C169 – Blood of the Divine
“The entrance to this cavern is sealed with a restriction that can only be broken with blood,” Su Xiaoyu explained, her gaze settling on Ye Hao. “And not just any blood—it must be of a high caliber.”
“Senior, if you had sought me out sooner, I might have managed it. But the Divine Blood within me has already merged with my being,” Ye Hao replied with a wry smile.
Ye Hao was certain that all traces of divinity had vanished from his body.
“Do you really think your blood is still mundane after it’s been altered?” Su Xiaoyu asked, her smile hinting at a deeper knowledge.
Ye Hao was taken aback. Of course, his blood might not be ordinary at all.
“Come with me,” Su Xiaoyu instructed. As she spoke, a Divine Sense enveloped Ye Hao, fortifying him against the cavern’s oppressive aura.
At the entrance stood an ancient stone tablet.
“Place a drop of your blood on this,” Su Xiaoyu directed, pointing to the tablet.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Ye Hao drew his bronze dagger and sliced his skin. A radiant drop of blood quivered before falling onto the stone surface.
The tablet underwent a sudden transformation and began to writhe in an eerie fashion.
Su Xiaoyu’s eyes narrowed sharply.
“Young lady, to become an Earth Immortal at such a tender age is quite unexpected,” a voice said as the stone tablet morphed into a humanoid form.
“Rock spirit,” Su Xiaoyu acknowledged gravely.
The rock spirit gave a slight nod before turning its attention to Ye Hao. “To think that after a millennium, I would once again witness the bloodline of an immortal.”
“An immortal’s bloodline?” Su Xiaoyu exclaimed, taken aback.
“Is something amiss?” the rock spirit inquired, looking at Su Xiaoyu with a hint of surprise.
“Didn’t you mention that your constitution was transformed by a single drop of blood?” Su Xiaoyu asked, her voice heavy with implication.
“What?” It was now the rock spirit’s turn to be astonished.
“A long time ago, I encountered a powerful being who graced me with a drop of Divine Blood.”
“Divine Blood?” The rock spirit stared at Ye Hao, its expression a mix of awe and uncertainty. “If you were originally of mortal flesh, it seems to me that nothing short of Divine Blood could have induced such a metamorphosis into an Immortal Body.”
“Does Divine Blood truly exist?” Su Xiaoyu exclaimed, too astounded to find words.
“What’s the prize?”
“You’ll find out once you’ve defeated me. Are you prepared?” The spectral figure fixed its gaze on Ye Hao.
Taking a deep breath, Ye Hao responded, “I’m ready.”
The cultivator facing Ye Hao was also at the second layer of Soul Refining, so Ye Hao felt no fear.
Upon hearing Ye Hao’s declaration, the figure blurred into a shadow and charged at him. Reacting instinctively, Ye Hao executed the Divine Metamorphosis Method and evaded the strike in an instant.
As the figure lunged at Ye Hao again, it was struck by a thunderbolt and severely wounded.
Stumbling, the figure was then met by Ye Hao’s forceful push. Water coalesced into icicles, ensnaring the figure, which soon turned into an ice sculpture.
Approaching the frozen adversary, Ye Hao tapped it lightly. In the next instant, both the ice and the figure shattered to pieces.
Ye Hao had instantly vanquished a cultivator of equal rank!
In that moment, a hundred spirit stones materialized in the space. With a casual flick of his hand, Ye Hao collected them all into his Cosmos Bag.
Soon after, the scenery shifted around Ye Hao, and another figure emerged before him.
“Congratulations on reaching the second stage,” the figure remarked coolly.
“You’re still at the second layer of Soul Refining?” Ye Hao inquired with a hint of surprise.
“My combat strength, however, surpasses that of the previous individual by a whole level,” the figure informed Ye Hao. “Defeat me, and you’ll earn a substantial reward.”
“How formidable can your combat strength be?” Ye Hao asked, his confidence soaring after his recent effortless victory.
“Underestimating me will cost you,” the figure warned, fingers coming together to point at Ye Hao. A tendril of flame burst forth, rapidly expanding into a vast inferno.
”Rain Summoning,” Ye Hao countered, his own fingers converging as he pointed ahead. A stream of water surged forth, transforming into an Aqua Drake.
The Rain Summoning technique of the Dragon Clan clashed with the enigmatic fire control spell, their powers battling fiercely in the sky.
This was a test of their foundational strength. Without sufficient vital spirit, neither could sustain the fight for long.
Compared to his opponent, Ye Hao’s vital spirit held no advantage in quantity, yet the essence of Ye Hao’s vital spirit was far superior. This allowed Ye Hao to endure much longer than the other man. When the Aqua Drake engulfed the entire sea of fire, the man stumbled backward in shock. His eyes widened as he gazed at Ye Hao, clearly surprised. Ye Hao could tell the man had sustained injuries. Seizing the opportunity, Ye Hao aimed to finish him off while he was vulnerable. Utilizing the Divine Metamorphosis Method, Ye Hao instantly surrounded the man, ready to strike.
