Chapter 101 Suspicious (1)

Jake and the others decided to return to the river. It was the only source of clean water they had for the time being, after all. Besides, it was a place where it was hard to move without being noticed, so aside from at night, they didn't have to worry about being ambushed. However, before that, they talked with some guards of the other nearby camps, and apparently, their leaders were not interested in selling or buying items from others. They wasted some hours doing that, but they were already back at the river around midnight.

"Urgh… all this walking is so annoying," Lana said.

"To be honest, I am starting to get tired of it as well," Louise said.

"You guys can go and rest, I will stay on guard duty," Jake said. "We already wasted almost two days in this foolish search, so we will have to catch up with the hunt tomorrow morning."

In the end, it really seemed like they had to rely on Luke to make any real progress outside fights and to learn more. They also need to confirm if they could go back to Earth. At least the girls looked like they really wanted to do that. Regardless, Jake decided to check the missions available while the girls were preparing their improved beds using the rabbit's fur.

Planet Solmathea - Mission: prevent the Reptilians' dungeon from breaking in 29 days. Reward: 10.000 coins, 1000 fame, and a magic weapon.

Planet Solmathea - Mission: kill ten thousand ice slimes and five ice slime bosses. Reward: 20.000 coins, 2000 fame, and a magic item.

Planet Solmathea - Mission: kill ten thousand imps and five imp bosses. Reward: 20.000 coins, 2000 fame, and a tome.

Planet Cimuria: prevent the golem's dungeon from breaking in 121 hours. Reward: 12.000 coins, 1200 fame, and fifty small mana potions.

Planet Miamia - Mission: attack the Druids. Reward: 30.000 coins, 3000 fame, and Undead Staff.

Planet Miamia - Mission: defend the Druids. Reward: 30.000 coins, 3000 fame, and Nature Bow.

The number of missions increased by one, probably due to the fact that their fame increased as well. Regardless, just like Clark said, they could select again the Reptilians' mission, but instead of that, Jake felt like choosing one of the last three.

"They will probably take some time to complete, but… their rewards are pretty good," Jake nodded to himself.

The potions were probably the ones that could help Jake more right at the moment. As for the other rewards, they wouldn't even fit his fighting style. Selling the weapons would be the best option, but to who?

While Jake practiced his control over the Flames of Wrath, he also checked his plants and confirmed that some of them already had left to reap. Jake got them, but only to replant. The number of herbs was too small to make any real differences in a battle yet. So, Jake needed to create a large number of them.

The next morning, when the girls woke up, Jake decided to take a light nap, just to rest his head a little bit, and once he woke up, they had breakfast together while they talked about their next mission.

"So, the missions changed because no one went to clear the dungeons before the dungeon breaks," Lana said. "How troublesome."

"I think clearing the golem's dungeon is our best option at the moment," Louise said. "That will grant us some potions and save us some time since we can use those to level up our skills."

"I was thinking along those lines as well," Jake nodded. "What do you think, Lana?"

"That is fine by me," Lana shrugged. "I just want to find a guild where the members and their leader won't look suspicious to you as soon as possible and find a way home. While I didn't give up on learning more about this whole situation, I don't want to appear on the TV as a missing person. Speaking of which, you would be in a serious situation if that is to become a notice in the NEWS."

"How come?" Jake asked.

"Well, just think about it," Lana replied. "You brought two pretty girls to your apartment and then you disappear a few days later… your reputation will be over if that were to happen."

Jake couldn't care less about what other people think of him, but things get a more complicated if he were to be labeled as a criminal. While it was only natural due to the situation, he wouldn't let things like that and would give the people who assumed that a real reason to think of him as a criminal…

"There is also the fact that you beat some people to the point where their blood gushed into your clothes…" Lana added. "Some people might think that you already are on the run."

"Thank you for letting me know of that, I certainly don't have enough thinks in my head troubling me now," Jake furrowed his eyebrows.

"Seriously? I never imagined someone with a stone face like yours could look troubled," Lana added.

"Whatever, let's just go and defeat some golems," Jake said and then selected his next mission.

After selecting the mission, the group appeared in the middle of a barren land with nothing but dead plants and a few hills insight. The temperature was pretty high, and that seemed a pretty good environment for golems to fight, but not for humans. They didn't consider such a possibility when they selected the mission… that they would come to such a place.

"I suppose we will keep moving to places that favors the monsters," Louise said, already looking troubled.

The barren lands were even more troublesome than the deserts because the wind was too weak, so there was no real relief from that hellish heat. Fortunately, the group already knew better than complaining wouldn't do them any good. It only would make them waste energy… Not to mention, three golems emerged from the ground, so they had to fight right at that moment.
