Chapter 171 Underestimation (6)

The giant crow to began to use Fireballs again. For something that set in showing the difference between their strength, the boss sure liked to keep Jake at a distance. Still, the creature was dead wrong if it was thinking that it could stop him with that. Jake was famous for being able to use stupid ass ideas to get off several messes against monsters. Perhaps not famous, but he was good at that. Nevertheless, that was the kind of thing that really liked to do,

After thinking for a short while, Jake dashed toward the beast and used Boomerang Shield. That flew in a wide arc while destroying several Fireballs, and he followed the path left by the shield. The monster attempted to grab the shield with its mouth, but then Jake fired numerous Mana Blades toward the eye of the monster, forcing the beast to give up on that.

Eventually, Jake reached the beast and then used Explosive Touch while he repelled many Fireballs, making a curtain of smoke. The boss kept attacking Jake, shooting Fireballs until his shield returned to him. Several contained explosions happened, and the beast could tell that Jake was blocking all of the attacks, but what the monster didn't expect was the fact that a massive lance would suddenly fly toward its face at fearsome speeds.

The boss used Flamethrower to stop the projectile while it also moved its wings to protect its head and heart, and while the creature achieved that, it wasn't enough to not let the lance pierce one of its wings quite deeply.

"GYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH."

The monster screamed from the depths of its soul due to the pain, and Jake could only smirk… But not for long since he was holding his shield, and that heated up quite a bit due to the numerous Fireballs. In any case, Jake fired it to make the shield cool down on the face of that giant chicken.

The giant Crow was about to pull the lance when Jake attacked, so the beast used the other wing to block the shield, but the creature grunted in pain since Jake added the power of Freezing Touch and Concentrated Strike. It seemed that he could do that as long as he didn't move…

Jake approached and recovered his shield, only to be bombarded by dozens of Fireballs… The monster still could do that much. Still, Jake began to run toward the wounded wing, and the monster's attacking speed lowered since it was still wounded there. The beast used the remaining wing and tried to flap, but the shot only made Jake lose some speed and health. The power of the attack had decreased by more than half.

"When you can't make them run out of fuel, you can always cut their wings. I guess you can break their circuits like that…" Jake thought.

While the boss wasn't a machine, things still could work like that. Jak resumed his charge while dodging some Fireballs along the way and then jumped. The boss thought that Jake would target its head, but Jake only reached the lance and then attacked it with all his might to make the wound bigger and gush more blood from it.

Jake could see the monster losing ten points of health per second, Bleed was working more than a bit well, but it wasn't perfect since the beast had a high recovery. Nevertheless, Jake had another crazy idea, so he began to work toward that. While sidestepping and dodging the Fireballs, Jake slowly approached the other wing of the monster that wasn't hurt, so it seemed weird that he was taking advantage of it. Nevertheless, he insisted, even when he got hit multiple times on his shield, and the temperature was starting to burn his left arm.

When Jake was about to attack, the monster suddenly used its beak, and considering that the beast still could put a lot of its weight on that kind of action, it wasn't surprising that Jake was pushed backward. However, after blocking with his shield, he used Boomerang Shield and targetted the right eye of the monster. In the end, the beast reacted on time to protect its face with one wing. However, that also made the beast lose sight of him for a moment. When the beast saw him again, it saw Jake very close and about to attack with the Freezing Longsword.

While activating Sonic Thrust, Bash, and Freezing Touch, Jake tried to pierce the other wing of the monster. That was supposed to decrease its mobility tremendously and make the boss for the mistake of underestimating Jake. Although the wing wasn't exactly thick as hell, Jake only managed to pierce a few dozen centimeters and didn't reach the other side. However, he persisted.

Jake also used Sonic Blows to give some extra power to the weapon, and all that damage made the beast flinch in pain. Unfortunately, Jake saw the monster opening its mouth and preparing to use Flamethrower. At that range, he probably will be the one to die first… In the end, Jake kicked his sword with all his might to give him a push backward as well as to push it a bit deeper. Fortunately, he felt a bit less Resistance at the last moment, so he could tell that his sword had reached the other side.

While the creature was enraged due to the pain, Jake got the great sword from one of his magic boxes and then prepared to continue until he saw the monster pointing its mouth upward and then firing dozens of fireballs. Before long, Jake saw that a rain of lava began to fall around the area… The boss was finally getting serious.
