"What?! Are you out of your mind?" the deputy chief asked while staring daggers at Chen Lihua.
'Not to partake in the surgery? Humph! What a joke!'
"You are right! I am out of my mind," Chen Lihua said as she still held onto his arm.
Seeing that she was not letting go, the deputy chief became angry but tried to defend himself.
"It's not like I crushed your glasses on purpose. And it even fell to the floor because of your carelessness. I didn't snatch it from you, did I? But I already apologized to you, what more do you want from me?"
"Your actions were done on purpose, and your apology was not even sincere," Chen Lihua said to him before turning to say to the Chief, who was thinking of a way to settle the issue.
"Chief, you have to hurry up and commence with the surgery after finding replacements. The deputy chief and I will not be available."
"Dr. Chen, you have to let go of me this minute. Are you out of your mind?!" the deputy Chief roared in anger, no longer finding the situation he was in any funny.
"Dr. Chen, let him go first. You two can talk amicably without violence," the Chief said, trying to meditate.
At his words, and because of the respect she had for him, she let go of the deputy chief, but stood in his way.
"Chief, since the deputy chief and I will not partake in this surgery, then I think you should hurry up and go. And please, I need the CCTV footage of the meeting that took place here. I want to confirm if the deputy chief stepped on my glasses on purpose. If he didn't do that on purpose, then I will apologize and bear the consequences. But if he did, I will take action against him. How do you see that?"
"That's okay," the Chief agreed with what she said.
"Nonsense! How will you take responsibility? I have to be in the OR this minute!" the deputy chief barked, as green veins were seen popped up on his temples.
"You don't have a say or a choice," Chen Lihua said to him.
"Chief, do you agree with her?" the deputy chief asked in disbelief.
'How can the Chief listen to whatever this girl says?' he thought to himself.
"Yes. Am sorry, but you cannot perform the surgery now. But note that disciplinary measures and actions will be taken against you if found guilty," the Chief reminded before walking out.
"Dr. Chen, you will be able to view the CCTV footage in five minutes," the Chief's voice trailed off.
Chen Lihua was happy for having her way, but she couldn't bring herself to smile.
She has been preparing for this surgery for weeks now, so how can she be happy with not being able to partake in the surgery she has been looking up to?
And as for the deputy chief, she swore to deal with him.
Chen Lihua glanced at the deputy chief before saying to him.
"You think you can stop me and take my place after that? That can only happen in your dreams!"
Chen Lihua said her piece and stalked off, going back to her office.
"Even in my dreams, you didn't let me go," the deputy chief muttered to himself bitterly as he remembered his dream.
He regretted the actions he took today. He thought he had succeeded in pushing Chen Lihua away, and then would be able to take her place after that. But who knew that Chen Lihua was such a fierce woman and wouldn't let him go no matter what.
She even dragged him down with her.
He took a foolish step.
At least now he had learned his lessons.
Next time, He wouldn't take action against her herself. He would instead borrow someone's hands or pay someone off to get the job done.
The deputy chief sighed before going back to his off while giving off a moody and angry vibe.
As for the other surgeons watching the drama unfold, they immediately left with the Chief for the surgery.
Getting back to his office, the deputy chief swore to make Chen Lihua's life miserable.
After all, he was her superior, so he had the power and authority to make certain decisions that would be to her disadvantage.
He calmed down a lot with these thoughts and started to plan on his next course of action.
He was indeed guilty of what happened.
Though he didn't orchestrate what happened in the office. He only thought to take the opportunity and stop Chen Lihua from performing the surgery when he saw one. But then, it got him into trouble.
His initial plan was to cause an accident in the OR, something like slitting Chen Lihua's hand with the knife.
That injury would have been enough to send her out of the OR, midway.
So, he thought things through and carefully. But who knew that his plans would be shattered by himself, and as if that wasn't enough, he landed himself in big trouble.
If he knew Chen Lihua would be this fierce, he wouldn't have taken actions personally, since he wasn't on good terms with Chen Lihua, and the latter would never trust him.
Now his actions today would cause Chen Lihua to be wary of him.
He decided to stop crying over spilled milk and find possible solutions to how Chen Lihua was going to deal with him.
As for Chen Lihua, her heart was so embittered and restless.
She never pictured that something like this would happen to her. At this point, she felt like crying to Liu Longwei and complaining to him of how she was being bullied at the hospital.
She was sure that her husband would surely deal with the deputy chief, and it may cost him his position as the deputy chief.
But she didn't want to involve Liu Longwei, because it would look like Liu Longwei was her backbone, and she couldn't get things done without him.
The last thing she wants to happen to her in this hospital is to be looked down upon by them.
She didn't want to appear like a woman who wasn't capable and always relied on her husband.
Well, she was capable on her own, so why would she stress her husband if she could handle certain matters herself?
