Chapter 156 Intel (1)

"I take it that you came to get some Intel about the possible humans who caused that problem in order to prevent them from causing more problems," Adam said. "We can give you the information that you want. In exchange, we want to hear how you dealt with the quest. Naturally, you can hide the details of your skills."

"Can't I just give you coins for the information?" Jake asked.

"We don't need money, information would help us far more any coin that you can give us," Adam said.

Jake sighed since it was only natural… Still, he wished that there was another option. While he could hide some details, he didn't want to give any information regarding his activities. However, after thinking for a while, he realized that he still would be fine. Even if information about him were to be spread somehow despite the fact that he would try to prevent it, that would only make battles more interesting. Overpowering assholes was quite fun, but beating them on their own game despite the preparation that they may done was even better.

"All right…" Jake said and then sighed.

In the end, Jake explained how the mission went, but he kept hidden his skills and how exactly he defeated his foes. He also didn't mention about the things he had seen regarding the liches and their hideout. He wanted to use those for himself, after all.

"This will suffice," Adam said. "I can't say what you should do with this information, but I still would like to ask you not to spread it. We are keeping a close eye on some groups because they represent a certain level of danger based on their actions, even if some of them hadn't done anything yet."

"As if you would tell secret information to others for free," Jake said.

"In any case… We are keeping a close eye for three groups," Adam said. "Two of them had six members and one of them had only three. In Zubos, there is a dungeon that spawns armadillos, right? Then my guess is that this group with three members is the one you are looking for. Recently, they upgraded their gear and now they are all wearing full plate armor and bastard swords after they made some blacksmiths melt some materials and forge them into this equipment. After bearing about this, do you recall seeing anything in that world that might confirm my guess?"

"Possibly…" Jake replied after he recalled that in some villages, he saw footsteps of people that were wearing heavy armor.

"In that case, you found your targets, but I think it would be wise if you tried to study them a bit more before attacking," Adam said. "Also, they have been here for a full month before you came, so their strength is higher than yours. Their base is in Peiritis."

"I will see what I can do," Jake said. "Well, thank you for your time."

Jake wasn't planning on killing innocent people, so it was only natural that he would be careful. Nevertheless, there was a reason they were on the watchlist of Luke's guild. Also, all things that he knew appointed that they were the culprits. Regardless, Jake wondered if it was a coincidence or if the system really granted Jake a new location that would be the same spot that his targets were. It was hard to assume that was the case after that only happened once.

In any case, before returning to the neutral planet, Jake had to kill some anacondas… while he could select a mission and then cancel the current one. He wasn't the type who would waste time like that. Besides, it seemed that the population of monsters had grown a bit since the last time he had been there… that guild had been careless or perhaps too busy.

Jake returned to the neutral world around midnight and decided to sleep as much as possible. It would be hard to say when he will find those guys, even if he goes to their base. They might leave on a mission, after all. Still, that also might help him since it will grant him the chance to hide and watch them from afar while they are unaware that someone is headed to their base.

"That being said, if they are really up to no good, they will keep an eye on the starting point of that world at all times and they will attack me the moment they see me alone," Jake thought.

There was a chance that Jake was overthinking things. It wouldn't be weird if some people were stupid or insane enough that killing allies won't be the same as killing humans… even if they could talk and had many semblances with them, some people would think that it was fine to think of them as animals… or even think that they are NPCs. Regardless, Jake's policy was to always assume the worse about the others.

"I'd better check my status and use the ones that I obtained," Jake thought.

Although that mission lasted for several days, at least Jake had that chance to get a lot stronger than he had expected. The next one probably won't make him much stronger, but if he survives, then he will get some valuable loot.
