Chapter 132 New Start (2)

While it seemed a bit dangerous to move at night when the snakes could hide in the vegetation, the group of twenty people left the base, and much to Jake's annoyance, Luke went with them.

"Don't worry, we will handle everything, so you only need to sit back and relax," Luke said.

"You mean that your guild will do everything so we don't get any coins or loot," Jake said.

"Something like that," Luke said. "We can't let a poison as dangerous as this fall on the wrong hands, right?"

"Right… and who decided that your hands are the right ones?" Jake asked.

"Well, we decided that," Luke shrugged. "If you see any of our members using the poison for the wrong purposes, you can complain and contest the ownership of those materials."

"I am sure there are many right purposes out there that poison can be used for," Jake said.

"Is this conversation last for long?" Lana asked. "I am sorry to say this, but when you two are doing the talking it seems like one hell of a boring conversation between two people exchanging boring insults."

"I would recommend you arguing with the overly cautious swordsman here," Luke grinned. "It is pretty fun."

"I do that at least once a day and I am certain that is not the case," Lana said.

It didn't take long for the group to stop since they found some monsters. However, around ten archers attacked the monsters from a distance and completely annihilated them. The creatures didn't have the chance to do anything… probably because they were far away from the dungeon and their numbers still were low. Nevertheless, after the archers did their jobs, the warriors went to drain the poison from the snakes' bodies. Since they had big numbers, the job was done in the blink of an eye. That continued for several hours, and Jake was already itching to complain, and he barely could hold back his sighs. Looking for Luke's guild had truly been a mistake.

"Are you hanging there, champ?" Luke said. "I feel like you are about to make a vein explode."

"Mind your own business," Jake said.

"Putting that aside, even I feel a bit troubled in clearing a dungeon and receiving the rewards without working for it," Lana said.

"It can't be helped… it is their territory," Louise said.

A few minutes later, the group began to fight pretty much every minute, even before the warriors could finish their job of skinning the snakes. Still, the archers were so used to that that they kept fighting without making a single mistake. It annoyed Jake to admit it, but all those twenty guys were way stronger than him, even considering Flames of Wrath.

After around twenty minutes of continuous fights, the number of snakes decreased, and the group finally found the dungeon. The place was basically a small mountain covered in insanely tall grass and vines. Without a single shred of hesitation due to the darkness of the place, the archers let the group inside the dungeon, and they kept killing snakes like it was a sport and they were the best athletes in the sport. At that point in time, Jake even had given up on the idea of fighting the boss. He was just wishing that the torture would end as soon as possible.

"That sword is pretty rare," Luke said as he watched Jake holding the hilt of his sheeted weapon.

"It isn't up for sale," Jake said.

"Figures. In any case, do you want a recommendation of a really exciting mission?" Luke said. "That sword will come in handy in going to…"

"I am not interested," Jake said.

? "You never change," Luke shrugged. "It is kind of refreshing seeing that since many people change after leaving the tutorial… Well, I wish you luck in keep going like that."

The group found a small-sized forest inside the last room of the dungeon. There was even a small lake there and from which the boss came. Unlike the other monsters that were only green, the boss had blue and green stripes covering its body. Aside from that, it was two times larger than the other snakes… it was big enough to make Lana and Louise's shiver just looking at it, and they had just gotten used to the size of the ordinary snakes.

In the end, since Jake wasn't going to fight it, he didn't bother checking the statuses of the monsters. Without receiving any orders, ten warriors dashed toward the boss with their shields raised while the archers bombarded the boss. It was a pretty plain modus operandi, but the beast was getting injured at an insane pace. The boss fired dozens of Poisonous Arrows toward the archers, but they ignored that. Jake saw their health decreasing, but not so fast… their Poison Resistance increased more than a little bit after clearing the dungeon so many times. When that didn't work, the monster tried to smash them with their tail, but the warriors stopped the boss with their shields. Even when such a massive beast attacked with all its might, the tail only made the frontline move a few meters backward, but they soon recovered. Not to mention, the snake didn't have the chance to attack again since the archers killed it.

"I guess this is it," Luke said. "If you want to become strong as them, you know what to do."

"Becoming as strong as them would be boring," Jake said. "I will become much stronger than them."

"I wish you luck with that as well," Luke said and then turned to face the girls. "I hope to see you guys again, if the blockhead here doesn't get you all killed. Don't worry, though. A few days of pain and continuous hardship should soften his stubbornness."

Soon after, the group was teleported back to the starting planet, and the first thing Jake did was to click his tongue in annoyance. Luke sure was underestimating him if he thought that at some point, he would crawl back and join his guild…
