Chapter 299 Rain Clouds (1)

The beast noticed that the attacks and the dark flames opened some holes in the claws, and since they were like nails instead of the claws of the frozen Grizzlies, the damage was also reflected on the monster's body. Things didn't end there, though…

While the enemy hesitated, Jake went on the offense. He didn't hold back and then attacked with full swing. The boss blocked the attack with both claws, but Jake ignored that; he kept using the skill like a madman. Until the enemy finally realized that his endurance was decreasing and each strike was causing considerably more damage.

Without any other choice, the monster used Ice Spears and bombarded Jake while protected itself with its claws. Still, Jake ignored all that and activated Steel Storm. The ice spears began to hit Jake, but he recovered the same amount of damage whenever he spun around and hit the enemy several times. Eventually, the claws of the boss shattered into pieces, and Jake began to hit the monster's head.

The boss began to lose thousands of points of health with each strike and was forced to use Ice Breath while it was trying to move backward, but Jake ignored that as well… it was time to end all that once and for all, so he used all the buffs that he could and ignored the damage that he was suffering and even the ice spears that were piercing his back…

In the end, Jake's body began to freeze faster than the monster could die. So, he used his final card… he threw his sword inside the monster's mouth and then summoned his shield to protect him from the Ice Breath. Unfortunately, that had been useless since the Ice Breath ended, and even the ice spears stopped from being fired. The sword enhanced by the dark flames did the last rites for the boss.

The skill Flames of Wrath has leveled up.

The skill Master Thief has leveled up.

Jake sighed in relief when the monster stopped moving. He finally won, but he felt like he could die at any moment since numerous ice spears were piercing his body. He began to pull those out in order to let Recovery do its magic.

"I thought that bosses wouldn't give me much by using Master Thief, but the amount of experience in the skill was ten times higher than expected; I guess I can use them to gain status points as well," Jake thought.

Once again, Jake didn't get a single decent drop, but it was fine. It wasn't like he needed any new equipment, after all. After resting for a couple of minutes, Jake felt that it was time to move again. However, before that, he had to put his final action in that world in motion. He called one wolf and then told the creature to attack the dungeon core in ten minutes.

"I have to at least leave a present behind for those assholes, after all," Jake said.

Once he left the dungeon, Jake waited until the whole mountain began to tremble, and then he chose the next mission. He had planned to rest for a bit and let his wolves do the fighting if he had to, but then Jake saw himself in the middle of a weird city… it was the first time that he was teleported to such a place after selecting a mission.

"What the hell…" Jake said.

After looking around, Jake saw many dark buildings, but after getting close to them, he realized that they were like giant machines that were emitting a lot of static energy. The sky was dark because of storm clouds, but there were no signs of rain, but Jake could hear lightning bolts falling in the distance.

Another weird thing was that Jake couldn't find any signs of people around. Come to think of it, that place looked more like one of those places that distribute electricity to many cities. However, it was a lot bigger than any city that jake had seen… he couldn't feel mana on the machines, so it wasn't a development caused by magic.

"More weird things in coming, huh," Jake said. "Well, let's walk around for a while, and then I will decide how to proceed."

Jake wanted to check things from above, but he couldn't create ice in an area where machines were constantly storing and sending away electricity. So, he jumped with all his might. Unfortunately, Jake only found a never-ending sea of machines.

"The fuck is wrong with this place… I thought I would only find fantasy-like words. Was I teleported to the world of the matrix?" Jake thought while he was falling down.

Jake reached five hundred meters of height so that he could see a few dozen kilometers in all directions. Never mind Humans, he couldn't see a single thing moving.

In the end, Jake made his wolves spread around the area in order to check the area and find the smell of something. In the meantime, he took a short nap.

It was weird. The rain clouds, the humidity, the environment, everything looked perfect for the rain to start to fall. However, there was no sign of that happening. Come to think of it. Jake didn't find any signs of dust around either. Even though the wind was moving. That was suspended to mean that someone or something cleaned the machines, but the wolves didn't find signs of those in a wide area.

After looking around for a while, Jake noticed that the electric currents were always moving in the same direction. That was a clue… but it wasn't a good sign. He decided to follow that direction with his wolves, and eventually, he had the great idea of touching one of those machines.

As one would expect, Jake was electrocuted. Not to the point that he lost control over his body, but to the point that it made him lose one hundred points of health per second. He looked at his trembling hands and then nodded.
