Chapter 145 - Kill

The driver was completely taken aback by the scene before him.

It appeared that this unassuming fellow had quite the significant background.

“Just drive,” Ye Hao said coolly, noticing the driver's urge to ask questions.

The driver, not daring to speak further, headed towards the crematorium.

About half an hour later, they arrived at the entrance of the crematorium.

“Why haven't you left?” Ye Hao asked, fixing his gaze on the male ghost.

To Ye Hao's surprise, the male ghost gave him a scornful look. In an instant, the ghost vanished into the sedan.

Simultaneously, eerie sounds began to echo around the vehicle.

The middle-aged driver, upon witnessing the surrounding scene, passed out.

This was because numerous ghostly figures had materialized near the car.

These apparitions stared menacingly at Ye Hao.

Ignoring the ghosts, Ye Hao's attention shifted to a woman in white standing in the distance.

“I didn't expect this was your doing,” Ye Hao remarked calmly.

“You seem unafraid,” said the woman, known as the Nine-Generations Cursed Maiden.

Xiao Ming had proven to be quite unreliable.

He had predicted that it would take the Nine-Generations Cursed Maiden at least a year to regain her strength.

Yet, in a surprisingly short time, she had not only restored her powers but had grown even stronger.

Despite Xiao Ming reaching the Blood Refining state, he stood no chance against her now.

Ye Hao, however, was unfazed, for he was in the Soul Refining state.

“Why should I be afraid?” he asked, his tone tinged with peculiarity.

The encircling ghosts displayed looks of panic and then vanished as quickly as they had appeared, visible to the naked eye.

The Nine-Generations Cursed Maiden clutched her ears and retreated hastily, her aura of resentment fading away. She looked at Ye Hao in utter disbelief.

“Do you really think you can escape today?” Ye Hao said, using his Divine Sense to bind the Nine-Generations Cursed Maiden.

“Divine Sense!” she exclaimed in alarm. “You've reached the Soul Refining Realm?”

With no hesitation, the Nine-Generations Cursed Maiden summoned her Fatewoven. As soon as it materialized, it charged at Ye Hao.

“Heavenly Thunder Spell.” As Ye Hao uttered the incantation, a bolt of Heavenly Thunder struck the Fatewoven.

“Are there more paranormal events happening?”

“Yes.”

“Do you need my assistance?”

At this, Xiao Ming suggested, “If you're looking for something to do at night, you could patrol the area. Did you know I spend all day investigating cases?”

“Hasn't your superior provided any backup?”

“Cultivators are few and far between. Besides, Ubliasia is so vast that even a multitude of cultivators wouldn't suffice,” Xiao Ming replied, his smile tinged with resignation.

“Fine. Pass on any unresolved cases to me.” Ye Hao was currently unoccupied.

“I'm at Desire Bar right now,” Xiao Ming informed him of his whereabouts.

Ye Hao hailed a taxi and headed straight for Desire Bar.

Upon entering, he was greeted by the relentless pulse of neon lights, the frenetic dance of the crowd, and the thunderous roar of rock music.

Ye Hao quickly spotted Xiao Ming.

But there he was, deep in conversation with a statuesque beauty.

“You've got something on your face,” Xiao Ming told the woman, his gaze fixed on her.

“What is it?” The woman quickly pulled out a mirror to check, but found nothing amiss.

“That's just my gaze lingering on you,” Xiao Ming confessed with a bashful grin.

Ye Hao couldn't help but cringe at the line.

Xiao Ming had always seemed so innocent, yet now he was unabashedly bold!

The woman laughed in response.

“Are you not going to offer me a drink?”

Xiao Ming could tell she was hooked.

As Xiao Ming was about to make his next move, Ye Hao took a seat next to the woman.

“May I offer you a drink instead?” Ye Hao asked, smiling.

“Can I choose anything?” she asked, her eyes twinkling with mirth.

“Absolutely.”

“Waiter, a bottle of 1982 Lafite, please,” she called out.

The waiter promptly arrived with a bottle of Lafite.

She said with a smile, “I'm going to open it now.”
