The depths of the dark pit trembled with violence as Noah watched his spell get shattered and the system notified him of that reality.
Erolia remained closer to him, even going on to hold onto his attire. Noah was the only one that could ensure safety in that situation and he still did not seem to fret.
"Interesting," Noah commented when a beastly roar erupted from below them to send powerful vibrations shaking the entirety of the pit. The noise could be heard from even the top and bottom of that deep pit, but only those at the heart of the event could feel that heavy presence at its peak.
Were Noah not who he was, he suspected that his skin would have crawled out of terror.
Before the mighty roar could even end, a dark form appeared before the duo and the shape of a genuine serpentine head the size of buildings, unfolded in their eyes.
One would wonder how the two could even make out the shape of the dark serpentine head in that dark environment. But that would be none other than because the serpent appeared even darker than the environment, so much so that they could make out its shape.
The serpentine head remained before them and a growl came out of it to shake the two figures.
"It's strong," Noah commented, struggling to see in that environment.
"We wish to pass… peacefully!" He announced with a loud voice, but even that darkness was capable of affecting his voice. It reached the monster anyway, but just as he expected, it wasn't intelligent enough to articulate a reply.
At least a non-violent reply. The moment Noah's words unfolded into the world the monster voiced another roar before circling their figure with growing hostility.
"I think it's about to attack," Erolia commented, eyeing the moving serpent, and she wasn't wrong since mere seconds after that point, a series of sharp-edged beams of blackness manifested out of the darkness around to shoot towards the duo.
Noah shook his head at those attacks. They stood at the very peak of the fourth tier, but he could easily dodge them, which he did by simply sprinting about. Unfortunately, he found out that even his movement speed could be hindered by that environment.
That place was the domain of the darkness monster, he expected as much. It remained annoying, however. At least to Erolia who could feel annoyance.
Noah shot downwards, heading for the bottom of the pit and so did Erolia, he let her fend for herself in that environment.
The goal of that expedition was to reach the bottom of the pit, they didn't necessarily have to defeat the monster.
The elemental creature saw this and acted to stop them from escaping.
Despite the power Noah possessed, his instincts still struggled to grapple with certain information in that environment, so when a wall of darkness appeared before his speeding figure, Noah could not help but crash into it with the same force he had been flying with.
The impact with that solid mass of darkness shook the entire pit, thankfully he had not crashed head-first into the wall, his instincts had been able to alert him at the last moment, allowing him to cross his arms before his face.
He remained mostly unhurt, and before long he formed a fist to deliver a mighty punch at the wall.
The whole place shook, and the wall shattered only to reveal the formation of several walls manifesting from far below till one appeared before him again.
Noah furrowed his brows, stretching his arm forward toward the layers of walls Those walls spanned the width of the pit. Massive.
Noah's essence moved to follow his command and it came out as a beam of silver light.
But once again, the blackness around encroached on his light, and like the first time snuffed the manifestation out.
"This is wrong," Noah announced. "Speed essence should never lose to mana," his voice thundered as his aura unfolded into the environment.
The darkness tried to suppress him but Noah would not be having that. His eyes blazed with silver lights and his aura unfolded into the pit, but this time the darkness could not encroach on his silver aura.
"Only light has the authority to eradicate darkness. You are an anomaly," his words were sharp and even Erolia felt her consciousness waver. The event stunned the monster who found its form almost shattering.
Noah raised his right hand, allowing his understanding of the light element to pour out with full intensity.
A mass of searing silver light swirled above his palm and once again the darkness tried to snuff out his light, but the speed essence that bubbled in his core grew violent.
Noah felt the pride of that essence rush through his being, disregarding the spell that made him cold and calculative.
A battle of both forces ensued at that point and Noah felt himself begin to gain ground. Another roar unfolded into the pit at that event, and giant dark serpentine figures manifested from the blackness around to fly towards the duo.
Erolia saw this and flew before her master, ready to act as a shield against those manifestations of darkness.
Noah had to focus on winning the battle between light and darkness. Thankfully his growing presence allowed her to utilize her power without facing the limitations of the darkness.
Golden sparks flowed out of Erolia's opened palms as she prepared to fend off the 20 serpentine monsters while the real one kept a safe distance. For now at least.
"Wait!" Noah called out from behind Erolia and she turned to see that motes of silver light now existed around his tall figure, their light shining like the purest of lights due to the pitch darkness around. But also due to the fact that his understanding of light was at its peak, and they were that manifestation.
That scene would remain etched in her mind for the rest of her life.
"Noah?…" Erolia furrowed her brows in worry, finding that interruption too crucial.
"Sorry… but I will take this win," Noah announced, stepping forward. Lowering his arm, he placed the small orb of pure silver light between both his palms.
Noah watched Erolia step behind him and he let the swirling mass flow forward quite slowly compared to the speeding serpents.
Nevertheless, the moment those serpents arrived a certain range close to the orb, their masses exploded into waves of shining blue mana.
Those masses of mana swirled around the mass of silver light only to add to its power and radiant intensity.
"Master, what is that?" Erolia inquired, amazed.
"Like I mentioned earlier… an item that stores mana." He explained. "We should get going, things are about to get rough. We can't exactly beat this thing. I'd have to possess tier-five light for that." He announced, watching the very darkness around them shatter to revert into mana and float toward and into the silver sphere.
The serpent roared again, unleashing more giant serpentine creatures, but they met the same fate.
Noah grabbed onto Erolia, pointing his palm toward the walls below. He moved his essence once again to unleash a beam of silver light, one that shattered the walls of darkness to unfold into a wave of spectacular light.
This event disturbed the order that had been set by the presence of the dark serpent, so it moved to unleash its anger on that light.
Unfortunately, before Noah left he unleashed radiant judgment further messing up the place with his silver light powered by his weird essence.
The area never stopped trembling even as Noah and Erolia dug through the heavy darkness, but he had won against the blackness and could allow his light to unfold in the environment.
Unfortunately, due to the special nature of the darkness he had to make his light act as misty waves that fought and destroyed the heavy darkness.
A blood-curling roar eventually unfolded from high above them and Noah realized that his orb had been destroyed and the darkness was regaining its power. Rapidly at that.
He did not fret, however. After all, they had arrived at the bottom of the pit and all he needed to do was step outside of it.
The moment they stepped out of the pit of darkness, a fantastical underground expanse adorned with all sorts of shining crystals and stones, appeared in their eyes.
