Despite the conditions of the environment, Jake was well-rested, so he was confident that he would do well. While he was approaching, it didn't take long for the creatures to notice him. A lot more of them noticed that, but only around fifty moved toward him. As if they were unmotivated to do anything else, they only used Fireballs to get him. Jake hid behind a boulder and the beasts tried to destroy that and while their power was something else, it would take a while for them to destroy the boulder, so they circled around it. Only to see Jake climbing it at the last moment and then jumping toward them. It would be better to start things like that to confuse the enemies even more before the real show.
Jake landed on the back of one of the crows and then immediately beheaded the creature. Before the monster could fall, he jumped toward another and did the same. The enemies only began to fly away once the fifth lost its head. At that point, Jake had to change his strategy again and then he climbed on the back of another and held its neck as roughly as possible.
"Come on, come on… give me a ride, will you?" Jake asked.
The monster struggled for a short while, but then it stopped struggling when Jake hit its back with the hilt of his sword. The other monsters fired their Fire Arrows, and then Jake pulled the neck of the creature upward and the monster flew upward as well. He was pretty heavy, with his sword and armor, so the beast wasn't at its best speed.
"So, your head it is like a joystick?" Jake asked. "To where I point you will fly? Let's circle around the area first."
Jake tried to move away while flying from the monsters, but he had to block a lot of projectiles with his sword. Not to mention, the other creatures were slowly catching up. It was only natural… Still, things changed a bit when Jake made the monster fly downward. Their speed suddenly increased since Jake was heavy. While approaching the other monsters that were caught off guard, he swung his sword and beheaded them.
Truth to be told, Jake wanted to experience riding a flying monster for longer and he also had that lance of his, but he was too big for a creature of that size, so he made the creature fly toward the entrance of the dungeon. Thanks to that, all the other crows in the vicinity got wary of him.
"Come and get it, buddies," Jake said and then summoned that lance.
The creatures that were trying to gain speed used Fireballs to block Jake's path, but he blocked them with the lance. Once he got close enough, he began to skewer those beasts like they were pieces of meat on a barbecue. When others tried to attack from the sides, he swung the lance and knocked down several of them while wounding them deeply.

"I could get used to this…" Jake said.
A few minutes ago, Jake couldn't imagine himself fighting like that, but he could see how useful and it was to have a mount. First of all, you save a lot of stamina, second of all… he didn't think of the second reason yet. Nevertheless, Jake easily pushed the monsters away from his path. Although some Fireballs hit him, at that point in time, he was used to them.
Eventually, Jake reached the entrance of the dungeon and then he jumped toward it when he saw hundreds of fireballs falling toward him. He didn't waste time and then ran to the interior. Much to his surprise, the place was quite large. Easily four or five of those birds could fit there. It would make things a bit difficult for Jake, but it was better than firing dozens of them in the open.
"Things could have been different if that crow was a bit bigger, but it can't be helped," Jake said and then readied the lance.
Several of the crows tried to enter the dungeon at the same time and Jake used the confusion to skewer a lot of them at the same time. When some used that chance to come, Jake swung the lance and then hit their heads and smashed them against the dungeon's wall.
Some of the monsters tried to move away and bombard Jake with Fireballs, but from that distance, he could easily see their firing line and dodge them. Although they failed at hitting Jake, they insisted on that, so Jake used Mana Blade wondering how that would work with a weapon that its main focus was thrust. Much to his surprise, it fired a thin beam of energy that pierced five of the crows before losing power.
"Not bad… it is even better for long range than when I use it with swords," Jake thought.

Jake used that same strategy several times until the monsters realized that they were sitting ducks with their long ranged attacks. Without any other option, they began to form a line in the dungeon while walking, they were pretty close to each other, so Jake could tell that they were planning to use the corpses of the fallen as shields.
"Perhaps their bird brain isn't that bad…" Jake thought imagining how troublesome things would be if so many corpses get in his way.
Instead of waiting for the enemies, Jake charged at them and impale a lot of crows. At the same time, he kicked some of the corpses out of the dungeon. If they wanted to make a pile of monsters inside the dungeons, Jake would make one outside. While he was busy with that, he noticed the approach of a crow coming from behind… Naturally, the core would keep spawning them.
