Chapter 39 Real Life (1)

Instead of letting Louise attack first and make the boss focus on her, Jake stepped forward with his katana and scabbard ready to be used. The monster quickly left the tall ceiling and then began to spin in the air even without flapping its wings. That probably was the skill Fly… it was the only explanation.

Suddenly, the monster dashed toward Jake. The speed of the creature was insane, but Jake used Bash in time. However, the creature's legs easily repelled his strike. Jake's arms were pushed toward the opposite direction due to the sheer power of the attack.

The creature gained altitude pretty fast as well and gained distance over the party. Louise didn't have the chance to fire any spell, thanks to it. It seemed that before hitting it with poison, perhaps slowing down the monster with Ice Arrow would be the best option.

Jake realized that he wouldn't be able to face that creature without giving his best furrowed his eyebrows and strengthened the grip on his weapon. The creature attacked against, but Jake's swing stopped the monster and pushed the creature backward this time. When the creature stopped in midair, it noticed that its right foot was bleeding… it happened so fast, but Jake used Bash, followed by Mana Blade when he hit the enemy. The monster grunted in pain, but Jake ignored it. In the next moment, Louise finally used Ice Arrow and hit the left wing of the beast since it reacted on time and tried to dodge. The attack froze the area slightly and made the monster lose balance, so Louise used Poison Bullet. The attack hit the monster's chest, and once again, the red eyes of the creature made the party feel the creature's bloodlust.

Giant Bat King Lv 65

Health: 6825/7250

Mana: 8900/8900

Stamina: 5980/6100

Those two attacks caused considerable damage, but things just started, and no one could tell what kind of tricks the monster had. Suddenly, the beast flapped its wings, and Jake opened his eyes in shock when he saw two Wind Blades flying toward him. He used the katana and the scabbard to block the attacks, but his arms still suffered some damage, and they began to bleed, Lana was quick to use Heal, but the monster didn't stop there.

Jake assumed a defensive position, and then Louise did her part when the next two Wind Blades flew toward him. While she didn't have much time to steal the mana from the attacks, she still decreased their power considerably and like a bullet, she also fired back an Ice Arrow toward the monster.

The extra-large projectile flew in a straight line toward the head of the monster and ended up hitting its forehead. The beast got dizzy and slowly began to lose altitude. Jake dashed toward the monster when he saw a part of the forehead frozen. Still, then he frowned when he saw that same area disappearing incredibly fast.

"That thing… it has resistance against freezing effects," Jake thought. "Louise! Focus on using poison!"

Louise nosed, and then Jake attacked the monster with his katana and scabbard, but the creature protected its face with its wings at the last moment. The katana opened a small wound on the wing, but it was almost laughable. Jake used Bash two times in a row and tried to make an opening in the creature's guard, but the boss resisted.

The monster jumped and then quickly gained distance over Jake. It seemed that while it could from up-close, it didn't like to be the one defending, or at least the creature loved to have some momentum behind each attack.

The boss flew toward Jake a bit slower than before and then used Wind Blade again. The creature wanted to force Jake to remain in a defensive stance, and the monster succeeded. Jake moved his katana and scabbard to block the attack, but at the last moment, he used only the scabbard to protect his eyes. That made him suffer more damage, but it gave Jake the chance to attack on the way as before when the monster approached. After getting wounded in the legs again, and then Louise attacked with Poison Bullet right in the face of the beast.

Jake used the chance given to him by that critical attack to jump with all his might and then swing his sword toward the eyes' of the creature. However, the monster predicted that and moved its wings to block his strike. Not even the combination of Bash and Mana Blade helped him this time.

"… What an annoying creature," Jake said after clicking his tongue.

pan,da n<0,>v,el At least Jake's attack gave Louise the chance to fire another Poison Bullet, and fortunately, the effects of the poison stacked. The creature grunted in annoyance once again and then glared toward Louise, but then it had to forget about her when Jake jumped and swung his sword. The monster flew up high, but it had to block the strike with its legs.

Much to everyone's surprise, the creature landed on the ceiling and then assumed its resting stance, but only for a second. Soon after, the monster began to scream, and it seemed that it was an actual attack since Jake and the girls had to close their eardrums. Despite that, they began to lose health… it was a sound attack that ignored defense granted by armor and other defensive items. Not to mention, it could reach all the parts of the last part of the dungeon.

Jake clicked his tongue in annoyance since the girls didn't have much health… they wouldn't last long like that, even if Lana managed to heal three people at the same time. In the end, Jake grabbed some blue leaves from his back and then ate them. They bombarded the monster's mouth with Mana Blade in the next moment. The beast was forced to stop since all attacks caused critical damage and even its mouth began to bleed profoundly…
