Somehow, because of the cold, Jake's bleeding stopped soon… perhaps his recovery helped with that as well. Still, he felt extremely weak due to the blood loss, and he had to abort that mission for a while… that idea was beyond annoying...
While Jake was pouring some potions into his wounds to help, he saw a group of people approaching. That only worked to make him more annoyed since they were Frederick and the redhead guild master. Both of them frowned when he saw Jake. It was hard to say if they were surprised that he still was standing with that wound in his body or if they were surprised that they didn't find someone else…
"You really have rotten to luck to find those guys so often…" Frederick said.
Jake didn't hide his displeasure in front of them. Still, he managed to link the dots. It seemed that the criminals caused the dungeon break to lure some potential prey, and that would explain why those morons appeared.
"What happened here?" Frederick asked. "We heard that some guild members went missing after selecting this mission."
"You can't see a trap in front of you, huh," Jake said. "They caused another dungeon break… You guys assumed that it wasn't their dual because there isn't a town or a royal family nearby. Anyway, I didn't find anyone here aside from that asshole."
The pain was decreasing, and so was Jake's annoyance. His instincts warned him, and he came anyway. He couldn't blame anyone for that… Besides, the fight was pretty fun… the next time, Jake will finish off that asshole. He was more than certain of it.
"You got lucky this time… you really shouldn't keep fighting solo," Frederick said. "You are only giving them more reason to attack you."
"I believe that is one more reason to keep going solo. I can't get tired of the thrill of fighting and defeating assholes. You should try someday," Jake said. "Also, I had things under control even before you guys showed up."
Jake went to grab the hilt of the bald man's sword… he would be able to combine that one better with his flames… he also wanted to put that in that bastard's ass for stealing his sword. Still, he will be satisfied just by killing him for good after forcing him to tell everything that he knew.
"How does that guy look like?" The redhead guild master asked. "We fought some of these friends trying to buy time, but we failed at capturing any of them or seeing their faces, but it looked like that guy revealed his face to you."
"As expected of you guys… a fine job as always," Jake said. "I felt like I had seen him somewhere before… and he sure looked like he knew me. He said and acted like those assholes have been keeping an eye on me. Not that it surprises me."
Frederick and the redhead looked at each other… it seemed that they knew something about that. Jake pretended that he didn't notice it. If they wanted to play that game, then it was fine. No more diplomacy for them… anything else would have to be paid in one way or the other.
"As for how he looked like… I can't remember well now," Jake said. "I wonder if something can help me refresh my memory."
Frederick and the redhead looked at each other again. They thought that Jake was just a brute who liked to fight, but they were a bit wrong about him… after thinking for a while, they decided to ask what he wanted instead of just offering random things.
"Let's see… how about some items that can only be bought after clearing some missions that are ahead of me?" Jake asked.
"There isn't much then… you are almost catching up with the front line," Frederick replied. "After this one, you will just have to clear two others to be able to reach the first group of people that completed the tutorial."
"Well, that is disappointing," Jake said. "I was expecting a lot more from you guys."
"... Regardless, it seems that the guy you fought has an innate skill related to ice," Frederick said. "Since you are also struggling with survivability, I can offer you an armor that will grant you ice immunity and a magic staff that will grant you the skill Regeneration."
"I hate magic. Don't you have something else that can do something similar?" Jake asked.
"Why would you hate magic… it is so convenient," Frederick said.
"... I don't have to waste my time here, and I will investigate the dungeon," The redhead guild master said after a long sigh.
"Right, right…" Frederick said. "You got on her nerves, did you? I bet she didn't even tell you her name."
"Not like I care. Not knowing her name gives me more reason to call her whatever the hell I want," Jake said.
"Anyway, that is all that I can offer," Frederick said. "I guess you would want to settle the score by yourself, but I want to hear about his skills as well, in case he targets others."
That was true, but Frederick had bought that information, so Jake didn't try to hide anything regarding that asshole's abilities. Frederick frowned since it seemed like the enemy could become a mage of his level, but decided to become a hybrid, or maybe he was that strong because he decided to fight like that…
"Thanks for your cooperation," Frederick said. "I will send someone to deliver the items to the your base."
That didn't seem like a good idea, but it was better than making Jake head to that guild. He was going to be bothered again, but it seemed that he would have to rest for a few days since the wound wasn't closing up as fast as he wanted. As if… Jake wouldn't let such a thing stop him.
"If that is all, then I am leaving," Jake said.
