"See how you were just wasting your time. Had it been you went straight to the point from the beginning, you would have long been licking your fingers after having a bite from the sweets," Lady Chen said before giving one of the sweets to him.
Chen K happily took it from her and gobbles it down his throat.
After relishing the delicious taste of the sweet in his mouth, he gave Lady Chen a thumbs up.
"Ju Ju, you are indeed a good chef, and am sure our daughter would love this."
"Thank you, and that's why we have to hurry up now that the sweets are still hot," Lady Chen said while packaging the sweets in a flask.
As for Chen Lihua whom they had been doing all these for, she just woke up from sleep only to hear familiar music, playing on the CMS (Central music system). An Indian song was playing.
"Where did Longwei get this from?" Chen Lihua asked herself as her heart lightened up in happiness.
Just then, Liu Longwei came into the bedroom to see his wife sitting up on the bed and smiling to herself.
"You seem happy," Liu Longwei said just as he went to sit beside her on the bed.
"Where did you get this song from?" Chen Lihua asked in a smile.
This was the least she expected Liu Longwei to do, downloading an Indian song for her.
"I just browsed about Indian songs on the Internet, and randomly downloaded one, do you like it?" Liu Longwei asked in a smile.
"Of course I like it, thank you," Chen Lihua replied as she hugged him to express her feelings.
"So, are you okay now?" Liu Longwei asked as he returned the hug.
Chen Lihua sighed before humming.
"But am still angry with my parents," She said.
"Don't worry, with time, you will forgive them," Liu Longwei said while staring at her face.
Chen Lihua released him from her embrace after she sighed again.
Liu Longwei said, while patting her head, "I love you."
"I love you too," Chen Lihua replied cheerfully.
Liu Longwei pecked her lips happily and then had to pick up his phone because it began to ring.
After listening for a few seconds, he put his phone back into his trouser pocket and said to Chen Lihua.
"Your parents are here to...see you," Liu Longwei announced hesitantly, and immediately the smile on Chen Lihua's face disappeared.
"I will not see them," Chen Lihua declared as she immediately laid back on the bed, and used the duvet to cover her body.
Liu Longwei sighed. "I will go and check upon them," He said before leaving the room.
Immediately he left, Chen Lihua sat back on the bed and started sulking.
Downstairs, Liu Longwei greeted Lady Chen and Chen K with a polite smile.
Since he was not that familiar with Chen K, his father-in-law, their conversation had a little restraint to it but was not awkward.
"Where is Lihua?" Lady Chen asked when she waited for a few seconds, after not seeing her daughter following behind her son-in-law.
Seeing the awkward look at Liu Longwei''s face, Lady Chen smiled and asked, not making things different for him.
"She refused to meet us?"
Liu Longwei nodded.
"That's fine. Please pass this flask to her. We made an Indian sweet for her," Lady Chen said while passing the packaged flask to Liu Longwei who accepted it with both hands.
After keeping the flask on a stool beside him, Lady Chen spoke up.
"I know I haven't formally introduced you to Lihua's father. This is my husband, and Lihua's father, whom we thought was dead for the past five years but came back alive after so many years."
Liu Longwei greeted and shook hands with Chen K, while the latter assessed him with his eyes.
"Stop staring at him like that. He is already married to our daughter, and you were present at the wedding. Longwei here is my good friend's son, and after examining him, I hooked him up with our daughter. So whatever you are doing now has no meaning," Lady Chen said whilst rolling her eyes at her husband.
Chen K coughed awkwardly as he shifted uncomfortably on the seat.
'What is wrong with this woman, did she have to rat me out like that?' Chen K asked himself
Liu Longwei smiled while reserving his comment.
"Darling, what are you doing? You've been out for so long, and I've been waiting for you."
The three heads turned towards the direction they heard the familiar voice of Chen Lihua from, but they didn't see a single soul in sight, even after waiting for a few seconds.
The excited looks on Lady Chen and Chen K's face disappeared as they found out that their daughter wasn't coming out to meet them.
"I will be there soon," Liu Longwei replied into the distance, before turning to look at Chen Lihua's parents with an awkward smile on his face.
Chen Lihua really knew how to put him in an awkward situation.
She purposely stayed hidden while talking to him.
It was very obvious that she wanted her parents to know that she wasn't interested and willing to see them. She needed to do that just in case Liu Longwei didn't make her intentions known to them clearly.
"I think we should be on our way," Lady Chen announced, smiling while dragging her frowning husband up on the arm.
"Tell her that we love her, and sincerely ask for her forgiveness," Lady Chen said to Liu Longwei before sitting in the car.
"Take care of my daughter," Chen K said with a serious look.
Liu Longwei nodded obediently and entered back into the house after bidding them farewell.
Just as he looked forward, he saw Chen Lihua standing in front of the entrance of their house.
Lady Chen and Chen K saw Chen Lihua as well when their car started driving off.
"Should we stop to see her?" Chen K asked his wife with his eyes still looking behind.
