When Jake checked the missions the next day, he found several of them, but only those seemed like a challenge. In any case, the missions of the druids still were there, but there was a new one in a new world that also seemed interesting. It was also pretty different from all the others… there was no mention of dungeons or bosses… Which was weird, he has never seen or heard of a mission like that, and it didn't seem special in any way as well. That being said, liches were a very different type of monster...
"Liches, huh… they usually are depicted are evil necromancers that only care about immortality, but here things must be different," Jake thought.
Jake didn't want to get involved with the druids since it seemed that it would change things in their world. Besides, the rewards weren't that interesting for his build. Considering the rewards, the mission was supposed to be at least two times more difficult than the previous one, but since there were no time limits, things were weird.
"Can I get stuck in that world if they decide to spread around?" Jake thought.
That seemed like a problem… in the tutorial zone. They separated those that had the potential to risk their lives and survive in those worlds. Still, it doesn't mean that even those that have potential can't be incompetent. Jake didn't want to think that he could be like that, but…
"Oh, well… This seems like a challenge and I am all for it," Jake thought. "Let's see… liches usually use dark magic like curses and debuffs, I don't have resistance to that, so I will have to learn the skills once I find a dungeon."
Since the mission didn't have a time limit, Jake could find one before searching for the liches… probably. Nevertheless, while he was finishing his preparations, Jake wondered why some guilds didn't accept that mission. It certainly looked rare since it couldn't be done again and again.
"I suppose those two would know more about this, still, I don't want to get involved with them, so I will have to find my own answers," Jake thought.
After he finished his preparations, Jake selected the mission, and then he was teleported to Zubos… he was expecting to find a weird world since it was the home of some liches, but he only found an ordinary-looking world filled with blue and green. However, after a while, Jake noticed that he wasn't hearing anything. Usually, he would be able to hear the sound of animals and monsters or even the wind in the distance, but the world sure looked silent.
"Usually, the system transport us to locations that aren't far away from our destination, so I guess I will have to walk for a while…" Jake thought.
Liches usually don't like sunlight, so Jake had some time for his search. He headed in the direction the sun was setting, and he got lucky enough to find some traces of civilization, but it was a destroyed village. Jake could find signs of a battle, craters on the ground, destroyed walls, and burned to a crisp wood… but it wasn't something recent.
"This doesn't seem like something caused by liches… then again, they are basically necromancers, and those can summong skeleton wizards," Jake thought. "Maybe there was something that they could find here…"
Jake tried to find some clue, but that village was small and rather simple… so he didn't find any building that seemed like a place which would have valuables. He didn't find corpses either… so he considered the possibility that the enemies would have an army of skeletons army under their command. That would complicate things, but it was more experience and coins for Jake, so it was fine.
In any case, while looking around, Jake saw some items left behind, and one of them was a dark magic wand near some destroyed house. Jake also found a cloak and some bones under the destroyed house. So, he imagined that a lich died there… It was weird that they would get so close to a house that was about to fall, but…
Liches Basic Wand
Effects: Intelligence + 10. Master this item to obtain the effects of the item permanently.
Durability: 10/10
It was also weird that a magic wand couldn't grant him any skill, but Jake was thankful for that since he could obtain the status points without ruining his build by learning a spell of some sort.
Jake kept looking for a while longer, and then he found some footprints left behind. They were heading east of the village, and they seemed quite deep… Like it belonged to people that were wearing armor. He was expecting to see a lot of weird shit in that world, but not mages wearing heavy armor.
"It could also be the footsteps of heavily armored skeletons… but they would be pretty slow," Jake thought. "Regardless… I just have to follow them and be prepared for anything that might happen."
The path ahead had many hills, and it wasn't straight, but at least it would be hard for the inhabitants of that world to find Jake approaching in the distance. It would be weird if there were some lookouts nearby a village that was destroyed probably months ago. Still, there was no demerit in being careful. Jake also would have more time to keep leveling up his buffs, so that wasn't all so bad.
