CH 37

Clang …… Clang ……

(T/N: Sound of the bell, I guess)

“Stand, bow!”

“Uuuoooooooooooo!”

“Hotttttt doggggggg!”

Makina, Jack, and Ryuuze rush out in search of lunch in another cheerful dash today.

“Here we are, Lars, Nora.”

“Oh, brother.”

“I’m here too!”

“Let’s get some food.”

“Do you mind if I join you?”

“No, not at all, Urka-kun. I’ll borrow this.”

“Okay, I’m going to the garden.”

I saw Urka leave the class with his usual troubled smile and waves his hand, and we sat together to spread out our lunch. Luciela is not coming today, so it’s a peaceful lunch —

“It’s here! I came late because I bought some Dangerous Hot Dogs.”

— is what I thought, but it wasn’t true. Well, I guess that’s what you get for having a little sister.

“Sister, where’s your lunch?”

“I ate it at the end of second period, though?”

“Ehhhh …… You’ll get fat, you know?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll work out for it. After lunch, we have exercise class.”

The exercise class is what they call physical education. I think it’s hard to exercise after eating, but her sister doesn’t seem to have that problem. As I was doing this, another girl who looked like her came.

“Fuh, I only had the spicy one today ……”

“I, I only had the sweet one ……”

“Damn ittttt …… Jack, share with me …… I don’t want to be the only one with walnut bread ……”

Apparently, only Ryuuze lost. I mean, for a guy who’s rich, he only got bread yesterday and today. When I was thinking this, Jack seemed to feel the same way and said while taking a bite of bread.

“Ryuuze always says he’s the son of a lord, right. But why is he eating bread for lunch? I thought he was going to bring a fancy lunch or something.”

“That’s true. Most noblemen bring their own lunch or eat in the school cafeteria, so it’s unusual.”

Then Ryuuze said with a disappointed expression as he putting a piece of walnut bread into his mouth.

“Oh, Shut up! I’m not like you guys …… Ah, no, it’s nothing …… I have my reasons ……”

“?”

“?”

He muttered to himself and finished his lonely lunch of a piece of walnut bread and milk. I thought he was about to say something, but then I turned my attention back to the conversation we were having.

And then, in the afternoon.

During the lunch break, and onwards, I often felt Ryuuze’s eyes on me.

I had conversations with Nora, Luciel, and occasionally the nearby Urka and Helena, and I was slowly starting to have more opportunity to talk to my classmates, but Ryuuze, while he talked to Jack a lot, didn’t seem to be as involved with the other classmates.

It’s only the second day, so I guess that’s how it is. I’m a little concerned that he’s not poking at me, but, well, I feel better about it because I don’t want to be rattled as a “pauper”.

It looks like they had a home visit, though I’m curious to know what the teacher said to Ryuuze.

Today’s second day ended without any trouble from Ryuuze, and it was after school. As I was stretching, Luciel called out to me.

“Are you going to the guild again today?”

“Yes, I am. It’s become a habit for me, and since I couldn’t go to the grandma’s house yesterday because I was talking to the guild master, so I thought I’d go.”

“What!?”

“I-Is that true?”

“Whoa!? You startled me!?”

I was also surprised when Kuderica came out from behind the surprised Luciel. Kudelica giggles as Nora giggles, and Urka, who was apparently listening by her side, opens her mouth with excitement.

“You won’t often get the chance to talk with the guild masters, you know!? You might have greeted each other, but did you really have a talk with him!?”

“Y-Yeah, my dad says he’s always busy ……”

“Oh, no, he said he knew Dad from way back and wanted to meet him ……”

“From way back!? I’m jealous …… He is a strong man who destroyed a band of thieves by himself.”

Urka mutters with a longing look. It seems that Urla is longing for a strong man. In the meantime, my brother and Luciela come to class.

“Shall we go home, Nora?”

“Oh, Dedite-kun, alright.”

“Today is the day we go to the guild!”

For some reason, Luciela grabbed my hand and said that with great enthusiasm. But you’re looking at my brother ……? I let out a sigh and tell her what I was going to say to her the next time she asked. 

“…… You can follow me, but I won’t be responsible for you once you’re inside the guild, okay? There are some pretty scary people, and Luciela is a girl.”

“Uu ……”

Luciela moaned then. As a girl, she’s a little intimidated by the word “scary”.

“That’s right, Sister. Lars, you’ll also be troubled, so let’s not.”

“Look, Luciel also said this, so you should be obedient and help out at home.”

“Boo ……”

She puffed out her cheeks in an understandable way, but seemed to have given up and let go of my hand. But then, I’m grabbed in the hand from the other direction.

“U-Um, I might want you to take me with you! I’m want to be an adventurer in the future, so I want to go to the guild!”

To my surprise, it was Kudelica who said that.

“What!? L-Like I said, there are scary people there.”

“Don’t worry! I’m going to the guild someday, so it’s still the same!”

I’m impressed with the fact that, unlike Luciela, she has a surprisingly strong spirit …… I tell Kudelica to check one more time. 

“I will really not take responsible, okay? If you’re going to go, it would be better if you asked your father or someone for permission.”

“Is that okay if I do? Then I’ll go!”

“Yeah, I’ll be there first!”

Kudelica ran out of the class with quicker movements than yesterday’s physical fitness test. I chuckled to myself, wondering if she wanted to go that far.

“Me too …….”

“Hmm?”

“I’m going too …… If Kuu-chan’s going, then I’m going too!”

“What!? Luciel will!?”

The way she nodded her head with a serious face was cute. Then Luciela folded her arms and tapped me on the shoulder.

“I’ll have to go with you too then! I can’t just let my sister go to a dangerous place!”

“So you will come too ……”

Luciela was happy that she had an excuse, but her legs were trembling because of the scary person I had just declared. Then the brother said with a smile.

“I’ll go with you then. I’ve always wanted to see Lars at work.”

“I’m coming too!”

“Yeah, …… well, I’m sure you guys won’t interfere.”

“Are you saying I’m going to get in your way!?”

” ” “Yes.” ” “

I, my brother, and Luciel said together, and Luciela made a frustrated sound as she asked for permission and ran out of the class.

“So, let’s go ahead …… Gibson-san would be surprised.”

“I’ve got some business to attend to, so take me with you next time! See you later.”

Then Urka went home and saw that everyone except Ryuuze had disappeared from the class. 

“……”

“…… Let’s go then, guys.”

I noticed Ryuuze looking at me with his leaning his cheeks in his hands, but I pretended not to notice and left the class with my brother and the others.　

Next time: A quarrel at the guild?
