Chapter 65 Requirements (3)

To make use of the wounded claw of the monster against it, Jake began to circle around in that direction. When he dashed toward it, the beast retreated its left claw and then used the right one to smash Jake. However, Louise used Cold Winds to make the enemy slower, and Jake easily dodged the attack. That being said, the strike made the area tremble a little bit and cracked the ground while it also created a small crater. Nevertheless, Jake didn't hesitate to attack that same claw several times in a row.

"Focus on attacking. I can deal with this," Jake said after he retreated a little bit.

While ice magic could cause some damage, Cold Winds weren't doing as much, probably because Louise didn't make the skill level up that much. Louise Nodded and then began to focus on increasing the size of her Ice Arrows again.

Jake noticed the claw of the monster moving around again and was prepared for another wave of poison. Still, instead of that, Jake and the others felt the ground shaking. While it wasn't much, they were losing health as well. Jake tried to keep standing no matter what, but then a huge claw hit him his shield and sent him flying for several meters, losing one-third of his health while he was at it.

"Son of a bitch…" Jake said while he was getting up.

The monster approached while the ground still was shaking, but the creature stopped, and the tremor also ended when Louise hit its face with an Ice Arrow. The beast flinched, and Jake made three Mana Blades explode in the monster's face. Unfortunately, he couldn't see much damage done in there. Even though they were all critical attacks, such as the high defense of the monster…

The boss dashed toward Jake viciously, but then the creature slowed down when multiple ice arrows flew to its left claw. In the end, the beast turned its body and stopped the charge… it would rather suffer damage like that than let its face or wounded claw get hit again. That plan was pretty decent, but Jake wouldn't let the monster's AI work that well. He used Dash and then approached with lightning-like speed and hit the monster's left claw several times in a row.

The creature used Poison Cannon before Jake could attack, but he blocked it with his shield. Still, much to Jake's annoyance, he still was put under the poisoned status just because a few drops landed on his arm. Fortunately, his Poison Resistance was countering its effects. However, Louise stopped the monster again when she made an Ice Arrow fly toward the monster's face. The creature blocked with its right arm, and then it knew what was going to happen next. The beast stopped its cannon attack and tried to retreat, but Jake, while using Dash and moving forward, was faster and attacked the frozen arm with Bash, Double Strike, and Cyclone Strike.

The monster grunted in pain, and that was the first time Jake saw a scorpion making noises through its mouth. Not like he had seen many scorpions, though. It seemed a bit too soon for the monster to go berserk, but in the end, the boss pointed its tail toward the girls and completely ignored Jake. In the blink of an eye, he had to make a decision, attack the boss with all his might and hope that he would cause enough damage to stop the boss before killing them or their rush and protect them. Jake hesitated for a moment, he knew that he was egocentric, but he didn't want to correct that… Still, somehow, he understood in that brief moment that he couldn't let them suffer a game over. He was the front liner, and his job was to keep the back line.

In an instant, Jake approached them and used his shield to block the poison, and he did so while sighing. That was one of the reasons why he wanted to become a solo player. He didn't have to solve that kind of a mess. Still, those girls helped him more than a little bit in the last few days… even though it was the inverse in real life.

"Thanks," Lana said. "For a second, I thought you wouldn't come."

"Whatever…" Jake said.

"Thank you, Jake," Louise said with a smile.

"What is with this weird atmosphere?" Jake frowned. "Just focus on stealing that thing's mana and then prepare the biggest spell that you have fired until now."

"All right… here I come," Louise nodded.

The boss kept firing the Poison Cannon for quite a while since it saw the group getting poisoned, but the damage wasn't enough to surpass Lana's healing skills. In the end, the monster saw a huge Ice Arrow above the group, and it still was growing. Feeling the danger, the beast tried to attack it, but it didn't fast enough to stop Louise.

Jake frowned at the size of the Ice Arrow. It was almost an Ice Spear that emitted a lot of cold. Still, he was surprised by the fact that Louise was actually concentrating a lot on making that happen. Her eyes were closed, and everything, not to mention she was sweating bullets… maybe he shouldn't have told her to fire her biggest spell so far…

Nevertheless, the projectile flew toward the monster, and the creature was forced to block the attack with both claws. The arrow covered both arms with ice and froze them. At the same time, the monster was pushed back several meters and then was forced to stop the Poison Cannon. Jake used that chance to charge and use everything to kill the beast in his arsenal. The creature tried to attack with its tail again, but Jake stopped it by firing two Mana Blades. Much to his surprise, the beast trembled all over when it got hit in there…
