CH 248

“Big sister, Tre-chan ……”

“There’s so much goblin ……!? Chelle-chan, stay in the cave!”

“O-Okay.”

The goblins surrounded us, fanning out and making a racket with words we couldn’t understand.

I muttered to myself, “Setting aside where they came from, It’s not often that I see this many”. Still, I don’t feel threatened.

“What do we do now, Lars?”

“I can take the two of you with Levitation, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave them like this, so I’m thinking of exterminating them. I’ll wipe them out with my magic, so you stay close to Chelle.”

“Ok! I wanted to join you, but I think Lars would be better with this number.”

It’s a little disappointing, but the goal is to rescue Chelle, so let’s leave the training for another time.

“Now then.”

I hold the Sargeblade in my right hand and take a step forward, my left hand over the goblins. At the same time, the goblins seemed to sense something, and all at once, they raised their weapons and entered a battle stance.

“Let’s go! !”

“Gyaaaaaah!?”

With a bang, two goblins turned charred, and several of them cowered. I glided up to them and cleaved the body of one more.

“I’m here! Come at me! !”

“Gugyagagah!”

Maybe they’re angry because their friends were killed, but they became eager to take me down first, and surrounded me. Now, they won’t be going to Makina and the others, so I’ve accomplished one of our goals. 

I should use Earthblade and Fire Arrow to crush them without fail. When I thought about that–

“W-What the hell!? A group of goblins!?”

“Bingo! That’s Lars! And there’s Makina and a little girl is behind them too!”

“That’s enough chitchatting, we’re going to help them!”

“Oh! Basleigh-sensei!? Why are you here!?”

To my surprise, Basleigh-sensei, Roy, and the other adventurers appeared in the opposite direction of the cave! In spite of my surprise, Basleigh-sensei smiles fearlessly.

“Where there’s a case, there’s Basleigh! I just happened to see you at the castle–“

“I told you I don’t want to hear about it!? That number is bad, let’s go!”

“Oh, let me finish!”

It seems that the number of goblins cannot be ignored after all, and the adventurers, led by Roy and Doun, head towards the goblins. They’re a reassuring ally, but I don’t want to inflict any unnecessary damage on them, so I immediately unleash a wide range of magic.

“Don’t worry Roy, I’ll wipe them out with my magic! If any of them get lost or try to escape, take them down!”

“No, you can’t take on this many on your own–“

Before Roy could finish, I activated my magic to do what I had been thinking of doing.

“!”

A torrent of water shoots out from my hand and engulfs the goblins. I can also do magic manipulation now, so it’s not only possible to make the torrent flow, but also to control it. As the goblins were engulfed one by one, and I threw them up into the sky for the last time.

If it’s up in the air, there’s no damage to the forest. I can use aqua bullets, fireballs, or swords, but if I want to save time, this is the best way. Just as I aimed, a lump of magic in the shape of a dragon came from me and wiped out the goblins. 

“W-What the hell is that magic ……”

“I’ve never seen that before. ……”

“Hyuuu! As expected of Lars! Your ability to toe-to-toe with Tigre-sensei, who was called the “war demon” is not for show, huh.”

“Huh!?”

Basleigh-sensei walked past the stunned adventurers applauding and walked right up to me.

“You don’t have to say that, do you?”

“No, no, no, I was still astonished to know the Lars-kun of that time, after all. More importantly, the girl Makina-chan is carrying is definitely Chelle-chan, right?”

I nodded as Basleigh-sensei looked behind me as if peeking in when she asked me. Just then, Makina and the others came close by.

“That was brilliant, I never thought you’d use the Hydro Stream like that.”

“It was improvised, but I’m glad I was able to make it work the way I imagined it. I figured since Roy and the others were there, they’d be able to follow up if I missed something.”

“No, you could have done something even without us …… I thought you were strong when we fought in the training ground, but you were still holding back, huh ……”

“Well, that’s how it is, I guess …… I’m sorry if I hurt your pride, but that wasn’t my best.”

“If you’re on the same level as that war demon, then my pride doesn’t matter …… No, next time I’ll have you give it your all?”

“We’ll get there, but first we have to get Chelle home.”

When I said that, Chelle stepped forward and bowed to Roy and the others.

“U-Um, I’m sorry! I went out on my own …… I would have died if it weren’t for Lars-oniichan and the others.”

“Well, I’m glad you’re okay. At any rate, you’ve caused your mother and father a lot of worry, so you should be scolded well. I didn’t do anything, though!”

“Y-Yes ……”

“Ouch!”

“Ouch!? What the hell!?”

While Basleigh-sensei was laughing and stroking Chelle’s head, the mini-treant threatened to hit Basleigh-sensei’s leg and swing a branch at her.

“What’s with the little thing?”

“It looks like a Treant, teacher. She originally came to the forest because her mother told her to abandon him. He’s small, but he protected Chelle-chan until we came.”

“Oh, …… Treant, huh? It’s small, though. Ouch!?”

The mini-treant, perhaps angry at being called small, attacked Basleigh-sensei again.

However, since there was not much damage, Basleigh-sensei lifted the mini-treant, looked at it, and opened her mouth.

“!!”

“He’s quite a lively fellow! I don’t mind kids like him. But a Treant’s a bit too good timing, isn’t it ……?”

“What do you mean?”

“Think of the commotion from Oriola Territory. If these mini-treant grows up and attacks the town …… if such a thing happens, we’ll be in big trouble.”

“Don’t worry! I’ll make sure he listens to me!”

“Hmm, but it’s a monster, isn’t it ……?”

At Chelle’s call, Basleigh-sensei looked at her with a reluctant expression. I think the minister would find this unacceptable.

Considering the fact that she was going to return it to the forest, it’s probably best to just leave it there …… but I retrieved the mini-treant as soon as I can. 

“Do you want to come with me?”

When I said that, the mini-treant’s head flowered and he bowed to me.

“Ahaha, looks like he wants to come.”

When Makina laughed, Roy and the others, who had been watching us in amazement, came to their senses and opened their mouths. 

“N-Now that we’ve found the girl, let’s get back quickly! I want to show her parents that she’s okay.”

“Yes, that’s true. It would be troublesome if the goblins appeared again.”

“Well, I’ll give Chelle-chan a piggyback ride.”

“Wow, thank you, Big Sister!”

“Well, but she’s glad you’re okay.”

“Yeah, at any rate, the goblin population is just horrible ……”

“It would have been messy if we’d had to take them on.”

The good news is that the adventurers hurried up and are on the lookout for monsters, and we went to the town while talking.

But Chelle’s mother probably wouldn’t approve if we brought this guy back. Even though he was helping Chelle, she had brought this situation on herself by trying to send him back to the forest. What should we do?
