Chapter 241 Back Together (1)

Jake kept moving toward the dungeon at a slow pace, and he only found a handful of monsters along the way. The reason for that was the fact that most of them were around a certain mountain, and several parties were hunting the strays. Still, there was no sign of them approaching the large group. That was a bit weird, but not exactly impossible considering what their goal was.

"I guess the guild dumbasses will eventually come and solve this, so I should try to kill as many of them as possible before they come…" Jake thought. "I need to capitalize on the dungeon break... the only problem is that I am not in shape good enough for that. Fucking baldie... The next time I see you, before kicking your ass, I will tell you all the bald people jokes that I know..."

Jake looked for an area where the parties were far away, and then he walked toward the monsters. That was quite the bold plan, but it couldn't be helped since his flames needed a certain range to show their true power. Nevertheless, some monsters noticed his approach and moved to attack him. The first group had been stupid enough to get too close and tried to bite him to death. When they opened their mouths, Jake fired dark flames spinning bullets toward them. Those pierced the heads even more easily while spinning…

The others tried to keep their distance. Firing ice arrows and ice spears, they tried to impale Jake, but some small walls of dark flames blocked their paths and easily blocked them. Jake's range was fifty meters, so he used his bullets once he got close enough.

"I suppose this will do, even if it isn't my style... can't have my cake and eat it at the same time, I guess," Billy thought.

While Jake was working on getting the scales and the fur of the wolves, he saw several monsters approaching. He thought that he was pretty far away, but they still came to attack him… Their numbers were pretty high as well. So, Jake waited for them to come as close as possible. Once they formed a line, Jake fired a giant shuriken using his dark flames, and that one cut the heads of four monsters and wounded the other two. This time, he felt his mind getting a bit tired, so he could tell that exaggerating like that wouldn't help.

"I definitely can use more of the dark flames than before, but I am not sure if it is because of the level… I am quite certain that intelligence only increased its firepower," Jake thought.

Jake kept attacking the monsters with more caution, and he had to move a bit while relying on the bullets. Still, since he used some extra potions, the wound wasn't bothering that much anymore. However, he still couldn't muster much strength in his limbs… he would need to eat and drink to recover the blood that he had lost. Fortunately, the sun was setting in that world, so Jake had a good reason to stop and take a break. He only didn't have an excellent place to take shelter…

"Let's open a hole in this mountain," Jake said.

After approaching the mountain, Jake created a bigger drill using his dark flames, and then he began to dig. Fortunately, the flames managed to eat away the rocks and the ground without any problems. After just ten minutes, Jake created a man-made cave. It was weird, but the parts he burned had become lifeless dust… It didn't burn or anything.

After that, Jake burned the exterior of some pieces of wood that he got to get rid of the moisture inside. Then, he made a campfire using Flame Arrow. Lastly, he began to cook some of the Grizzlies' meat he still had. That ended pretty quickly, so he skinned some of the crystal wolves. As one would expect, the smell of their allies being cooked attracted crystal wolves. Unfortunately for them, they didn't have anywhere to run once they showed themselves.

"Until now, there is no clear side effect, but it seems I can use the dark flame-like Bullets without worrying about my mind," Jake thought.

Jake already knew that such skill was stupidly powerful. Still, he avoided using it because of those dreams and the idea that a ghost would take over his body. The words of that bald man only made him think that he was right… The ghost was about to awaken inside him. Since he couldn't recall who that guy was, then it was probably an acquaintance of that guy in the dreams. After thinking for a while, Jake recalled that in his second dream, that guy killed a bald swordsman who was pretty similar to the other one…

"When I mentioned something similar to Frederick, he also reacted… he knows something about this," Jake said while he was pilling the corpses at the entrance of the cave to block the wind. "I wonder if those guys have learned anything from him…"

Until now, the girls didn't change her behavior, so it didn't seem like they had heard of anything shocking. They were terrible at acting, so they wouldn't be able to hide that kind of thing from Jake. Apparently, Frederick values them a lot since he wants to make use of my work while he gains time to make them reach their potential… but it was clear that he still was keeping his distance. Jake assumed that they would rather fight with the people that they knew instead of letting strangers, even from the guild, join them.

"Now… this is better," Jake said after he managed to cover almost all the cave entrance with the wolves' bodies. "It smells like wet animals, but at least it is warm in here."

Jake decided to sleep for a while, and that probably helped his wounds better than anything.
