Chapter 46 - Three Beauties
From Xiao Laoshi's attire, one could easily deduce that his family wasn't well-off.
The meal would set them back at least three hundred yuan. While such an amount was trivial to Ye Hao, it could be a significant burden for Xiao Laoshi.
The owner cheerfully accepted Ye Hao's bank card.
“Ye Hao, let me cover my share,” Yuan Gaoxing said, reaching for his wallet to pull out a hundred yuan.
Ye Hao smiled and shook his head, “It's my treat today.”
Upon hearing this, Yuan Gaoxing didn't press the matter any further.
Ye Hao took the check and signed his name. At that moment, Zheng Xiaolong approached and asked, “Should we buy some communal items for our dorm?”
“What kind of communal items?” inquired Xiao Laoshi.
Zheng Xiaolong listed, “Things like shampoo and toilet paper.”
“Since everyone has different preferences, we should probably stick to using our own personal care products,” Yuan Gaoxing suggested, dismissing Zheng Xiaolong's idea.
“We'll each use our own products,” Ye Hao concurred with Yuan Gaoxing's opinion.
Through the recent exchange, Ye Hao recognized Yuan Gaoxing as a man of principle who also preferred splitting costs with others.
This habit wasn't inherently negative, but it didn't necessarily foster a closer bond with his roommates.
Xiao Laoshi was indeed very honest, and perhaps due to his family's financial constraints, he was cautious with his spending. Once Ye Hao offered to pay, Xiao Laoshi didn't protest further.
Zheng Xiaolong, on the other hand, was the type to seek small advantages. Ye Hao always kept a balanced stance towards such behavior, understanding that it wasn't grounds to sever a friendship.
When Ye Hao and his three companions entered the classroom, they found that most of their classmates had already gathered.
The arrival of the four guys was met with visible disappointment from the others.
“More guys.”
“Don't we have any beauties in our class?”
“Our class has forty-five students, and forty-one have shown up.”
“Aren't the two girls who are already here pretty enough?”
“They're more attractive than the average person, but not stunning.”
Yuan Gaoxing looked surprised. “Is your girlfriend one of our classmates?”
“No, she's currently a senior in high school,” Ye Hao explained, his thoughts drifting to Lee Qianqian's image.
Though they hadn't confessed their feelings, they both understood the other's affections.
Yuan Gaoxing pondered for a moment before saying, “Your relationship with your girlfriend doesn't seem very stable. Maybe you should consider finding someone at college.”
“I agree,” chimed in Zheng Xiaolong. “Ye Hao, you should really consider pursuing Zhang Lan. Haven't you noticed how she's caught everyone's attention?”
Ye Hao disagreed with their suggestions.
Shortly after, a woman dressed in professional teacher's attire entered the classroom.
The students gasped in surprise once more.
She was every bit as striking as Zhang Lan, with an added air of maturity that made her quite alluring.
“Hello, everyone. I am your counselor, Leng Xue,” she introduced herself while writing her name on the blackboard.
Then, Leng Xue wrote her phone number below her name.
“Here's my number. Feel free to jot it down.”
The students eagerly pulled out their phones to save Leng Xue's contact information.
“I know you're all still getting to know each other, so let's start with some introductions,” Leng Xue suggested, pulling out a roster.
The first name on the list was Ye Hao.
Ye Hao had scored 900 on the SAT.
Leng Xue's eyes held a hint of regret as she read the name.
Not only was Ye Hao the top of their class, but he was also the highest-ranked applicant for Riverdale College.
“Ye Hao, please introduce yourself,” Leng Xue invited gently.
Ye Hao rose and approached the podium, all eyes in the room fixed on him.
Zhang Lan, who had been engrossed in her phone, looked up to see Ye Hao and an incredulous expression crossed her face.
“Ye Hao.”
Zhang Lan's sudden call of Ye Hao's name caught many of their classmates off guard.
With a puzzled expression, Ye Hao turned to Zhang Lan and asked, “Do you know me?”
