Chapter 228 Investigation (4)

Before the boss could attack again, Jake charged toward him and swung his sword. The orc used his own weapon to block the attack, but despite the difference in strength, his weapon trembled a bit since Jake used Explosive Touch. The combination was effective as always...

As soon as the attack ended, the monster swung its sword, but Jake put his weapon between them and blocked the attack. Despite that, he lost ten percent of his health and was pushed backward for dozens of meters… It had been a perfect block, but even so, it didn't work well enough to nullify all the power of the attack. Still, that was more or less withing his expectations.

The monster attacked again and while Jake blocked it, the enemy was the one who got surprised when his weapon and arm got a bit cold since he used Frozen Touch. That didn't make any sense… It wasn't like it would decrease the power of his attacks.

All of a sudden, Jake used Explosive Touch and pushed the enemy's weapon away. In the next moment, he used Flash and disappeared from the orc's sight. Still, the creature felt a slight sting in his sword arm and then felt the cold as well. Jake moved his sword and cut the enemy's army before freezing it. The orc was a bit surprised, but that much was no problem since not even blood was leaving his wound.

Suddenly, the boss leapt toward Jake who was behind him and then fell even faster while hitting the ground with his sword. Another powerful strike that could make the entire dungeon tremble… However, Jake jumped to the side and swung his sword, hitting the other arm of the monster. Once again, another cold that wasn't bleeding appeared.

Although it was barely noticeable, the boss realized that Jake's attacks were getting sharper and stronger… The number of scratches on his body also increased. When he realized that, the enemy finally understood that there was something off with Jake's attacks. His wounds were supposed to have healed a long time ago, but that didn't happen. He also realized that there was a smell of burn coming from them.

The orc grunted in annoyance when he realized that Jake's first useless atacks were just a diversion. The orc thought that they were useless, so he didn't mind the damage caused. Thanks to that, his health had decreased by almost two thousand points and its condition had decreased…

"He finally noticed… It can't be helped," Jake thought.

,m Jake was buying time to make the fight end up in a way that he would feel satisfied with his strength while fighting on equal grounds.

The orc changed his approach a bit, instead of attacking with a massive downward strike, the monster moved its sword to the size. That smelled like a problem… Jake could tell that the beast increased the scope of its attack to hit him more easily. Dodging that while attacking will be difficult… he still would receive damage by blocking or retreating.

"I want that weapon since I think it is the right one for the class, so I can't damage it, but that puts me in a bad spot…" Jake thought. "It would be fine if the flames could decrease his health permanently by themselves… I wonder why they need to be used with a weapon for that to work."

Before Jake could find an answer to that problem, the monster charged at him. In the end, the very moment the beast began to move its sword arm, Jake put all this strength into his let's. Jake jumped when the sword was about to hit him and somehow, he managed to avoid the Blade. The orc opened its eyes widely when he saw Jake's sword covered in dark flames moving toward the monster's neck.

Despite the situation, the beast reacted on time to stop the sword with the remaining hand. Jake didn't hold back, so the sword and the movement of the flames began to grind away the monster's flesh, but it didn't cause enough damage to cut the hand before the monster could pull the sword upward while Jake was still holding it and threw him to the wall nearby.

Jake spun so fast that he didn't have the chance to control his landing. In the end, he ended up hitting his face on the rough wall of the dungeon. While he felt numerous bones cracking, he was forced to recover as fast as possible because he knew that the boss would attack again to finish the job. His guess wasn't wrong…

When Jake turned around, he saw the huge shadow of the orc approaching, but since the creature was coming for the kill, Jake managed to use Flash while lowering his stance to the side. The orc collided against the wall and paid the price for being too greedy; the impact made the beast stagger. On the other hand, while hurt, Jake fired a barrage of Dark Blades against the enemy. The first few hit the orc in full, but the others were blocked by the enemy's sword.

At first, the orc thought that Jake was trying to gain time, but then he saw him dashing toward him. Jake's movement speed suddenly increased and then his sword strike pushed the orc backward for a full meter. The enemy frowned since Jake wasn't supposed to be that strong… But then the beast realized that Jake's magic parameters had decreased while the physical had increased.

All of a sudden, Jake moved his body to the side and ended up hitting the right side of the monster and some of his ribs cracked… He really had bought that fight to a close range…
