to hear you say that!” (Lewin)
Rosalie seemed to become less nervous after that, and we began to chat about various things as we waited for Aruna. I told her about the events that had happened before I had arrived at Landaust. We also talked about the Dungeon, of course, and she talked about being an Adventurer’s Guild staff member. A few minutes after our scheduled meeting time, Aruna showed up.
“Sorry, I overslept.” (Aruna)
“It’s totally fine. Rosalie and I were just talking.” (Lewin)
Aruna, who had arrived late, was wearing a dark brown cardigan and green tight-fitting pants. Her outfit really highlighted her figure, giving her a gorgeous aura that made her seem difficult to approach.
Compared to the two of them, my clothes seemed unfashionable and worn out, and I started to feel embarrassed. I didn’t really think about it when I went shopping with Lyra and Nina, but I really should have bought some clothes at that store that Dion had recommended.
“Where are we going first?” (Aruna)
“Let’s see… shall we start from the general store? Let’s start with the small items and work our way up to the bigger items.”
“If we start with the big items, It might b-become troublesome to have to keep carrying them around, so I agree.” (Rosalie)
“Mm. Then we’ll go to the general store. But I also want to go to a weapons store eventually.” (Aruna)
“Yeah. We have time, so we’ll stop by all kinds of shops. Outside of having anything to do with the Dungeon, I want to know what kind of shops you two would recommend.” (Lewin)
“That sounds g-good! I also want to know what s-shops you two like to go to.” (Rosalie)
After we decided on our first stop, Rosalie led the way to the general store. I thought for sure that it would be a general store on Main Street, but we ended up stopping in front of an old-looking shop a little ways off from Main Street.
“It’s not on Main Street, huh?” (Lewin)
“That’s what I was thinking too.” (Aruna)
“The a-assortment of goods they have there is good, but the quality and price at this shop are better.” (Rosalie)
“Wow. I didn’t even know there was a general store here.” (Lewin)
As I walked in after Rosalie, who had headed in first, the sound of the bell attached to the door rang out, reminding me of Elf’s Tears. In response to the sound, a kind-looking old man peeked out from the back of the store.
“Oya? Rosalie? It’s rare for you to bring friends with you.”
“Good morning, Nody-san. Today, I’ve brought along my Dungeon-clearing companions.” (Rosalie)
“I see, I see. Take all the time you need to browse the wares.” (Nody)
“They have simple tableware and cooking utensils here too, huh?” (Lewin)
“Y-Yeah. Those are easy to carry, so I w-would recommend them.” (Rosalie)
“It might be good to buy them. This lamp looks good too.” (Lewin)
“Ah, r-rather than that lamp, I would recommend this one.” (Rosalie)
“Rosalie. I want some nice gloves.” (Aruna)
“Gloves? They’re in this corner… I would recommend these ones! Please try them on and see how you like them.” (Rosalie)
Aruna and I kept asking Rosalie questions as if she were an employee at this store, and we soon bought everything we needed. Just as Rosalie had said, the price of the goods were cheap and the quality was fairly good, so we were able to make a very satisfying purchase right off the bat.
