Chapter 189 Disposable (2)

Jake reached the enemies in time to see them using the system to head to another world. It was a pity that he couldn't tell to where they teleported to… Nevertheless, they were retreating en masse, so the job was over before things got too messy. A good part of the city had been destroyed, and hundreds of lives had been taken, but at least the worst-case scenario was avoided. Unfortunately, he didn't learn much about the enemies... so he couldn't predict their next steps.

Jake decided to leave the city, and he found it weird that he barely saw anyone guarding the entrances… the soldiers of the place were still recovering, but if reinforcements hadn't come to help… then why did the attackers leave?

"Perhaps they assumed that I was just the first or that I warned others," Jake thought while he was returning to the area of the dungeon without being bothered by anyone.

In any case, that attack put his plans in disarray, so he will have to reorganize and reconsider several things. The whole attack thing messed with Jake's pace, so it would be hard to keep hunting the undead trends until morning. Still, given that they were still looking for him, it would be better to force himself out for a while longer.

"I can always rest in a place in the city, after all… hopefully, that won't be a problem after the actions of those shitheads," Jake thought.

While Jake was hunting the undead trends, Lana, Louise, and Karina were returning to the guild base after completing a quest. They had just cleared the walking beehives dungeon, and they looked tired and as creeped out because of those creatures. Lana thought that they would get some honey from the monsters, but they got nothing of the like.

"Next time, don't let me take the lead and be fooled by the title of the mission," Lana said. "Only alien bee hives wouldn't proceed honey and actually would only produce bees."

"It was fine, right?" Louise asked. "We got some new gear and completed the mission, after all."

"... if possible, I would like to avoid fighting that kind of weird creature again," Karina said while trying to hide her discomfort.

"Hmm… It seems that things are getting a bit heated on the base," Louise said. "We should check it out."

The others nodded and increased their pace. At the same time, they found some people using the system to Teleport to somewhere in large groups. Eventually, they found Adam and his party about to leave as well.

"Hey, Adam, what happened?" Lana asked.

"One city was attacked by those guys again… One of our members was there when it happened and just returned to inform us of that," Adam replied. "It seems that the enemies noticed that and began to retreat already, but we should check things for clues and help with reconstruction as well."

Since rebuilding things was Frederick's specialty, he would go as well. It was unusual for the guild master to head to somewhere with so many of his members, but the situation called for that. Naturally, the girls decided to check things there as well. Even though they couldn't access that world yet, they could if they joined another part. As one would expect, they got a bit surprised when they saw themselves arriving in the middle of the night. Still, they quickly recovered and followed the other parties.

p "This is quite bad… but I was expecting to see things far worse," Lana said when they arrived at the town.

"It seems that only the low-level troublemakers were sent to this place…" Adam said while furrowing his eyebrows. "Bastards… so that is how it is…"

"... Were they training their recruits or something?" Louise asked.

"That is my guess… without the help of the powerhouses of their organization, those criminals were sent here to just obtain some experience doing this type of thing," Adam replied. "It seems a lot more humans are completing the tutorial, but I think those numbers are surreal… it is hard to believe, but we aren't even finding half of those that reach the necessary requirements."

"Speaking of which, where is Luke?" Lana asked.

"He is probably trying to find traces of large movements. In other words, he is quick to realize this kind of thing," Adam asked.

"Say… with his power, is it possible to bring people from the tutorial zone even if they don't complete it?" Karina asked.

"You shouldn't spread this to others… But it is possible," Adam said. "Most likely, the enemies are using such a method to bring more people to this side."

That was indeed a problem… If those that don't have innate skills come, the chances of them being manipulated and fooled that this entire thing is just part of the game is pretty high. Then again, it would be hard to imagine that when they run away after seeing some of their enemies being killed.

Although they didn't want it, Lana and the others followed Adam when he went to check one of the corpses of the criminals. The one closest to the entrance they used looked like it had been split in two by a large sword. Which was weird given that the soldiers of that city used spears for middle-range combat and claws for short ranged.

"Wow, they are like lions… I wonder if they would let me touch their fur," Lana said.

"Lana…" Louise said and then sighed.

They found the guild master waking around the city while checking the damage alongside the Captain of the city's guards. For some reason, that place had no Lord or proper leader. They only had a few military organizations, and they used those to train more recruits. Eventually, that group approached, and then they straightened up.

"It seems that the guards saw a lone traveler showing up earlier today," Frederick said. "They say that he was black-haired and had light brown eyes…"
