Chapter 91 - Lin Rou'er Was Attacked
Ye Hao certainly hadn't blocked Lan Qingqing's number.
Lan Qingqing was unable to get through to Ye Hao because he was on the phone with Zhou Shuai.
After high school, Zhou Shuai attended an ordinary university in Glento.
“Let's meet tomorrow then.” Having set the time, Zhou Shuai couldn't resist teasing, “This is the third time I've asked you out. If you flake on me again, don't be surprised if I get upset.”
“I should be there.” Ye Hao responded with a smile.
“So, do you have a girlfriend yet?” Zhou Shuai inquired, just as Tang Pianpian called out, “Ye Hao, dinner's ready.”
“Ye Hao, are you two cohabitating?” Zhou Shuai asked, astonished.
“Why do you ask so many questions?”
“How about bringing your girlfriend along tomorrow so I can meet her?”
“We'll see,” Ye Hao replied, not in the mood to continue the conversation.
Exiting the bedroom, Ye Hao had barely started his meal when May called.
He asked May to hold on for a bit and continued eating with Tang Pianpian before stepping out. Finnd new chapters at novelhall.com
Lin Rou'er was safe in a sanatorium, so there was no urgent need for Ye Hao to visit her.
Tang Pianpian had spent an hour preparing a feast. Ye Hao knew she would be heartbroken if he left after just a few bites.
The assault had occurred two days prior.
Twenty hitmen had brazenly invaded Lin Rou'er's home.
Had it not been for two nearby armed police squads on patrol, Lin Rou'er might not have made it.
The brutal attack resulted in eight bodyguards killed, six critically injured, and two with minor injuries. Lin Rou'er's personal bodyguard, Xiaolan, was also gravely wounded.
“Xiaolan still hasn't come to.”
“How's Rou'er doing?”
“She took a bullet to the abdomen and is currently recuperating.”
In the ICU, Lin Rou'er lay with a ghostly pallor, her face occasionally contorted in pain. Ye Hao's presence didn't stir her from her semi-conscious state.
Resting two fingers on Lin Rou'er's arm, Ye Hao channeled a stream of vital spirit through her body, easing the pain etched on her face.
May's eyes widened with disbelief.
After a moment, Lin Rou'er stirred and opened her eyes. She paused, surprised to see Ye Hao by her side.
“How are you feeling?” Ye Hao inquired gently.
“There's a sensation of gentle energy within me.”
“I graduated from Cypress Institute,” Xu Gan had initially assumed Ye Hao had significant connections, only to learn he was merely a Riverdale College student.
Our sanatorium already has two Riverdale College students.
Frankly, Riverdale students really aren't in a position to flaunt any superiority in front of those from Cypress Institute, which is among the top six elite institutions in the country.
”I mentioned I'm from Riverdale College to convey that I have a method to save this patient.”
“And I mentioned I'm from Cypress Institute to assure you there's no need to question my medical expertise.”
“So you're saying there's no room for negotiation.”
“I'm afraid it's beyond my capabilities.”
“Prepare Xiaolan's discharge papers,” Ye Hao said after a moment's thought, turning to May.
“Are you certain?”
“Do you honestly think I'd gamble with Xiaolan's life?” Ye Hao replied, his displeasure evident.
“I'll handle Xiaolan's discharge right away,” May responded quickly.
Ye Hao had become quite close to Lin Rou'er, and naturally, May was inclined to heed his request.
“Hold on,” Xu Gan interjected, clearly agitated upon hearing May was proceeding with Xiaolan's discharge.
“What's the matter?” Ye Hao inquired coolly.
“If you discharge Xiaolan now, all our efforts up to this point will have been for nothing,” Xu Gan said with urgency.
“Can you honestly tell me what Xiaolan's chances of recovery are?” Ye Hao pressed, fixing his gaze on Xu Gan.
Xu Gan opened his mouth but seemed at a loss for words.
He couldn't very well admit that Xiaolan's chances were virtually nonexistent, could he?
“If you're unable to help, why not let me have a try?” Ye Hao spoke firmly.
“Change his clothes,” Xu Gan said after a moment of contemplation.
Anyone wishing to enter the ICU must undergo professional disinfection to prevent the risk of infecting patients with harmful pathogens.
Once Ye Hao had donned the sterilized garments, he joined Xu Gan and May in Xiaolan's hospital room.
Xiaolan remained in a deep coma, showing no signs of awakening.
“Do you believe I can wake her up within ten breaths?” Ye Hao's gaze settled on Xu Gan.
“Impossible,” Xu Gan responded without a trace of doubt.
“And if I manage to do it, what then?”
Xu Gan was at a loss for words momentarily.
With a smile, Ye Hao placed two fingers on Xiaolan's wrist.
